By visiting Rabat, we open the fourth part of the cycle "Morocco in winter", there are two more cities ahead.

If you are interested to know how our route to Rabat was, here is link to the beginning of Moroccan adventure.

We got to Rabat in the morning and after a grueling bus ride, all we wanted was to eat and have a little breakfast. Which we did when we got to our guesthouse called "At Naima's". This time it was a complete immersion: we lived in a real Moroccan family, where we were fed breakfast in the morning.

After replenishing our energy, we set off to wander the streets of Rabat (which in some places were very similar to the streets of Chefchaouen).

The weather in Rabat was beautiful and it felt like summer (even though we were wearing jackets), so we decided to move towards the embankment. On the way to it, we had a road along the fortress, surrounded by palm trees.

Football battles for the title of the best Riad in the city took place right next to the fortress.

Well, we, to the very embankment, had less and less distance.

It turned out to be not crowded and slightly cool on the embankment (due to strong wind), so we hung there for 10 minutes, admiring the views of the ocean.

Further along the plan was Hassan's tower and the path to it lay through a mini-park, where quite a lot of old people were basking in the sun.

At the entrance a surprise awaited us - a bunch of cameras, security and journalists. After a superficial analysis, it turned out that at the moment there is an official visit of the Portuguese delegation to the Prime Minister or the King of Morocco.

Due to political graters, the entrance to the mausoleum was closed to mere mortals and we went to inspect the surrounding area.

Just 5 minutes later, we heard a crowd of people abruptly start running in one direction. Everything became clear - the tall uncles gave the go-ahead for the opening of the mausoleum.

For tourists, the view is available only from the upper tier, which was completely packed, which, in principle, is slightly visible in the photo (to fully understand the scale of what is happening, I recommend looking at the video report ).

This is what everyone looks at from the top tier. I suspect that the flowers were left there after the official visit.

Actually, everything became clear from the mausoleum, and we again returned to what we were doing earlier - examining the square itself, on which the Hassan tower is located.

At one of the entrances to the square, you are met by a solemn guard and against the background of walls of different heights, it looks very unusual.

After the square, the tower and the mausoleum, we went on to walk around the city, buying lychees along the way, at least I was sure of it (although at home it turned out that I was a little mistaken and they did not taste very pleasant). I still don't know what kind of berries they are : )

A fascinating fact about Rabat: not far from the ocean, you can see a huge cemetery that stretches along the road.

In every Moroccan city, we tried to look at the market at least a little, Rabat was no exception.

Of the entire range, turtles are the most memorable. For what purposes they are sold - it is not known whether it is a pet or a festive dinner.

The thought of dinner slipped by, which means it's time to eat tagine and drink tea (during our trip to Morocco, we were very addicted to their tea).

After dinner, we walked along the shelves with books and were very surprised by the literature offered for sale.

It was already getting dark outside, and we went to our guest house, where Naima was waiting for us (well, we just had to pay for the accommodation in the evening). And tomorrow, we were going to go to the next city - Casablanca.

You can read about our time in Casablanca here.

If you want to know more about our trip to Morocco, I also recommend watching the video report.
