We really liked the Eva Lanke 4 *. The hotel complemented completely unforgettable impressions of exotic Sri Lanka.
Settled in quickly. Although we arrived earlier, they didn’t bother us until 12 o’clock, and immediately after breakfast we were settled in a room.
The territory of the hotel is a Garden of Eden and a zoo at the same time. The rooms are old but made with love. The lights are really dim.
The beach is fabulous, the ocean is super!!! . Get a little beach-boys. The breakfasts are good and the dinners are great! The staff is polite and unobtrusive.
Want to come back again!! !
There is one but! ! - it takes a very long time to get from the airport, and given the driving style of the locals (they drive like savages) - this is a significant factor. We saw several accidents on the way to the hotel!!! ! As a result, upon returning from the excursion, they themselves had an accident - ended up in a city hospital with a concussion and other injuries - it's just awful! We liked the country, but we will not go there again.
The hotel has a large, beautiful area. Accommodation in separate houses, normal beds, working air conditioners, refrigerators, kettle, cups, hair dryer, towels. Do not expect hot water in the morning - water is heated by the sun in an elementary iron barrel, which is on the roof of the house. TV and wi-fi only at the reception, which turned out to be only +, because nothing was kept in the room and allowed more to enjoy the ocean, nature, books and just communication. In general, the atmosphere is quiet and calm. The staff (with the exception of a friend who sits at the reception and his name is Manju) is polite, friendly, not spoiled by our rudeness. Daily replenishment of 2 bottles of water 0.5 l, cleaning, change of towels and linen. There are mosquito nets on the windows, salamanders crawl on the walls inside, which eat insects and do not cause fear. The hotel has 2 swimming pools (a large one about 15-20 m near the reception and a small one with a diameter of 5-10 m near the descent to the beach) with sea water, allowing you to swim around the clock both at night and in the rain. Safe deposit box free of charge at the reception. From entertainment there is nothing at all. They wrote about squash - there is not even a playground, there are 2 dead tables for small tennis and that's it.
The hotel offers Ayurvedic massage services (they say it's not bad, but we haven't tried it), yoga lessons. The hotel's beach is beautiful, the sand is clean, large amber-yellow, very pleasant. Ocean waves are extinguished by the reef and reach the shore with a safe force that even children do not lick out of the water. Swimming on the waves near the shore is completely safe and brings a lot of joy to everyone.
The food at the hotel is a buffet. Breakfast is standard: croutons, scrambled eggs, rice, chicken, live local curd yogurt, sausages, bananas, mangoes, pineapple, coffee, tea, milk, etc. Lunch and dinner were not taken. We bought fruits at the market (extraordinarily tasty, sweet), yogurt in the store, kefir from buffalo milk - where do you eat this with us? There is a cafe on the beach and not far from the hotel 7-10 min walk. You can also take a tuk-tuk to Tangalla or Dikwella to cafes. no problem. Everyone speaks a little Russian. There are no bars, no nightclubs, no shops.
Excursions from the region are safe and even desirable to take from beach-boys, the prices from the tour operator go off scale. When you go down to the beach, choose who you like best. We took excursions from Mais and Shaminda, we were very pleased with the organization and attitude. Mais also organized a surf teacher for us. They were unhappy with Suren, an impudent type: they agreed to go with him to Dikwella to a tea shop, he didn’t go himself, put his brother behind the wheel, who didn’t understand anything in Russian, didn’t know where this tea shop was located, and then it turned out that he didn’t go at all closed on this day.
The climate in this part of the island is equatorial, so all year round the same temperature during the day is about + 28C. The ocean temperature is also about + 26-28C. Rain, or rather a tropical downpour, we found on the day of arrival, more precipitation was not observed. The amount of ultraviolet is enough to burn in the shade even with special creams. Tip: in the first half of the day, wear hats, sunbathe and swim in long-sleeved T-shirts.
I already want to go back.
In general, you need to tune in to rest, good mood and relaxation, and your vacation will be really the best, full of positive and only good memories !! !
Hotel Eva Lanka is a quiet, cozy romantic hotel, a privacy hotel, a relaxation hotel, a hotel that enjoys nature, the ocean and each other, created in a tropical style with local traditions: the reception, the hall and the restaurant are located only under a canopy without walls and windows . The hotel is located on a hill a few meters from the beach. WiFi is free only at the reception. Hotel management is low: a rude manager in a T-shirt and shorts with his legs on the table will not fulfill any of your requests. But the staff is polite, friendly, not spoiled by our rudeness.
The building is a detached two-story building with standard rooms, and there is also a chalet overlooking the garden and the ocean.
Attention, although the ocean view chalets are facing the ocean, not all have an open view of the ocean due to the overgrown lush vegetation. Only Chalets 5.6, 7 and 19 have an open view of the ocean! Chalets No. 18 and 19 have direct access to the small pool. Chalet No. 19 - located closest to the beach. The rooms are in need of renovation: window frames broken in places, rusty worn tiles, flimsy plumbing, weak hot water pressure, hard mattresses and hard bed linen. But there are also updated rooms. All rooms have a refrigerator, air conditioning, kettle, cups, hair dryer, towels. Attention, there are no TVs in the rooms. The hotel does not provide bath amenities (shampoo, gel, paste and brush). Daily replenishment of 2 bottles of water 0.5 l, cleaning, change of towels and linen. There are anti-mosquito nets on the windows, lizards crawl on the walls inside, which eat insects and do not cause fear. Tip: take an electric fumigator.
The hotel has 2 swimming pools (a large one about 15-20 m near the reception and a small one with a diameter of 5-10 m near the descent to the beach) with sea water, allowing you to swim around the clock both at night and in the rain. Safe deposit box free of charge at the reception. Umbrellas - free of charge. From entertainment only squash. Animation is completely absent. The hotel offers Ayurvedic massage services. But outside the hotel, such a massage can be found at half the price.
