Belvedere Palace Complex and Belvedere Gallery

Belvedere, Österreichische Galerie Belvedere, Austrian Gallery
Austria, Vienna
Belvedere is a baroque palace complex in Vienna. Built by Lucas von Hildebrandt as a summer residence for one of the greatest generals of his time, Prince Eugene of Savoy in the early 18th century. Located in Landstrasse, the third district of the city, southeast of the city center. The Upper and Lower Belvedere, together with the garden laid out around them, form a magnificent baroque ensemble.

Currently, the two palaces house the Austrian Belvedere Gallery, the most famous art museum in the Belvedere Palace in Vienna. Its collection includes paintings from many eras, from the Middle Ages and the Baroque to the 21st century.

I can't say that I was very enthusiastic about the park. Beautiful, yes. But very little shade, places to rest. Even simple benches where tourists can sit, a little. Apparently, it is good to admire this park from the palace, and not walking around the territory.

Visited Belvedere with my husband in January 2019. The park and the outside are very pretty. Naturally, there is a desire to go inside and look, despite the huge queues for tickets and the queue to enter. When buying a ticket, there are different ticket options, especially tempting 4 combi (it includes the upper and lower Belvedere and another museum). Don't take it!! ! The museum is located outside the Belvedere (10 minutes walk), but there is nothing to do there (completely sucks), I would not even call it a museum.

The incredible beauty of the park complex forever left in my soul a storm of delightful emotions! To say it's just beautiful is an understatement. We went to the Belvedere from the center on foot on the tourist map. Along the way, a kind adult Australian woman tried for a long time to explain the way to us in her own language. And she didn't let go until she did. Entrance to the park area is free. The aura there is extraordinary. walked along the alleys barefoot, enjoying the harmony and beauty.

If you are not a fan of museums, I advise you to just take a walk in the park. And get out of it through the Lower Belvedere and turn right. In the economic part of the Selesian Monastery there is now a restaurant-brewery, where you can relax with a mug of live beer and ribs (the waitresses speak Russian). And I recommend the Viennese strudel to the young ladies, it is very good there.

A real miracle of architectural and landscape design. A place for a pleasant walk surrounded by baroque style. Here, in an amazing way, ceremonial aristocratic grandeur is combined with exquisite simplicity. The park is replete with fountains, statues and vases surrounded by trimmed "green walls" (bosquet). Technical details. The entrance to the park is free. The Upper Belvedere is the world's largest collection of Klimt's works. Lower Belvedere - living rooms and ceremonial halls of Prince Eugene.
