We were provided with a superior 137, detached, not far from the dive pier. We booked a superior for 3 days and a deluxe for 9 days, all with all inclusive. The air conditioner is a beast, but it can be adjusted. The beach is not wide, but the sunbeds fit perfectly and no one interferes with anyone. And in general, there is no feeling that you have someone sitting on your head. All tourists are in pairs, mainly from Western Europe, and everything is in order with the upbringing of THIS category.
And nature...It needs to be seen and felt. Sea of green. The island is maintained in a state close to natural. Between the cleanly swept and sanded paths there is a real tropical jungle. Fish and birds are just not scared.
Lizards, crabs run right under your feet, crows and bats fly overhead. Thoughtful herons stand on the shore and look into the distance ...And they all DO NOT PAY ATTENTION TO YOU!! ! J Despite the fact that the equator is here, the temperature during the day does not rise above 32 degrees in the shade. But the sun bakes incredibly, so it is not recommended to be under the sun for more than 20 minutes with open skin in any part of the body without a protective cream - you will burn out.
Our luggage arrived only on the third day. All this time we did not light up and almost did not swim, because in the shop on the island there are no swimming trunks or swimwear.
Just on this day, we were moved to the long-awaited deluxe. It turned out to be a DOUBLE bungalow. True, a slightly larger area than the superior, and with armchairs and a cabinet with lighting. But there was no open bathroom as in the superior. And you can still hear your neighbors behind the wall.
Another minus was found on the mini-beach near the bungalow.
Half of the northern coast of the island is covered at the entrance to the water with a thick crust of dead sharp corals. So we asked the rumboy to take our sunbeds to the sandbar at the eastern end of the island. Fortunately, it was 20 meters from the bungalow.
I first tanned under a cream with factor 25, then, after 3 days, I switched to factor 12. There were no burns and the tan is very unusual in color, but beautiful. Yes, I steamed under the sun for no more than an hour and a half. The rest of the time I swam with a mask and snorkel, but in a T-shirt so as not to burn out and in socks so as not to wash my legs in fins.
The underwater world looks pale, but the more beautiful the colored fish look. The picture that opens near the reef cliff is fascinating. In perfectly transparent, sunlit water, a cliff of corals goes down into the darkness. And who knows who is swimming there in the dark.
On the first day after my arrival, I foolishly suffered a swim.
I rushed over the shelf at a fast pace and went beyond the reef break. Then back. I was very lucky that there was a tide then. I passed inches above the corals at the edge of the reef. If the water had been a little lower, he would have torn off the skin on his chest and would have been treated until the end of the vacation. This is what I realized later in the mask.
For swimmers, passages have been cut through the corals and marked with numbered buoys. There are 10 or 12 such passages.
The food at the hotel is excellent. Every day of the week, new dishes are prepared from meat, fish, chicken, and vegetables. True, half of the dishes with a huge amount of curry. But after the Moscow food curry was perceived perfectly. It is best to drink all this food with cold local mineral water. After her cola seems like a chemical solution. Yes, there are a lot of salads and fruits. The fruits are ripe and very tasty.
The staff at the hotel is very friendly. They smile and say hello no matter how many times a day you meet them.
Tips are left on the occasion of a large order or for services that are not part of job duties. Something like this: 10% for a waiter at a paid dinner in a sunset bar, $ 1 for a porter, a rumba at a meeting, a boat captain on excursions, $ 10 per person for a waiter at a farewell dinner.
I don’t recommend taking excursions, it’s not worth killing time, it’s still nothing interesting. When fishing, the chance to catch a fish is minimal. You should not go to the neighboring islands - they look very miserable compared to Vilamendu.
There are almost no Russian tourists, thank God, on the island. From the strength of 4-6 people. They drank vodka in the heat and always sat in the same chairs at the bar.
The rest are Germans, British, Dutch.
No one speaks Russian on the island, so be guided by English, which the local staff communicates quite confidently.
