It’s worth starting with the fact that in Morocco, apparently, the system for distributing stars to hotels is the same as in Turkey or Egypt. So don't be fooled by the admonitions of travel agents that this is allegedly the best hotel in Agadir, as well as colorful descriptions in booklets and proud 5 stars, and even deluxe. It is impossible to give this hotel 5 stars in any way, and in no way, be it the territory, quality of service, rooms or food.
Territory - it is practically non-existent, unlike other five-star hotels, the same Sofitel, for example. In front of the entrance to the hotel there is a large concrete parking lot and there is a dirty and tattered sofa.
There are also not enough towels for everyone, we saw with our own eyes how the used towels were folded and put to the unused ones, and then, without washing, they gave them to other guests.
Food - it makes no sense to spread it for a long time, suffice it to say that during our 10-day stay we were 3! ! ! times got sour orange juice for breakfast. Not only is it shamelessly diluted, so that it looks like a fanta in color and taste, it is also sour. In the best traditions, dinner is served with what is left from lunch, at least if it’s from today, and not from the day before yesterday.
Rooms - The hotel is built in the shape of the letter P. The rooms located on the inside of the "letter" have a frontal and side view of the ocean and the pool. But those that are on the outside, on the one hand, go to the construction site, and on the other, to the cluttered roof of the neighboring hotel, where, in addition, there is a bar in which music plays until at least 3 am.
Another very important point - even if you booked a room with an ocean view, it is not a fact that you will have this view, since rooms located on the -1 floor are classified as rooms with an ocean view, although apart from the lawn and sun loungers and the pool there I can not see anything. All rooms on the -1 floor are damp and constantly dark due to greenery or a fence. The air conditioner did not work for us at first, the technician was constantly called, but after his arrival nothing changed. On the third day, the air conditioner finally started working, but it just blew, and the air did not cool. Despite the fact that the hotel is quite new, the rooms are already pretty shabby, the furniture on the balcony is dried up, covered in divorces, ashtrays with chipped edges, plumbing is old, the drain in the bathroom did not work, the bed linen was with a hole. The promised slippers were not in the room, they were brought only on the 6th day after persistent requests, both pairs of size 37...
Service - Moroccan staff pretends not to understand English. In the restaurant, we never waited for teaspoons for breakfast, and drinks were brought only at the end of the meal. Moreover, you can’t take drinks yourself, after all, 5 stars, the waiter will bring. In one hour. Drinks at the bar are given only 1 glass each, the second is given reluctantly, and then they stop giving at all. That is, when you try to take a drink 3 times, they tell you that you are abusing all inclusive and refuse. All inclusive there by the way, until 11 o'clock, and not until 12 as in all normal hotels. After we ordered food to the room, no one cleaned the plates, as a result, we put them out the door. From there they were removed only by the evening of the next day.
As for the SPA, it’s a separate conversation in general - the prices there are far from low, but the service there leaves much to be desired, for example, they don’t even provide customers with disposable underwear.
When we wanted to buy a cream, they tried to give it to us without a package and even without a box! just took a test sample from the display case.
The only thing that did not cause any complaints was the cleaning of the room - it was carried out every day without delay.
The result is this - the hotel makes a very depressing impression and we do not recommend going there. It's a shame to pay that kind of money for a hotel that does not meet the stated level.
I'm shocked to read the reviews! If you have super claims, you have to go to the UAE in 5+! or to the Maldives, GOA and more! For Morocco, this is one of the best hotels, by the way, for lovers of luxury - in Marrakech there is a hotel next to the garden of Yves Saint Laurent for a day - 6.000 ye, everyone who said terrible things about Royal Atlas 5 * - go there!
Food comrades! Who ate where? Personally, on my vacation, the restaurant was bursting with food! The main thing is a lot of seafood! What is generally not typical of such countries: varied, a lot of meat dishes and fruits.
Cleaning - I was cleaned every day! And changed the sheets, linen every day!
The beach - everything was clean, the beach is fenced off, where did you get the locals from? In general, there are very, very few of them, I personally saw local swimmers on the beach in the ocean a couple of times.
Entertainment, there is a disco - one of the best in Agadir, who needs open airs and parties - go to Ibiza, not Morocco!
Summary, och cozy, quiet hotel with good food and service for couples who do not throw show-offs.
I'll start everything in order. We rested with a friend from 2-10.05. 2010. They put us in a room with an ocean view. Rooms, this is the only thing that corresponds to 5 stars, and even then, those rooms that go straight to the ocean.
Food - it's easier to say its absence. Don’t take bacon, my friend almost lost her tooth, it’s very fried and dried, for dinner they already give soufflé from cheese-rice-beets, and for example just rice, i. e. everything into non-waste production (leftovers from breakfast and evening dinner). Believe me, I understand food very well, because. I am a specialist with a classical education in this field and extensive experience. Poor, empty salad bowls, food warmers - this is the norm for this hotel.
