The road is very tiring, we drove from the airport for about 6 hours (when booking a tour, you can order an individual transfer for 3 hours), but when you arrive, you get a delicious fresh juice in your hands and forget about everything. They settled quickly, brought the suitcases, refused to take the money. The rooms are cleaned every day, snow-white towels are thrown into the basket and changed constantly.
Monkeys, peacocks, turtles, some beautiful birds, lizards up to one and a half meters all walk around the territory in abundance, in most other hotels there is no such thing as civilization, and here the jungle! )) except for the monkeys, no one aspired))
The waves are a bomb, up to 2 meters, the girls really can’t swim there (you can go to the lagoons where there are small waves on tuk tuks or minibuses, the most picturesque lagoon was where surfers learn to swim), but the guys will be a pleasure, splashing, jumping on the waves, diving just be careful in them ; -)) you can do it for hours, the water is warm, I don’t know the exact temperature, but the frost itself didn’t get out of the water there either.
We went on not far excursions and for beer (two times cheaper in the city) with a guy named Asanka from the beach, sociable, quite adequately understands both English and Russian, he himself stopped the tuk tuk to take a picture of manky, snakes, peacocks. Maybe cook some kind of seafood shrimp there or something else. On the way back I ordered bananas and mangoes from him to eat on the plane. Buy mangoes not imported, but local ones, they are smaller but much tastier.
For all food, drinks that you buy at the hotel, there will be another + 25% when paying, some kind of government tax on tourists, so keep that in mind. They don’t take money right away, it’s recorded on the room and when you check out or at any time you can go to the reception to pay.
There are three restaurants nearby at the exit, one on the left and two on the right, they cook differently but everything is delicious. In your restaurant, food is present and spicy and very spicy and not at all spicy, you won’t stay hungry enough deliciously)) We slept through breakfast once, found it by the pool and brought a plate of fruit. In the evening, if you walk in the dark, a guard comes up to light the road with a flashlight. They don’t let you swim at night (dangerous), but we spent it again with a flashlight... we walked)) In general, I advise those who love a calm, measured rest. We liked it very much, we will definitely come back))
We met with the masseur Saman and his family. Very nice people. We took essential oils and fruits from them, ordered lunch, had a massage, and went on an excursion with my brother Saman. Everyone was very pleased. I recommend it.
We also met a very good tuk-tuker named Gayan (this is not a scourge from the beach)! Very friendly, pleasant to talk to, speaks English quite well, not intrusive, invited us to his place for lunch, it was very pleasant and tasty : ). And most importantly, he drives well, is not in a hurry and will wait if necessary! We traveled with him all the time and talked. Also, through it we went on excursions in a very good air-conditioned minibus and were also very satisfied. There was no need for scourge fighting services at all. Contacts of the tuk-tuker Gayan: +9.777 06.920, +9.714143 527. If you call, you can say that from Anna.
The waves were very big, and we went swimming in the Laguna, this is where he lives, and that's where we met him. You can also walk. Turn left from the hotel beach and walk about 30-40 minutes along the coast. The lagoon is behind the fishing boats. There the waves were quite small and it was very cool to swim!
Walk around the village, you won't regret it. You will meet many kind, simple and open people who are ready to help you free of charge. There you can see monitor lizards, mongooses, chipmunks, monkeys, peacocks, buffaloes and even a caiman crocodile near the Laguna itself in the river opposite : )
a very beautiful beach, you shouldn’t be in the sun for a long time, you can burn out in half a day.
lovers of a QUIET holiday will like
The rooms are wonderful, large and bright. The room has everything you need: el. kettle, hair dryer, plasma (no Russian channels), DVD player with USB support, modern furniture, small bar-fridge, air conditioning, fan, safe
(I was surprised that it is not attached to anything, take it and take it away). The only thing is that the sofa cushions are slightly shabby and we didn’t see it right away. Bed linen is pure white. There were two towels for each, which were changed every day. Some rooms have a bathroom, some have a shower (during our stay at the hotel, we were not replenished with shampoo and soap 2 times). The rooms on the 1st floor offer a wonderful view of the pool (you lie on the bed and admire), but be prepared for the fact that the curious passing by will constantly stare at you through the windows. Therefore, if it will strain you, ask for the 2nd floor. By the way, there are no ocean-view rooms in the hotel, although the hotel is located almost on the shore. Pay attention immediately to the vats of water and a large coconut spoon that stand near each room. The paths on the territory are sandy, the sand sticks and stretches behind the feet into the room. Therefore, before entering, the legs are washed.
