The room was booked through the most simple tour operator, but when we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel is located 50 meters from the sea-ocean, with sun loungers, umbrellas, as it turned out later, and beach towels are issued every day. The room has two double beds with mosquito nets, two fans, a refrigerator, a dryer and a closet with hangers. Separate bathroom with all necessary accessories. Gorgeous veranda with access to a cozy courtyard.
Very friendly staff, everything is clean, neat and tasteful.
Breakfasts are very plentiful, varied, adapted to European cuisine, also with soups and fresh fruits. The cook constantly asked the opinion of the guests, and clarified the preferences. . .
There are many sights nearby, which people from all over the world come to see: the Buddhist Temple, the Japanese Peace Pagoda, the Galle Fort. . .
In general, we swam, sunbathed, rested from the bustle of the city, and we didn’t even notice how two weeks flew by...
The only downside is that time flies very fast. . .
Old furniture, leaking faucets, rusty air conditioner. In the room: an old century-old wardrobe, bed, minibar. In the bathroom, except for a rewound pipe dripping on the head and a dirty (with various greasy prints of someone's hands) mirror, there was nothing. The bed linen is red, the towels are torn. One plus is the presence of a large balcony. Everything! Next. . . breakfast! Ooooh, that's something! How do you like the range: chickpeas and beans (optional), tea or coffee with toast. Or. . . mivina and lentils. No vegetables. There is a photo! Very rare banana or 5 pieces of pineapple. Every morning, when they gave fruit (if they did), the cook stood near the distribution table and made sure that they took only 1 banana and some pineapples. Who did not have enough, the cook is not to blame))))) By the way, the rude staff behaved very nasty! They came out of the closet, threw food out of a plastic basin into a saucepan (like pigs), neighed and shouted to the people who were sitting waiting for breakfast, "go-go. " People get up, come to the table in order to have time to take at least something for breakfast, and the dudes again look out of their closet and just laugh insolently. On one of the weekends, all the staff were crawling around the hotel, because everyone was drunk. Where is it seen that the attendants drank? The next day, breakfast did not start at 8.00, but closer to 9.00. Certainly! I did not want to work from the future.
Next. . . Theft. Two new men's T-shirts disappeared from a room in the new building! Another woman's dress was missing.
Next....construction! This is zhah. A huge hotel is being built nearby. The developer is allowed everything, so this is one of the officials of this country. Every night many dump trucks came and unloaded huge stones. Did a few walks. The roar was on the whole resort. To be honest, one night we were blown up, frightened by the strongest roar. We went out of the room in a rage, seeing how the column of cars was going and going, we realized that we would not sleep. And so it went on until 4 am.
Next....the beach. Sunbeds counted))) there are 20 of them! The hotel accommodates (still 4 buildings) at least 50-70 people. But there are 20 sunbeds!!!!! ! Therefore..... we sunbathed while standing!
More....Who said that the staff is smiling???? ? I didn't see a single smile! Yes, they smiled, but to whom?? ? Yes, to the one who went every morning and gave them money! Seen with my own eyes. If you want to get a smile, give money! For one foreigner, they even singled out a personal one. They entertained her, smiled, and in return she put "sweet money" in their boat.
Regarding the appeal to the staff, I will say this: if you needed something, you could go to the manager and a hundred times - everything is useless! Instantly he forgot both English and Russian.
In conclusion, I will say: the hotel is terrible, the staff is arrogant, rude, lazy! And by the way, we personally had a holiday in our family, we did not receive any "compliment" from the hotel.
And pluses - the hotel has its own beach, on which there are many trees and you can hide in the shade. Monkeys come to the beach every day, which can be fun to feed. Cafe on the beach - cooked every other time, once it was delicious, the second time was not at all. Changes are given very reluctantly, tips are added to everything, even if you take a bottle of beer and leave with it. They bought seafood, asked them to cook, they asked for the price for cooking the same as the cost of the products themselves. As a result, we met a tuk-tuk driver, he took us to the market, and for a little money he prepared it for us and brought it to the hotel. They also went with him to Khikaduwa, Galle, Kogallu and Weligama.
We lived in a new building, there are good rooms, but the bedding was made twice with a hole in the sheet. There was no hair dryer in the room, but I turned to the reviewer and they immediately issued it. Our friends lived opposite in the old building, where everything is of course already very "tired".
Beach towels are provided. There is a basket next to the reception, he came from the sea, threw wet into it. In the morning you go to the beach, take a new one at the reception. Cleaning on demand. I left the key at the reception, asked, they removed it. He did not leave, so he did not ask). They don't have trash bags, we put on the regular ones ourselves. There was a clothes dryer on the balcony.
From the main minus - nearby in a nearby hotel at the weekend there is a night discotheque, the music rumbles until 5 in the morning, it's not real to sleep at all!
All 14 days for breakfast they gave an omelette, bread, butter, a choice of tea or coffee and either a couple of pieces of fruit or a glass of smoothie. Something else stood on the tables, such as beans or some other porridge, but it was not possible to eat. Sometimes you had to wait for 15-20 minutes until you were served. Not critical of course, but at the end of the rest, I didn’t want to go to breakfast.
From everything we made a conclusion for ourselves - if we return to Sri Lanka, then we will definitely go to Unawatuna, but definitely to another hotel.
