One of the eight gates in the fortress wall is located just opposite the station and from them begins Jean Jaures Boulevard (Cours Jean Jaures). Further, the boulevard passes into the street of the Republic and leads to the very center of Avignon. The boulevard was conceived as the main street of the city, leading to one of the main attractions of Avignon - the Papal Palace.