The hotel itself is cozy, a lot of greenery, however, on one side of the pool, the palm trees are still young and low. Closer to the beach, the trees are already more powerful, there are more shadows, comfortable sunbeds under the palm trees. The guys are fussing, changing towels. The beach is good, clean, deserted. You can't swim in the ocean, but you can jump on the waves. The ocean is always warm, no matter the time of day. A lifeguard is on duty on the beach - a small, puny kid. He approaches his work responsibly.
If you want to meet jaguanas or chipmunks, visit the clearing near the main entrance to the hotel, next to the security booth. And if you throw pieces of bread into the lake with lilies near the bar, the water will boil from the abundance of fish and turtles. Monkeys, they say, run through, but we personally did not see them on the territory of the hotel.
In the evenings, the hotel is full of relaxation. When it gets dark outside and the lights are on, the hotel looks just gorgeous. We made tea or coffee for ourselves, sat comfortably in wicker chairs near the entrance to the room (by the way, there are 2 entrances in the rooms on the 1st floor) and just went crazy, admiring all this beauty. You could also swim in the pool at night. You can also lie on a lounger near the beach and listen to the sound of the ocean. In general, great! ! Sometimes, for a change, I wanted at least a little animation, which was not there at all. I liked it when there was live music in the restaurant during dinner, nothing outstanding, but still. Only local musicians played not every day.
About food. The child has stomach problems, so I was very afraid that there would be nothing to feed him there. But my fears turned out to be unfounded. There was also very spicy food. I agree that the choice of dishes is not the same as in Egypt, but you definitely won’t be hungry. And fruits, and juices, and sweets, everything was there. Buy a ticket with breakfast and dinner. Everyone who had only breakfast included faced a huge problem where to eat, because. at the hotel dinner for one at least 20 bucks. There is only 1 restaurant nearby, where it is somewhat cheaper, but it has not very good reviews. So it's safer to eat at the hotel restaurant. The only negative is that for dinner all drinks are paid. It's good that you are allowed to bring your own water to the restaurant. Of course, you will have to buy more water, since the small bottle that is given to everyone for a day is not enough, and in the bar 1 liter costs 285 rupees. We also bought water in the village, which is next to the hotel for 55 rupees, walk about 20 minutes. You can go to the supermarket in Tangalle, but there is not much to buy there. Alcohol is sold in special shops (a bottle of beer in the hotel restaurant is 570 rupees). The market is completely unsanitary. There is a lot of garbage on the streets and this garbage along the route along the entire coast. When we returned after any trip to the hotel, we were once again convinced that our hotel was just super!
And you can go to Tangalle by tuk-tuk for at least 1500 rupees. The cheapest tuk-tuker is Gayan - a guy with glasses. His prices are really lower than all the others and you can still bargain. You can do it with the rest too. In order not to lose a client, the price is dropped to the level of Gayan's prices, you just need to know how much and for what trip Gayan takes and boldly call it. So with Ravan we went on a safari for $40 per person, although the original price was $60. But, perhaps, the most cheerful, humorous and very positive is the tuk-tuker Asanka. A natural born tour guide. On the way from point A to point B, we learned a lot of useful and interesting things from him, the main thing is that you know at least a little English. Unfortunately, we only used his services once, as the next day he was admitted to the hospital. We really missed his support. Thank him very much! It was very interesting to travel with him. If possible, send him greetings from Ukraine from Alina's "sister".
About the massage therapist Saman. I read very good reviews about him, but I expected more from the massage (in principle, not bad, but not super).
In general, the impressions of the hotel are only positive! By the way, when we were going on a trip, having seen enough commercials, I really dreamed about Eva Lanka, but it so happened that we bought tickets to Ranna and I was very upset. Since the hotels are relatively not far from each other, I could not help but go to Eva. When I got to the territory, I was a little disappointed by what I saw. On the video on the Internet, the hotel area looked more impressive and more bewitching than in reality. Ranna, on the contrary, is more beautiful in reality. However, there is no doubt that Eve has more lush vegetation than Rann, more living creatures: families of monkeys and chipmunks endlessly dart back and forth across the territory, and the territory itself is larger. I was very impressed by the beautiful picturesque beach - Eva Lanka Bay. But in principle, I realized that I was upset in vain, since both hotels are cool, and in some ways Ranna even wins
(More gloss or something).
