Elusive Julenissen
Like most Ukrainians traveling in Scandinavia, I arrived in Oslo, the capital of the Kingdom of Norway. I did not have a clear program, so I chose my own routes. On the eve of Christmas and the winter holidays, I planned a mandatory visit to Ulenissen, especially since I was with my son.
If you or a child wants to write a letter to Norwegian Santa, whose name here is Julenissen (Yule - Christmas, Nisse - dwarf), you must specify the address. In Norway, letters to Julenissen in general are sent to the town of Drobak, to the old man's post. And if you write "Ulenissen in Savalen", then to the ski resort in Savalen, where another grandfather lives. There is no competition between them, because everyone has enough letters and wishes.
So, we left for Drobak, which is located 40 km from the capital on the coast of Oslo Fjord in its narrowest part. The local bus has a regular schedule, it starts from Oslo Station Square, the fare is roundabout 25 euros per adult.
If you want to talk to Ulenissen himself, you need to warn in advance the hostess Yulehus - Christmas house. We just visited them to visit, then apparently the old man was on business. The house sells Christmas decorations all year round, occupying all the shelves, floor and ceiling. Between this variety, I still managed to find the same magic box and we all left pieces of paper with wishes for gifts. In a separate house is Julenissen's post. There are thousands, thousands of letters, but the old man has assistants who send answers to all continents.
And in Savaleni guests are greeted either by Julenissen himself or by his dwarf - Fiumpenissen. Here, Ulenissen has an office, on a decorated Christmas tree a lot of baby pacifiers sent from babies. For each of them the old man sends a special diploma.
In the reception room - letters and drawings of children, there is a magic car that turns children's wishes into gifts, there is a large dining room, where a cup of tea with gingerbread cookies or waffles with sour cream gnomes tell Christmas stories.
Every January, his brothers from different countries visit Ulenissen for the Winter Olympics. It would be interesting to come here during this period and see several dozen of our favorite good wizards.