The territory is terraced, professionally thought-out landscape design allows vacationers to practically not collide with each other, stylish chalets are hidden in lush and flowering greenery from prying eyes - chipmunks, birds of paradise, parrots, bats, lizards are everywhere. It creates a feeling of relaxation as in your own villa. The slope of the territory is small, smooth, only access to the beach along a few steps, as if going down to the 1st floor.
The hotel's beach is one of the most beautiful, cozy, comfortable on the entire southwestern and southern coast, quite long in a small bay with overhanging palm trees and has several zones. To the left of the entrance behind the cape (5 min) there is a lagoon where you can absolutely retire. It gives the impression of an uninhabited paradise island. To the right of the entrance there are 6 free wooden sunbeds. Ocean waves are damped by the reef and reach the shore with a safe force that even children can not lick out of the water. Swimming on the waves near the shore is completely safe and brings a lot of joy to everyone. Ficus and other coastal trees provide natural shade for the whole day. The sand is clean, large, amber-yellow, crunches underfoot, does not muddy the water. There are both rocky places and a convenient gradual sandy entry into the ocean from the shore.
The reef is deeper, not as colorful as in Egypt, sometimes inanimate, snorkeling is not impressive and even dangerous due to powerful ocean waves and protruding islands of stones. Beach towels are provided free of charge, but they are not always available in the required quantity.
The food at the hotel is a buffet. Breakfast is standard: croutons, scrambled eggs, live local curd yogurt, sausages, bananas, mango, pineapple, coffee, tea, milk, etc. Lunch was not taken. Dinner is always different, I advise: pork, beef, seafood (there were even lobsters and tiger prawns), pasta, 2 rice dishes, 4 vegetarian dishes, baked sea fish, sweets, coffee, tea, milk. Beer $4, fresh juices $4 (thinned with water). Portion in a cafe on the beach during the daytime fish $8-10, shrimp $10-12, squid $12-15. Eating safely and deliciously.
The infrastructure outside the hotel is not developed, the hotel is located apart from the village, a couple of cafes from a few kilometers from the hotel 7-10 minutes on foot.
There are no bars, no nightclubs, no shops.
The climate in this part of the island is equatorial, so all year round the same temperature during the day is about + 28C. The ocean temperature is also around +28C. At the beginning of December 2013 it was mostly partly cloudy, more often the sun's rays were not direct, but through the haze of clouds. Despite this amount of ultraviolet radiation, it is enough to burn in the shade without special creams. Advice: the degree of protection of the cream is preferably at least 50, otherwise burns are guaranteed even for skin that is not dark or easily tanned. Precipitation systematically every other day in the evening or at night, only once in 8 days it rained in the afternoon. Despite the high humidity of the air, it is very easy to breathe, the feeling of absolute comfort is neither stuffy nor hot.
Transfer from Colombo airport takes about 4.5-5 hours, taking into account all the new autobahns. For example, Air Arabia arrives at 13.30 local time. Departure from the airport at 14.00. Autobahn to Colombo 30 min.
Transfer through Colombo 14.30-15.30. Autobahn Colombo - Gale 130 km 15.30 - 17.00. Winding narrow road among the settlements of Gale-Tangalle 64 km 17.00-18.30. The route is interesting through Colombo, tropical forests, coconut groves, tea plantations and villages. Fatigue from the road immediately passes as soon as you find yourself in a hotel. You understand - the road is worth such a heavenly place.
Excursions from the region are safe and even desirable to take from beach-boys, the prices from the tour operator go off scale. Group “Ocean whale watching by boat” from 7 am to 11 am 50$/person; individual in Galle (Ayurveda garden shop, turtle beach, fort, lighthouse, jewelry factory, elephant riding, Buddha temple, tea plantation and jungle factory) from 11 am to 6 pm 25$/person. “Safari in Yalla park + Ravana Eliya waterfall in the mountains” from 5 to 16 hours 50$/person. To the right of the entrance to the beach - Suren, to the left of the entrance - Sean 071-326-55-48. You choose who you like best, we took from both, we liked both the organization and the service.
Flight Air Arabia has nuances. No one guarantees a place nearby, and even more so near the window, even if you are the first to come to check-in. They can plant all the way to Colombo in different rows. Rows 9 and 10 without seat adjustment, God forbid! Online registration for tickets in package tours is not provided (Alcohol is not offered on board and it is forbidden to drink those bought in duty free. Meals can be bought on board, rice dishes are quite tasty. There is no entertainment on board, on the Colombo-Sharjah segment 4 hours on the monitors flashes at least data about the flight, and on the segment Kyiv-Sharjah 5 hours - the monitors are generally turned off. One salvation is to drink before the flight and sleep. At Sharjah airport, the departure zone is separated by customs control. Therefore, all purchases, as well as a snack, should be done before passing If you don't want change in local dirhams, then a double cheeseburger and french fries at McDonald's will be exactly $10.
Duty free in Sharjah is much more modest than in Colombo.
Souvenirs: tea, magnets, key chains, jewelry - you can buy in Colombo before departure. But it is cheaper to do it at local merchants in the holiday region. Sri Lanka is replete with precious stones, the price of jewelry will pleasantly surprise you. Fruit and shells were taken out without problems in the luggage in the box. It is forbidden to export rough gems and corals.
Eva Lanka is a solid 3-star hotel in terms of service, facilities and room stock. But a cozy area, like a botanical garden and one of the most beautiful beaches on the entire coast, compensate for all the shortcomings for those who want solitude, contemplation of nature and enjoyment of safe swimming in the Indian Ocean.