Many thanks to the manager of the agency "Let's go with us" on Tymoshenko Katerina for persuading us to this hotel, and to the staff of the hotel itself and the airline "Roza Vetrov" for the fact that our vacation was at the proper level. I can recommend the Ranna 212 hotel for a relaxing holiday.
As for food, the food is not too varied, seafood, fish (tuna), chicken, fruits, rice, eggs, salads and pastries. In general, probably, like everywhere else, after 10 days of rest, you already want Russian home cooking. Every day on the territory, where sunbeds prepare different dishes on the grill, it is very tasty. Every evening in the restaurant at dinner, music of different styles is played, it's also nice that people play live.
We were not very lucky with the weather, out of 10 days of rest, 4 days were rainy, but warm. The water in the ocean is constantly warm, even warmer at night, you can walk a little along the coast. The waves are not very big, just dive under the first one and then you can swim perfectly, like on the sea.
By the way, at the exit to the beach, to the right of the hotel there is a shop with inexpensive fruits. You can also order king prawns, lobsters from them, which they will cook deliciously and add some vegetables. We ordered a kilogram of lobsters and the price was 2500 rupees (about 625 rubles). The hotel food is much more expensive.
You can get to the town during the day to the supermarket, for this there are always tuk-tuks at the entrance to the hotel, and the drivers will be happy to take you for $ 20 (2500 rupees) and if you wish, you can walk around the town, wait for the shops, ( be sure to bargain in the souvenir shop) a tuk-tuker will be waiting for you and after everything will take you back to the hotel. There are also several beach-boys walking along the beach, which offer their services for excursions at prices lower than those of the hotel. It is better to buy alcohol in a shop that any tuk-tuk knows about and will show you. Prices are much lower than in a hotel. We made friends with a guy named Gayan, he has the cheapest prices, we went to the city with him for 1500 rupees. He also drove us to a seafood restaurant where we tried seafood and had a great view of the ocean. Gayan is a political person there, so he has several guys in his team, and he can organize a lot of different excursions, you can also bargain with him. He and his brother took us by tuk-tuk through several mountains in Tangalle, from where there is an excellent view of this province and Buddha statues on the peaks. We also went to Yala Park on a safari, at a price they paid 17.500 rupees (about 4.500 rubles) for two. If you collect more people, then the cost of the trip will be cheaper.
I would like to convey some impressions about the local massage, which is done by the local Saman. Its prices are half that of the hotel and it does really better, with soul and it is clear that with skill. A real Ayurvedic full body massage (1.5) hours can be done at Saman for $25. My wife and I went to him for almost the entire vacation, she tried different massages, both on the face and on the feet - a complete delight, very relaxing and after it a heavenly feeling. But I constantly gave him a back massage (1.500 rupees - about 375 rubles), even advised some exercises so that my back would not hurt. I advise you to visit these procedures at least once - complete relaxation. Here is his phone number 07.322 8009. He works until 4 pm on weekdays, but will call you back if you leave a message. On the day off, he sometimes comes to the beach to also offer tourists a massage. It's best to call him directly, because if you ask the beach boys about him, they will charge a little higher to keep some for themselves.
In general, the hotel is decent, minus the long drive from the airport, but for a family vacation or those who go on a romantic getaway together, it will definitely fit. Happy holidays and good weather.
Impressions are wonderful.
About the hotel.
I read previous reviews and am surprised, gentlemen, tourists want to get everything at once, wild untouched nature and impeccable service and conditions. I don’t think this happens, but the Ranna212 team tried to make it happen: a wild deserted beach, a wonderful ocean, sunrises and sunsets, and at the same time a completely European hotel with excellent rooms, good service, fulfilling almost all your whims at any time)
Wiring takes place, as elsewhere, you just need to be more careful. This is mainly due to the fact that the Sri Lankans do not understand English very well, and our brother does not have enough English to explain to them what they want, they just need to adapt a little.
Nice to have free WiFi in all rooms.
Simka take "Dialogue" - other operators are not caught there.
About food.
