And now in more detail. The trip for my birthday (February 14) and my friend's birthday (February 10) was planned a long time ago. My wife and I immediately decided that we wanted to combine a vacation on the islands with shopping in Dubai, and my friends were hesitant between our choice and the Caribbean. But the oil slick and cholera rumors in the Dominican Republic convinced them. We flew on the route Kyiv-Dubai (Ukraine International Airlines) 04.02. 11, the docking was scheduled for 8.40 am, but the plane arrived from Kyiv earlier and crowded more than 9. There are no complaints about UIA - the plane (737-800) is less than a year old, fed even twice, stewardesses are friendly, landing is soft. The commander was constantly in touch. Dubai Airport (was there for the first time) was disappointing - uncomfortable, cold, no view of the airfield at all. Huge distances. Compared to Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, CL, even Istanbul - Dubai loses. A bunch of people.
However, I did not like it.
The flight to Mauritius was delayed by 40 minutes. Again Boeing, but already 777-300 with a great entertainment system. This is where all the visible advantages of the airline end for me))) There were no road kits. They said that the flight was short (6:5 o'clock at night). However, on request, they still provided an eye patch, socks and toothpaste with a brush. Fed twice-1) sandwich 2) omelet. Drinking is not bad, but to me it's like an umbrella fish. For variety I took cognac. Hennessy was brought in small bottles. They flew normally. There was little turbulence over the Seychelles, but uncritically. Passport control and baggage retrieval took about 40 minutes. We were met by the driver of the booked (70 euros RT) and drove in a nice minivan to the hotel. Drive about an hour on a pretty good road.
Book yourself directly. Additionally, they took the "All Inclusive" package. It adds about 100 euros per room per night, but it's worth it.
A few days before departure, the hotel manager called me and apologized and said that, unfortunately, the first night we will have to live by the standards, and then we will be moved to the superior. As compensation, he offered a late check-out (as much as we want), which was very important for us because of the late (23.20) departure of our flight. And, of course, for the first night the price was lower. Upon arrival at the hotel, around 12:30, it turned out that we had to wait until 14:00. We, in principle, were not very upset and went to dinner. After the meal, the rooms were ready.
Number. I was lucky to live in the standard 1 night (number 73), and in the superior 8 nights (number 330). The main difference between the rooms is the placement of superiors on the first line from the shore, and this is a separate bungalow per room. The standards are based on superiority, but this is completely uncritical, as the hotel is stretched along the coast, not across.
There is a small park with bridges, a fountain.
Birds chirp incomparably. Nice gym at Sugar Beach Hotel. There is an organized playground children's club. Almost all sports are free. Stunning spectacle every night - sunsets. The sun sets in the sea, bright colors, saying goodbye to another day. You will not see this on the east coast. Good musicals every night.
Nutrition. Excellent European and Creole cuisine. Thaches main restaurant - breakfast and dinner, buffet. Good choice, only the breakfast is a bit monotonous. But everything is delicious, fresh. Of the fruits - pineapple, banana, watermelon, apple, mango, dragon fruit, guava. Juices for breakfast - fresh. As I said, we took the "All Inclusive" package, which includes three meals a day, a minibar (a chic selection of drinks and snacks), all drinks and dishes on the menu, marked with a green star. You can dine at Paul and Virginie Restaurant and Citronala’s Cafe.
The average bill, if you do not take the package - 100 euros per couple for lunch with drinks. You can get rid of pizza for 20-30 euros.
Cocktail on average 5-7 euros. Beer 3-4 euros. Dinner is offered in Thaches (buffet), Paul and Virginie (on the menu), Citronala's Cafe (on the menu), Bandiane (Mauritian restaurant), Tides (in Sugar Beach, menu), Mont Pleisier (buffet in the main restaurant Sugar Beach). For those who live on half board, dinner only in the Thaches restaurant (drinks at extra charge). If you want to dine at another restaurant (Paul and Virginie, Citronala's Cafe, Tides), they offer a discount of 20 euros per person. It was free for us. Nuance with Tides restaurant. The coolest atmosphere and choice of seafood and sushi. However, they are not included in the all-inclusive menu - you can order at a discount of 20 euros per person. Relaxing, I ordered a set of sushi for 35 euros, hoping that my wife and I took the dish for two, we will get a discount of 40 euros. Anyway - a dish for one, so a discount of only 20 euros, I was told when they brought the bill))) But I was not upset).
All restaurants cook very well. And everything - from soups to desserts.
Nobody even thinks of diluting drinks, because they don't know which food system the guest is on. Customers simply sign bills and the bartender doesn't know if he's making an all-inclusive cocktail or for money. This is a big plus. All bartenders and waiters are friendly, helpful and pleasant. They gave small tips, but even without them everything was fine.
There are very few Russians in the hotel. And this is a huge plus. As the general manager of the hotel named Jean-Marie told me, the Russians want 5 *, and we want 4 *. Although the same 5 * Sugar Beach reminded me a lot of hotels in Turkey and the Dominican Republic.
Beach. Excellent sandy beach with beautiful mountain views. The water is perfectly clean. At the bottom there are fragments of coral, but all bathed without slippers. The sand is white, the water is turquoise, but not as good as in the Dominican Republic. He took a pedal boat and rode along the shore.
To the right of the hotel, if you look at the sea, two threes are very weak Le Perle, Golden Beach. On the left - Sugar Beach, Hilton, Sofitel, Maradiva, The Sands.
So, after Sugar, the river flows into the ocean, and after the spotlight another. The water is muddy, garbage floats, stinks. However, all the "charms" - especially after the rain.
The weather was good - only one day, February 12, it rained almost all day.
Almost every night I took a bicycle to the sports center for 3 euros per hour and rode around. Roads are good, people, judging by cars and buildings, are not poor, prices in cafes and shops are high - lunch is about 30 euros per person - and it is considered cheap. In principle, they did not go on excursions. Traveling a lot, I realized that I do not like all the excursions on the islands. Enjoyed the beach, snow, water sports, cycling.
Departure from the hotel, as promised, took place at our request - at 8.30 pm.
After Mauritius flew to Dubai, but that's a different story.
I can definitely recommend Mauritius for a quality vacation with a minimum of compatriots and a maximum of comfort and positive emotions. Delicious, pleasant, emotional, high quality. Snorkeling and diving are, of course, weaker than in the Maldives, nature is weaker than in the Seychelles. But I really liked it. And the hotel in a purely hundredfold style was beyond praise. And not to be mistaken with a hotel in Mauritius - the most important thing. Good luck.