ROOMS
There are standard bungalows in the depths of the island with several rooms in one building, there is no piece of the beach. The remaining bungalows are superior and deluxe, one and two rooms each. These bungalows are not located on the shore itself, they are separated from the shore by trees. The ocean is just a few seconds away. The bungalow has everything you need: air conditioning, fan, a lot of different furniture. The houses have a large veranda with a table and chairs. Each bungalow has sunbeds and mattresses. Beach and other towels are changed every day, linen has been changed three times for all the time, and then when we threw it on the floor. The bathroom is big. There is no bath, there is a shower. There is hot water. Toiletries only soap and toilet paper. The superior rooms have showers in the mini garden. Each room has a faucet where you can rinse your feet from the sand.
BEACH
There is a narrow strip of beaches around the entire island, with the exception of a small area on the north side between exits 8 and 9. At the eastern end of the island there is a wide sandy spit, along which at low tide you can reach a small rocky island. The beach is not cleaned from vegetable debris, but it is cleaned from household waste. In some places there are large mushrooms for 4 loungers. And so the sunbed can be placed in the shade of trees.
OCEAN
The ocean is great. There is a reef around the whole island, where you can see a bunch of all kinds of living creatures. But there are few living corals in shallow water. I strongly advise you to explore the reef with scuba diving, it's worth it. Starting from a depth of 5 meters there are a lot of corals and much more fish. You can see moray eel, stingray, parrot fish, turtle, dog fish, lionfish and a great many other fish.
NUTRITION
The island has one restaurant, two bars, a tee-shop located in the Sunset Bar. You can choose any type of food, even all inclusive.
The food is all fresh, but I would not say that it is very tasty. There is a choice of meat dishes. Of the fish, mainly one tuna, cooked in different forms. There is a chicken. Side dishes are made from potatoes, rice, pasta and a few vegetables. The choice of salads is not great. Grated carrots, boiled beets. Chopped tomatoes and cucumbers, cabbage, lettuce. For breakfast there are a lot of pastries, juices from bags. There are fruits and desserts. For the price that asking for the hotel, everything is not even bad. There are very spicy dishes, there are not spicy, you need to try.
SERVICE
Everyone is very friendly. Rumba room is cleaned twice a day. Sweeps the sand, makes the bed, treats the room from insects, changes towels every day. but with what frequency the bed should be changed, I did not understand. In restaurants, waiters are attached to you, I serve you quickly. In a restaurant, a table is assigned to a room. Everyone at the front desk is smiling.
But if English or German is bad, then it is very difficult to speak and there is no one to help, since there are almost no Russians there at all. Every day the island is treated with smoke from mosquitoes.
ENTERTAINMENT
Of the entertainment on the island, diving, snorkeling, there is a small gym, a court, two volleyball courts, billiards, 2 table tennis tables, a catamaran, a canoe, surfing. There are several excursions, all not expensive. If you take all inclusive, then two excursions are free. This is a local village and night fishing. The village can be replaced with an island with a barbecue. They are also taken to reefs in other places, but Vilamendu reef is better.
Disco once a week until 2 am.
DIVING CLUB
Diving Club Werner Lau Maldives. What can I say. The club building is nice, like all the buildings on the island. The main Germans here are Dani and Chris. The equipment is pretty old. I advise everyone to have their own, at least a wetsuit, mask, fins. The prices are high. These are shortcomings. But the advantages of the sea.
Firstly, the instructors are very qualified, secondly, there are about 40 dive sites. Thirdly, you can dive in pairs at any time near the island without an instructor. You can choose any convenient dive schedule that suits you. One significant note, in order to dive here you need a certificate. If you want without an instructor, then a couple is required. If you do not know English or German well, Dani will not undertake to teach you, as she is a strict and responsible lady.
FINDINGS
The money spent, the hotel pays off in full. If you are not picky and the main thing for which you eat is diving and snorkeling, then you will like it. What can upset is the weather. we had only 4 out of 12 days of good sunny days, on the rest of the days there was a lot of rain. And not 10-15 minutes, as they like to write, and sometimes for the whole day.