Quite good cuisine, there is both spicy food and not spicy, fresh juices for breakfast, fruits, bananas, watermelons, pineapples, papaya (not the season, however), except for the buffet every day they do something on the grill, for breakfast scrambled eggs with different fillers . Sea food is not very much, but in many dishes there is the freshest tuna, fish curry, salads and just grilled steaks. Every day for dinner themed days, Italian, Indian, Thai, etc. cuisine, live local-national musicians. Better take breakfast and dinner, because there really aren’t any cafes nearby, there are a couple of tents outside the territory where you can buy drinks, chocolates, etc. (they don’t have alcohol). For a more substantial one, you need to go to the nearest Tangalle (ask the Food-City market) a quite tolerable chain store, but again without alcohol, in Tangale it is sold in a separate place, ask the driver - he will tell you. By local law, places with alcohol are limited to the proximity of schools and temples.
Seafood - shrimp, lobsters, crabs, tuna, you can ask to catch local fishermen, or even yourself with them, go to the beach and see the boats on the right, go there and bargain, you can agree that they will cook them for you, on the shore or to your home will be invited.
Rest.
The ocean - there are no waves from November to February. The waves are not so much high as strong, if you stand waist-deep in water, it knocks you down. And so, dive under the waves and swim as fast as you like after the wave, it’s more difficult to get out, watch the waves and go into a pause or the smallest wave (it’s better, of course, for someone to navigate from the shore).
If you are afraid, let the tuk-tukers take you to the Kolomita place behind Tartal Bay (a bay with stones and ships), (on foot for an hour and a half along the beach to the left) there is a very good bay with small waves, as well as a fresh river. The sun is very insidious, use a cream of the 30th no less.
Body and soul.
On the first day we visited the hotel SPA, to put it mildly, we didn’t like it - the massage was mediocre for unrealistic money (
An excellent, real Ayurvedic massage can be obtained if you contact a local resident named Saman. A very sincere and pleasant person, sociable, speaks English, he can tell a lot of interesting things, we became friends with him very much. He has been engaged in massage for more than 10 years and it was he who trained many massage therapists in the district.
From his massage you will get a complete relaxation not only of the body, but also a complete relaxation of the mind. He has different programs, full body oil massage (1.5 - 1 hour), head massage, foot, face, back massage (30 min. )
Prices are 2 times lower than hotel prices.
The site claims yoga classes - they lie, they say the program is not ready yet.
But from the staff, a certain person named Don (room manager) himself practices yoga and will be happy to practice with you, he says that he has students in Russia as well.
Postili temple complex Multirigala, near Tangalle. A very old cave monastery consists of several tiers, each with a reclining Buddha, and paintings on the ceiling walls, each cave has its own theme. The bottom one is the oldest. At the very top, there is a beautiful view of Sri Lanka, even Adam's Peak is visible. In this monastery, a treatise was written - Tripitaka (80 years BC), before that it was passed from mouth to mouth. In general, in Lanka one of the most orthodox areas of Buddhism (Theravada or - "teaching of the elders").
We visited the temple complex in the neighboring city of Dikwella, where the largest sitting Buddha on the island (50 meters) is located, you can climb to the top (the “brain” of the Buddha) put your head in a special hole approximately in the cerebellum of the Buddha and the monk will read prayers. An interesting temple on the walls of which are depicted about 550 sins and their consequences - a strong impression (it is better not to go for the faint of heart).
We visited a tea plantation and the Undawalawe National Park. We saw elephants, a two-week-old baby elephant, peacefully sleeping and chewing grass, buffaloes, peacocks, monkeys, turtles, a crocadile, various birds, including a toucan, all this is just against the freaky background of the mountains.
There is not far from the hotel in the town of Kalamita (I wrote), but not by the sea, but further - a park with birds you can watch them, but it's better to ask the locals to ride a boat there are more birds, they say there are small crocodiles.
The downside is, of course, far from the airport, but maybe it's better that so far these places are not polluted by civilization.
For those who really want to relax their body and soul, forget about the bustle of the city - wellcome to the south of Sri Lanka! By the way, at the end of the year they promise to open an airport nearby, so hurry up.
And for those who care more about bringing beer to the pool on time - Turkey and Egypt are welcome.
That's all, I'll be glad if someone at least a little bit this review helps.
PS.
Wrote for the first time, if that do not kick hard : )) Good luck to everyone.
