Sculpture Manneken Pis

Manneken Pis, Petit Julien
Belgium, Brussel
The sculpture "Manneken Pis", one of the symbols of Brussels, is located near the Grand Place. There are many legends about the creation of this monument. But it is only known for certain that the 61-centimeter sculpture acquired its current form in 1619 thanks to the work of the court sculptor Jerome Duquesnoy. There is a centuries-old tradition of dressing up a boy in various clothes. There are already several hundred costumes. Manneken Pis has become such a popular tourist destination that Brussels has also created Manneken Pis and Manneken Pis in Brussels.

I will not hide the fact that in Belgium and in Brussels I really wanted to see this particular Kid. Somehow the first time was not very lucky. He was dressed in clothes and under them it was very difficult to see this small sculpture, attached to the building, at the crossroads, surrounded by a cloud of tourists! Somehow I even felt sorry for him, the little one! The second time was more fortunate. The boy was naked! There is some zest in this. Come out and guess whether he is dressed or undressed! Pretty! What can not be said categorically about the Girl! Must visit and see.

On the corner of Rue de l'Etuve and Rue du Chene, is perhaps the most famous sculpture in Brussels - Manneken Pis or Manneken Pis. According to one of the many versions, the monument was erected by the father of the lost boy, who, after two days of painful searching, found his offspring in this very "uncomfortable" position. In a fit of joy, the father ordered the construction of a fountain depicting his son in the position in which he found himself. There are several funny traditions associated with Manneken Pis.

Everyone knows this kid. According to legend, this little Brussels man saved his city by putting out the fuse lit by the enemies of the city in an original way. For which he was immortalized in bronze in 1619. And the wardrobe of this little boy is perhaps the largest and most diverse in the world.
