Color of Trakai
During the stay in Lithuania, a day was allocated to visit the town of Trakai, which is located 30 km from Vilnius. The town is famous for its lakes, on which two castles are located - peninsular and island. You can get to Trakai either by bus or by commuter train - the ticket price is about 2 euros one way.
The founders of this settlement were tribes, the Karaites. The whole architecture of Trakai reminds of this fact - wooden houses with characteristic roofs.
In one of the castles, the peninsular one, there is a historical museum, and an entrance ticket to the island castle costs 8 euros. It is worth noting that you can view the castle for free only from its outside, walking along its walls along the lake.
To visit Trakai, 5-6 hours will be enough and you can safely return to Vilnius or Kaunas, which are also located nearby.
