There are not many people wandering around the territory, sun loungers are always free by the pool, the beach is across the road and to the right - you can walk to the public one in 5 minutes, or you can stay on the undeveloped opposite.
There are wonderful restaurants right on the beach. By the water, with the waves at your feet.
Rooms in hotels: excellent air conditioning, large bed 180 * 190 (I can determine by eye, because I had a bed 2 by 2 meters), very comfortable. Shower, accessories for it. Refrigerator, kettle, TV Bottled water in the room.
I don't know if this should be about Unawatuna, it's about the hotel. But in general, I'm happy with the choice - you won't find such a rich infrastructure outside the hotel in more pop and family places. Every meter is some place with a romantic view.
1. We flew from Donetsk. Tour operator NEWS TRAVEL.
2. From Colombo airport to the hotel, we traveled by transfer for about 4 hours. (Arrived at about 9.00)
3. Upon arrival at the hotel at the reception, we were met by 4 hotel employees, after a couple of minutes they brought us a fresh juice. The entire placement procedure took about 15-20 minutes.
4. As for the rooms: Old repair, appliances, furniture - for the unpretentious. The bed linen is "a little underwashed" (no stains). The towels are the same. We took sheets and towels with us, but we also used the hotel ones. The air conditioner worked in the room. It was very pleasing!! ! They cleaned the room on the 4th day. We asked the administration about this. They don't do it themselves. Another hotel is being built next to the hotel and the noise of the construction site at the end of our holiday specifically "got it"! But the promised mosquitoes were not!! ! At all!!!
5. The hotel has a small swimming pool. Good staff. On the last day before departure, we were given a “dry ration” (sandwiches, bananas and a bottle of water).
In general, he pulls on his 3 stars.
6. For those who like to dance on the beach, there is Riddim Bar 10 minutes from the hotel. Good music, funny guys. They always have fun.
7. We ate at the Tartaruga restaurant, a little further from Riddim. For those who are not very friendly with English, the restaurant has a waiter, Supun. He knows a little Russian and will be able to help you.
We were 10 days and were VERY pleased with the rest!! !
Location
Located in the very corner of the bay, away from cafes and shops. The beach is right across the road, but crossing this road is still a pleasure! There is no concept of a pedestrian crossing in Sri Lanka, no one intends to let pedestrians through and slow down too, so I had to stand near the road waiting for the right moment to cross the road, namely the crossing, not the crossing, because the road is busy: buses, cars, motorcycles are running , trucks, wagons. Many Unawatuna hotels, unlike the Comaran Beach Hotel, are located directly on the ocean.
Rooms
We took a standard room - a very modest room, the furniture is old, bed linen and towels leave much to be desired, no repairs, white and gray walls. There is air conditioning, no hair dryer, gels, shampoos and soaps, too. Instead of a balcony, there is a veranda for several rooms; this veranda offers a good view of the ocean and Unawatuna Bay.
Cleaning
They cleaned only on demand, that is, it was necessary to approach the staff and ask them to do the cleaning, they did not come to clean it themselves.
Swimming pool, territory
The hotel does not have its own territory, there is only a small courtyard with a pool and several sunbeds. Since there are no people in the hotel, the sunbeds and the pool are always empty. You can swim in the pool at any time of the day.
Nutrition
The price includes breakfast - continental breakfast: a choice of scrambled eggs or scrambled eggs with sausages, there are no other options.
They also bring a few toasts with jam and butter, a plate of fruits (papaya, watermelon, pineapple) and tea / coffee to choose from. And so every day. I advise you to have lunch and dinner in cafes on the beach, there are a lot of them, we liked Lucky Tuna and Tartaruga the most.
Tours
We did not take excursions from the tour operator, it was too expensive. We took an English-speaking driver in a minivan for 2 days, he drove us along the route we compiled, took for five, it turned out much cheaper than the tour operator.
Beach
Opposite the hotel, the beach is not bad, but there is a fairly strong current and the water is straight hot, not refreshing, and there is no underwater world. We went to Jungle Beach - this is a small semi-wild beach where there are never waves. There is clean, clear water, there are corals, colored fish. Jungle is very green (palms, mangroves, exotic trees) and monkeys often come there. Previously, this beach was wild, but now there is a small beach cafe and sun loungers.
In the cafe, by the way, they feed normally, they ate there every day, they didn’t get poisoned. Deep-fried shrimp and squid with sauce are delicious. You can get to the Jungle on foot, follow the path through the jungle, but you need to know the way, it's hard to explain. The easiest way to get there is by tuk-tuk, any tuk-tuk will take you there for about 40 rupees, 10 minutes drive.
Unawatuna bay
I really liked the bay itself: the ocean is calm, there are no waves, the beach is quite clean, there are plenty of cafes, shops and shops are also full, there is everything you need to relax. At the end of the bay there are two temples - two white stupas, smaller and larger, you can walk to them on foot, from there you have an excellent view of the entire bay. Huge ocean turtles periodically come to the beach to lay their eggs, we were lucky to witness this process.
In general, we are very satisfied with the trip, we will be happy to come to Unawatuna again, but to a different hotel.
On December 31st we arrived at the Camaran Beach Hotel. And the HORROR began! Instead of the super-priority room that we had booked, we were put in a dirty dump, we were not given any shampoos or gels, we were given 2 towels of dubious cleanliness, and if you describe all the horrors of this room, you get a thick novel. Dirty room overlooking the roof garages and the road, the noise from the road is incredible, the beds are of dubious cleanliness, there is a layer of dirt (not dust) on the furniture, we are shocked. It was useless to explain anything to them at the reception. Then they explained to us that the New Year's dinner, which we had to pay for in Moscow!!!! , was not planned, it would just be a regular dinner, since they simply do not have such a holiday as our New Year . Then, when we contacted our Guide and he cursed with them and demanded a proper attitude towards us, they promised us something....We attach a photo of the New Year's dinner. all night, they drank from the throat, they danced naked by the pool, music rattled throughout the hotel, plus noise from the road, the Russians were very sad and not sweet on this New Year's Eve, and we could not do anything. I really want to sue the organization of this lawlessness. It was like this almost every night, as Sri Lankan weddings were held in this hotel all the time.
For breakfast, lunch and dinner, also paid for when buying a tour in Moscow, we spent 6 hours a day, 2 hours for each meal while begging and waiting for non-edible food. It was very humiliating, because for two of us we paid more than 6.000 thousand dollars for this vacation !!!!
Then we begged for towels for the beach, we were told - come back in a couple of hours, etc.
In general, everything was terrible, we had already traveled half the world, we were in exotic countries, but we encountered such a lawlessness for the first time...
I no longer want to deal with Pax, and I don’t want to go to Sri Lanka anymore.
Wrote briefly, I don’t want to remember what I experienced. Sincerely, Arisha, Alexander. Moscow.