In general, having paid for all inclusive, I had to eat in the city. I note that if you arrived according to such a system, then it is in this hotel that the staff begins to tell you and vehemently convince you that all inclusive is breakfast, dinner, drinks at the bar (no ice cream !!!! ). I had to argue here.
Service - no service. Moroccans are the sweetest people, smiling, but if you want to get something "first money, then chairs. " Imagine you come for breakfast, give tea, and then you get your coffee, though it will take at least 15 minutes to carry it. But this is the best option, the poor fellows are not only us, i. e. Russians, and all vacationers. My friend and I quickly realized what was what, and the foreigners are the brakes and utter miser. So a nice family of Belgian old men sat waiting for the appliances (with the help of which they eat meat, risk), sat for about 35 minutes. Then one more perky old woman quietly quarreled with the manager and got the result "0".
Animation - believe me, it is not. You can hear flies flying around the hotel. And taking into account the fact that in principle there is nothing to do in Morocco, then rest becomes a burden.
Towels by the pool - they run out of hours at 12 noon, compassionate and decent people, leaving the pool, hand them over to the staff. So, conscientious workers, when they receive used ones, carefully fold them and distribute them back, well, instead of putting them in the laundry. We were just so shocked! This, believe me, is probably only in Morocco.
The beach is a small paddock covered with a rope.
In a word, we returned from vacation, as if we had spent a month on a difficult business trip.
The room has a safe, bathrobes, hair dryer, rooms with balconies, some have sofas. No slippers, cotton pads, paper napkins, free water, drinkware.
On the common beach there is a fenced area for the hotel with sun loungers and umbrellas. Everything is free. This is an island of salvation from the locals, where they do not go. The hotel is next to the beach, across the pedestrian road on the promenade. The water was cold. Few people went into the water, swimming is not convenient, basically everyone was jumping on the waves. I was unlucky with the weather, often the sun was behind the clouds, a cold wind blew, and sometimes very strong (these days it snowed in France and flooded the resorts of Spain), so this weather was caused by some anomalies.
The tan sticks instantly, you can get burned imperceptibly and, as a rule, everything is very red at the beginning.
On the common beach and on the promenade, anxious men walk and stand, who speak all languages for everyone the same thing.
Rest is pretty boring, there is a bird park, a couple of markets, a sightseeing steam locomotive around the city, a couple of discos, the Marina area near the port with European shops (Zara, Mex, etc. ), it’s kind of boring, and everyone noticed it.
The hotel is very good. Although the star rating is overstated, as elsewhere in Morocco, it clearly draws on a solid four. The rooms have everything you need: TV, air conditioning, hair dryer, mini-bar, safe with electronic coding, good plumbing. Our room had a balcony overlooking the ocean. The hotel is right on the beach, so you fall asleep to the sound of the waves. It was quiet all week, only on Sunday some kind of mass entertainer raged, and we had to close the door to the balcony. Your own beach at a hotel in Morocco is a relative concept. This is a small area with free sun loungers and umbrellas, separated from the general beach by a rope that saves you from direct communication with beach hawkers - they do not go beyond the fence, they offer their goods from afar. You go swimming in the common area. However, even this is a great luxury for Morocco. On the entire coast, only 5-6 hotels can boast of similar fences with umbrellas and sunbeds. How do the rest - I don’t know, maybe they lay towels on the sand? Speaking of beach towels, they are issued in our hotel near the pool for free. We didn't swim in the pool. We decided that it was stupid to splash in chlorinated water when there was a magnificent ocean nearby, and we went to the beach all the time. Maybe we had less waves, I don’t know, but the water was clean and transparent all the time. It is not as salty as in the Black or Mediterranean Sea, and surprisingly soft, just silky. True, it takes a long time to go to the depths. Be careful with sunburn. We were warned, so we went to the beach in the morning when the sky was usually overcast, in addition, we smeared ourselves with cream and sat under an umbrella. And still managed to get burned.
We were quite satisfied with the service. The waiters are smiling, courteous, regardless of the tip, which cannot be said, for example, about Tunisia. The Russian-speaking girl at the reception clearly facilitates communication. Although English, in any perversion, interested parties, such as merchants, waiters, etc. , are understood everywhere.
