Rested with my husband in Koggala, Long Beach Hotel - with the most beautiful and huge sandy beach. Settled in quickly. The room at first disappointed us - the safe does not work, there is no kettle, the tap is staggering. But! They quickly replaced the safe, brought the kettle, repaired the faucet - and all this without any tip! The smell in the room is heavy, it seems that the clothes are a little damp, but this is the humidity of the air near the ocean. We immediately forgot about all these “problems” when we went out onto the balcony and saw the Ocean!
The ocean conquers you at first sight, all the days the lines sounded in your head: “. . . The ocean will boil, raise a howl, pour onto an empty shore, splash in a noisy run... ”
During the entire stay, the staff did not bother. They lived like on a desert island, chipmunks run around the territory, climb onto the balcony. Across the road, along the railway tracks, peacocks walk with whole families, we saw a mongoose in the village, and a monitor lizard gracefully crossed the road for us.

The hotel only took breakfast. They are hearty and delicious! Husband loved the fried bacon.
There were few tourists due to recent events in the world. Hotel guides cannot recruit groups for excursions. Having read a lot of reviews before the trip, we completely entrusted our leisure time to the local beach-boy (guide) Kumar, which we never regretted. Traveled half the island with him. Since now there are few tourists, the tour turned out to be individual for us. My husband and I, Kumar's guide and driver in a cool Honda car.
For the first time in the city of Galle, we went by tuk-tuk for 200 rupees (a ridiculous amount) from Kumar. We walked around the city, visited the fortress, breathed in the smell of the fish market. And back, any tuk-tuk driver asked us 1000 rupees, we barely agreed for 800. There is a huge supermarket in Galle with a large selection of tea, toothpaste, cosmetics and various sweets. Everywhere prices are reasonable. The next time we went to Galle by tuk-tuk for 400 rupees both ways (thanks Kumar) with a stop at the currency exchange office at a favorable rate. A tuk-tuk was waiting for us near the supermarket. Having spent a little time, we quickly drove, successfully skimped, and spent the whole day on our beach.
We would stay at this hotel again. It is for those who do not like noisy beaches, but appreciate the silence and beauty of nature. And she's amazing here!
