We chose the hotel very carefully, because we went to the country for the first time. There are about 10 countries on my account, in exotic countries there are only five hotels. This time we decided to take a chance and did not regret it! We set ourselves up in advance not to expect much from the hotel, which is probably why we were pleasantly surprised.
Food - excellent. There are spicy dishes, there are not. For every taste. A lot of fruits. We had breakfast and dinner - quite enough. Tea, coffee, water, juice with this food system is included in the price and in bars you can drink for free. The rooms have tea, coffee, cream, kettle. We had a deluxe ocean view. I advise! The rooms are big and clean. Nobody asked us for tips. They gave it - good, they didn't give it - they left in silence. If you are facing the ocean, then it is better to take rooms on the left side of the hotel, because the generator is noisy on the right. Although ...we did not interfere, we sleep soundly. At first, 2 small lizards lived in the room, then they crawled away : )) Mosquitoes were not particularly met, no more than in Kyiv.
The beach is excellent, located behind the hotel's fence and sun loungers are not placed directly on the beach and do not sunbathe. The sand is not white, but having traveled all the way down to Unawatuna, they concluded that they were not mistaken with the choice of the hotel and the coast. To go or not to go to Tangerine? I will answer this way: if a person came deliberately to find a flaw in something and criticize everything and everything with a disgruntled face, then do not go. There are disadvantages there. And there is no animation, and it’s boring in the evenings (except for live music), and the furniture is a bit old and the gap under the door on the balcony is too big ...But this did not bother us, because we love new countries and new impressions very much and a small pressure of water in the bathroom can’t spoil the mood for us for sure : )))

Separately, I want to say about excursions:
We are 2 girls, nothing is enough : )) therefore, the option of an excursion with a beach scourge was treated very negatively. AND....
on the first day we met on the beach with a wonderful little man whose name is Ara (Aravinda de Silva). Even before arriving in Sri Lanka, we read a lot of reviews on the Internet, armed ourselves with guides' phones, but for some reason that is still unclear, this little man simply fascinated us. At the hotel we met 4 more Russians and together (6 people) went on excursions with him 3 times during the rest. Savings in comparison with the offer of a hotel guide - 70 USD per person. on a 2-day tour of the triangle. We discussed everything with him point by point, because I am very much against stupid swindle. But, to be honest, we did not fully believe that we would visit all the promised places. Visited! Even more! The 1st excursion was a "classic triangle" for 2 days. Overnight at a 3 star hotel in Kandy.
A very good hotel with a gorgeous view from the balcony of the whole city and monkeys in the morning : )) Everything is cheaper for the local population - if the entrance to the elephant nursery for a white man costs 22 dollars, for a Sri Lankan - 10, to Sigiriya for whites 27 dollars, for a Sri Lankan 2 R. cheaper. And in general I want to wish you to be sincere and polite with them. Believe me, the Sri Lankans will reciprocate! Of course, they have their own percentage of tourists in stores. Well, where else? This is their business. but having welded on us 5 dollars not agreed in advance, fruits, nuts, etc. , they gave us 20 dollars for free! And not because we are girls without an escort, such an attitude towards everyone, regardless of appearance, gender and age.

I highly recommend Aru as a guide. Honestly, we did not expect such care, such attention, such immediate sincere childishness and at the same time professionalism. He knows English well, Russian - everything you need : )) But now he is learning Russian. It is quite possible to communicate.
He knows a lot about the country and will gladly introduce you to it. But! If someone is interested in what year the botanical garden was founded, it’s unlikely ...I personally forget such information myself after 15 minutes. But then you will smell every pleasantly smelling flower, you will see the coolest plants with leaves that curl up when touch it and ....you can’t write everything! Yes! He also plays the drums and sings amazingly. Ask him to take the drum - he does it with pleasure!
Ara, thank you so much! You are a very intelligent, smart, sincere, caring, kind person and an excellent guide! No bias - Ara is a professional who helped us see and love our beautiful country. Absolutely safe for girls : ) If you travel like us, without men - you can safely trust him!
I hope that my recommendation will help at least a little not only for Ares in business, but also for many tourists to avoid various unpleasant situations with local guides.

Praised on all forums, Nuvan is serving a sentence in places not so remote for raping a Russian girl (not the first!!! ), is currently released on bail and also carries tourists. As a good guide, as a person - I think clearly. Communicated - horror. For girls without male accompaniment, even the locals will not recommend it to you! We also talked with Asanka (they chose between him and Ara) - Ara won : )) Ukrainians vacationing with us at the same time went on all excursions with Dylan - they also responded very well. True, he is somewhat more mercantile than Ara.
You can find Aru on the beach just by asking any local who all know each other. Or in a cafe (if you stand with your back to Tangerine, then to the right is a cafe under the flags).
He can also drive up to any other hotel on the coast. Punctual. I was pleasantly surprised by the professionalism and neatness of his driver, a clean car with air conditioning.
