The Opera Garnier first opened on 5 January 1875. Work on the construction of the building lasted 15 years - from 1860 to 1875, with numerous interruptions due to the war of 1870 and the fall of the imperial regime. The opera is named after the architect Charles Garnier, who worked on the project. One of the most famous places in the theater is the lobby of the main staircase, lined with marble of different colors. The hall can accommodate 1900 seats and is illuminated by a huge crystal chandelier.
In 2000, the main facade of the opera was completely restored.

Gorgeous both outside and inside

If you want to see the Opera building, and not to attend a performance, then you need to take a ticket for the tour. They are held in the morning. You can buy in advance on the site, and already inside you can take an audio guide in different languages for 6.5 euros. It is very convenient with him, since you can listen to the information several times and turn on the review of exactly the room in which you are. Usually there are a lot of people there, so it is better to choose to visit the first half of the week.→

Matinee at the Opera.

I have never been to the Opera so early. Since there are always long queues, we decided to arrive 20 minutes before the opening. True, they were no longer the first, but they got in with the first group. The visit opens at 9.30. Tickets for 9 euros (paid by card). There were very few people and we could see both the elegant staircase and the promenade with chandeliers. The theater museum is also interesting, and interesting photos of the boulevards were taken from the balcony. Unfortunately, there was a rehearsal in the hall and we did not see the famous dome.→
