Riga. She's so...
This is not the first time in Riga. I want to tell and show interesting places of this wonderful city.
This summer, the family rested in the small Annabella hotel in Teika district.
Sculpture of monkey Sam in a spacesuit in the area of new buildings "Novaya Teika".
The monkey symbolizes the animals that participated in space exploration.
Our hotel Annabella.
The weather during these 3 weeks was unpredictable: both unbearably hot and cool, even cold with rain all day. Despite a few sad days when we got sick after a walk in the rain, we had a rich and interesting time.
We went on several excursions in the Free walking tour format for a nominal fee. I found them on the Riga 1100 website.
Modern brick building in the center of Old Riga.
Central Market, where our group hid from the rain.
We walked along the Daugava embankment, along the Mež aparkon the shore of Lake Kisezers. There are recreation areas, cafes, sports entertainment.
Near the Daugava.
Lake Kisezers in Mež aparks.
We were at the Zoo (11 euros per person, but for Ukrainians it's free, you just need to show a Ukrainian passport).
There were no elephants, bears, rhinos, or tigers in the zoo, but there were lions, hippos, giraffes, and many other smaller animals.
The enclosures are beautiful, spacious, modern.
Created Tropical House with a huge variety of insects, snakes, crocodiles, turtles.
There are exciting educational games and entertainment for children on the territory.
We wandered in the creative quarter of Lastadija (Lastadija).
At 13 Turgenev Street, an art object has settled - a huge silver fox on the wall of a house where creative youth gathers.
To create an unusual sculpture, steel, sailor hemp ropes, and glass were used.
View of Lastadia and the fox from above.
You can eat tasty and relatively inexpensively at Lido restaurant chains. The principle of service, as in the dining room - you pick up food on a tray, which is located behind the display case, and pay at the checkout.
Pleasant atmosphere in the restaurant on the roof terrace of Galleria Riga shopping center.
We watched the sunset and admired the views of Riga from the 17th floor at a height of 65 meters in Latvian Academy of Sciences.
We took a cocktail with Bombay Sapphire gin and tonic. The sunset was even more romantic.
The entrance ticket to the observation deck in the summer, if I'm not mistaken, was 9 euros.
Several times we went to the Gauja River to admire nature, and to the forest to pick mushrooms and blueberries. We found a lot of chanterelles, several white mushrooms and boletus.
We went to Jurmala, to Vidzeme coast, to Saulkrasti (there will be separate photo reports). I will also write a few lines about the architecture of Riga.
5 years ago in the summer we were in Sigulda in Turaida Castle, in Birini Castle (Birinu pils).
Now I really want to see Latvia in the winter, during the Christmas holidays. Hope it comes true!
Perhaps my notes will help travel lovers to find interesting corners in the city in addition to Old Riga)