Money can be changed at the reception around the clock. We never take all inclusive, breakfast and dinner are enough. We liked the assortment: the European basis with elements of local exoticism is exactly what our inexperienced stomachs need. From the exotic, I tried: pickled artichokes, dried anchovies, lamb cutlets, goat cottage cheese, cactus fruits, lentil salad and some soaked flower buds, whose names I don’t know, but delicious. An abundance of different olives, very tasty orange fresh. They preferred to drink beer in a nice cafe to the right of the mini-zoo. Quite a decent Moroccan draft, and the price is normal, they serve free snacks - popcorn and olives. And the hotel only bottled beer and expensive. By the way, in Marrakech, in general, you can drink beer only in the hotel restaurant, in the city the sale of beer and cigarettes is prohibited - this is a note to those who are going on an excursion to this city. Once, instead of dinner, we went to a Moroccan restaurant at the hotel. A loan of 130 dirhams is allocated for this - enough for a tajine. You just need to book a table at the reception in advance. Tajine are dishes cooked in a special cone-shaped pot. We ordered lamb. The meat turned out very tender. Couscous was served separately as a side dish. Once again we ate tazhdin in our favorite zoo cafe, this time they served it right in the tajine (pot) - it was still gurgling, the lamb was mixed with vegetables and potatoes, it was also very tasty. Everywhere and always ordered Moroccan tea with mint - very refreshing and toning. In most cafes, they bring it directly in a steel teapot. We bought ourselves such an inexpensive home in a supermarket - it is the only one so large in Agadir. Thank God, no stomach upsets or poisoning, although we stocked up on pills.
We went on a two-day tour of Marrakesh-Essaouira. I liked it very much. A lot of impressions: narrow medieval streets with a variety of shops and workshops, women wrapped in colorful clothes, surprisingly characteristic Moroccan faces - just like illustrations for the Thousand and One Nights. Moroccan women (and Moroccans as well) are very beautiful, however, a mixture of blood always gives a stunning effect, and in Morocco there is a mixture of blood: Arab, African, European, Jewish... Square of Severed Heads with its snake charmers, fortune-tellers and storytellers of various stripes - complements impression. Essaouira has its own charm of a coastal walled city. By the way, the cheapest souvenirs made of wood (thuja, cypress) are in Essaouira. There you can buy a box for 10 didrachms, and in Agadir and Marrakech the same box costs at least 50 didrachms. We bought a Moroccan shirt in Marrakech for half the price than in Agadir. In Essaouira they were no longer interested, perhaps it is even cheaper there. In general, bargaining begins with a price that is 4 times higher than the real one. There are, however, shops where they immediately call the real price. Do not rush to buy anything, first walk around, take a closer look - as a result, buy everything much cheaper.
Some are repelled by the smells and dirt in the narrow streets of Moroccan cities. But it seemed to me that Marrakech and Essaouira are no dirtier than Paris or Nice, where in the evening there is also a lot of garbage and unpleasant odors. In general, it all depends on your mood. The apotheosis of our excursion was the spectacle of goats grazing on argan trees. How they get there is still a mystery to me, I only saw the result: indeed, the goats stand on a tree in a spreading pattern and nibbling the leaves. Regarding argan: we were brought to a farm where cosmetic oils, creams, and so on are made from the fruits of this unique tree. The farm also has a shop. So, argan oil in a supermarket in Agadir is two times cheaper than on this farm (the packaging is the same). I bought cream and edible oil from a Moroccan store in the free zone of the airport for the same price as on this very farm. So see for yourself.
As for the pestering of local merchants and beggars, I will say this: they pester no more than in Tunisia or Turkey. You can ignore them or refuse politely but decisively. Here they are lagging behind. No one grabbed our hands.
In Agadir itself, we didn’t have time to get bored in five days, so we didn’t look for any special entertainment. True, we are big animal lovers, so we went to the local mini-zoo a stone's throw from our hotel three times. There are mostly domestic birds (the zoo is called so - Bird Town) - various chickens, geese, pigeons. There are peacocks that periodically spread their tails, a whole herd of some unusual rams, and most importantly, kangaroos, which I first saw so close. All animals are terrible beggars.
All in all, it turned out much better than I expected. I went in a skeptical mood, just for the company of my husband, who had long dreamed of Morocco, and returned full of impressions and positive emotions, which is what I wish you.

Nice spacious rooms with ocean view - just super! The hotel is well fed, quite tasty wines of their local production. Orange juices can be drunk in any quantity at any time and in any place of the hotel, exotic fruits can also be drunk in any quantity.
There is no animation in the hotel, but in principle it is not needed, it is better to travel on excursions and get acquainted with the culture of the country! There is something to see! We are very sorry that we didn’t get to Marrakech, we didn’t look at the snakes dancing to the tune (((
Well, the goats on the trees... - an awesome sight, upon arrival at home, no one believed in this miracle until they showed pictures and postcards : )
The Atlantic Ocean did not make much impression, the Red Sea is much more interesting, and if you want glamorous youth discos and parties, then this is Cyprus!
