The Grote Markt ensemble consists of the City Hall building, workshop houses (16-17th century) and a fountain in the center of the square. Please note that the Brabo fountain does not have a bowl where water would flow. She simply disappears under the stones of the monument, then falling into an underground reservoir. The legend about the origin of the name of the city of Antwerp is also connected with the fountain. In ancient times, an evil giant lived here, who interfered with trade and all progress by the fact of his existence - he chopped off the hands of everyone who refused to pay tribute to him.→
