From the scorching sun, the water in the boiler starts to smell and an unpleasant smell may appear in the shower. Naturally, it is better to clean your teeth with water that you bought at a local shop. . . The lights are cut off several times a day and the smell of diesel generator exhaust is added to the heat. But this is nothing compared to the beautiful ocean and Unawatuna beach. The smiles and friendliness of the Sri Lankans make the most nasty tourists not spoil their vacation and take the shortcomings of Ceylon for exotic! Here is the cleanest water in the ocean and a reef with fish that stretches along the beach. The waves are damped by the reef and swimming near the shore is quite comfortable even for children, although it should be noted that the ocean is not for kids. Breakfasts and dinners at the Wave Beach Hotel were held exclusively on the beach. You set up a table on the sand right next to the ocean. If you still decide to go to the wave beach resort, do not stay in rooms under the roof, it is very stuffy there, these are rooms 4.5. the kitchen was tasty at first, but greed took its toll, and rice and seafood began to cook for several days, not fresh! The Unawatuna resort itself cannot be called a Vapriore resort! I didn't see any good hotel there! All that distinguishes Unawatuna from other places is a large barrier - a dead reef that does not allow the ocean to reach the shore, and you can swim in the ocean with relative calm.

In general, thank you very much, everything worked out as it should! The hotel gave us a room, as we booked - a suite on the third floor overlooking the ocean. The room is spacious, clean and tidy. Furniture and appliances are quite modern. There is air conditioning, refrigerator, TV, kettle. Large balcony with seating area and even a kitchenette. The bathroom is chic, excellent plumbing and design, hot water, fresh towels. Expected the worst from a 3* hotel. They cleaned up well. Room service is excellent. The staff in the hotel at the reception and in general all the staff made a very pleasant impression. They treated us well, responsive to requests, smiling. There are no problems with food either. . European breakfasts (scrambled eggs, fruits, vegetables, toast, etc. ), a variety of dinners and lunches. The restaurant can make for you a romantic dinner by the ocean. There is a good bar, a barbecue area where you can cook your own seafood, fish, meat. Unawatana beach is nearby, clean enough, plenty of sunbeds. Good entry into the water. The water is warm, there were almost no waves. Nearby there are several beautiful beaches, shops, souvenir shops, cafes. In general, for a full and comfortable stay there is everything you need! And you will have to sit on your suitcases instead of completely relaxing and starting to rest. Most likely this happens only during the peak time of the holidays, if you go out of season, then everything should be fine.
CLEANING. Every day a guy comes up and asks if we should clean the room today, once they gave us the key and agreed. Cleaning is that you will fill your own dirty bed on the bed and that's it! What kind of change of towels and linen is there, what are you talking about? They swept the floor a little and still there was a lot of sand, I didn’t even put my nose on the balcony, although there was a trash can that had to be thrown away. Then the guys said that they need to be asked to change the bed and towels, and they will do it with a displeased look! Beach towels were not given to us at all, only for the shower. If we get lucky.
BEWARE THEFT. Two families were robbed in our presence, they steal part of the money, not all of it. kind of smart. There are no safes, so take suitcases with locks, store money there or carry it with you, which is not an option, you can leave it in the safe with the owner. Which is also nonsense, they will know how much money you have.
FOOD. Breakfast is the same every day, scrambled eggs, two sausages, yogurt diluted with water, bread, tea or coffee to choose from. If you want variety, go somewhere to have breakfast in cafes or say that you are leaving and ask for breakfast to go. They will boil one egg for you, make sandwiches with cheese and put a banana.
The hotel treats well only with foreign guests, this does not apply to Russia and Ukraine. If you come tomorrow at the same time as an American, they will first lick one place, and then they will serve you.
FROM THE PLUSES large room, bed, shower, air conditioning, fan, TV, wardrobe, balcony (in general, everything is as in the photo) view from the room to the ocean, the sound of the waves, the hotel is right on the beach, good umbrellas and sun loungers. With this we were pleased. BUT again, be prepared for the fact that in addition to room 10, they have two more rooms without repair and you can be settled there on a permanent basis, if you look at the photo of the general view of the hotel, then this is a two-story building to the left.
BUT there are Party days, there is a club next to the hotel, you can hear music half the night in the room, it didn’t bother us, because after busy days it just cuts out, but if you are looking for a quiet place, you definitely don’t come here, all the sounds are heard in the room.
