We booked this guesthouse through Agoda. Of the advantages of this guest house, only relatively new rooms, green area and housekeeping can be noted. So. Upon arrival, and we arrived at about 18:00, the boy at the reception puzzled us with the fact that our room did not have a balcony and overlooked the road. How on the road! ? - we were surprised. Indeed, on the hotel website and on Agoda (Tripadviser and Booking) it is clearly written that the guesthouse has 10 rooms with balconies and ocean views! That's why we booked it! The boy ran to consult with the "boss". The boss is a tall, bald Sri Lankan with yellow whites of his eyes (what could it be from? ) and a deceitful smile from ear to ear. By habits and manner of speaking: a former Sri Lankan cop. He told us that if we had not booked a room through Agoda, but had contacted him personally (paid in cash in his pocket), then in this case he would have settled us in a decent room. And so settle down where there is. But maybe tomorrow, with a small surcharge: for only $20 a night, we can be upgraded to a room with a balcony and an ocean view. At 12:0.3 rooms should be released. Now you will spend the night in No. 207, but in the morning...
No. 207 - a room with a double bed and a wardrobe. And EVERYTHING (no chair, no table, no other frills). The air conditioner does not work, there is no ceiling fan (there are none in the rest of the guest rooms), there is no hot water. Of all the benefits of civilization, one outlet without an adapter and free Wi-Fi, but at the speed that I had on Dale-Up in 1997 - it took 10 minutes to check the mail! The night spent in this room, after a long road from Nuwara Eliya, across the Horton Plateau (with a promenade to the "End of the World") was remembered... The windows cannot be opened - there is heavy traffic on the street, buses roar, and exhaust fumes stink. The room is stuffy, hot and mosquitoes. At 2 o'clock in the morning, when the traffic of cars decreased a little, we nevertheless opened all the windows in the "glass", spat on mosquitoes and, sweating, fell into a restless sleep. At 6 o'clock in the morning the traffic again gained full strength. Climb!
At breakfast (included in the price), "Javanand" (I'll call the yellow-squirrel so for brevity), exposing all his teeth, inquired: Well, how are you, okay? On mine, no. Surprised - Why? I really wanted to explain why, but there was not enough knowledge of the language. To my question - How is it with the number? Answer - Yes, one number will be at 12 (yesterday there were three to choose from).
About breakfast. Powdered omelette (on a platter, cold), chicken sausages (spicy), fried tomatoes, a bowl of curd, bananas, chopped pineapple, bread, some juice, tea, coffee. This is all.
At 10:30 we go to reception. Davanand is right there. To my question: how can people be accommodated in such a room and when will we finally be relocated. Javananda started yelling at us. The meaning of the ora is in a nutshell: you are in my country, you will be at home, and make claims there, but here I am the owner, if I want, I will call the police in general and they will take you away from here !! ! On mine, evil: -Riel? ! Words, friend! (Tambov wolf is your friend) Javananda is retreating.
The wife went to the room, she had no strength left. And I decided to walk around the area. In 40 minutes I found 2 options in the neighborhood in small guesthouses with large air-conditioned rooms. For $30 and $40 per night. He said both there and there (in sign language) that I would consult with my wife and, probably, I would come in an hour. I return to my wife. Javanand is wiping himself at the reception. As if nothing had happened, teeth on display. The number is ready. You can relocate. I want to see first.
No. 204. The size is the same as 207. The room has a bed with an anti-mosquito net, a wardrobe, air conditioning, two bedside tables, sconce lamps above them, a large nightstand, a balcony with a side view of the ocean, 2 beach chairs barely fit on the balcony . In general, you can spend 2 nights.
I go to my wife and draw the situation. Strength is dragging in the heat somewhere, with two suitcases, really gone. Fuck him. We remain.
The first night the air conditioner died. Instead of cold, hot, moist air rushed in. We were saved by an open balcony: when, after 24:00, the wind blew from the ocean and there was also an anti-mosquito net on the bed (there are a huge number of mosquitoes, and their bites, although small, do not go away for 5 days).
Of all the other services of this guesthouse, we "tasted" only dinner in the evening of the last day. The fact is that in Dickwell there is nowhere to eat, for a European. On the first evening after the resettlement, we found a small local feeder with "this food" in the name. Spicy, tasty enough, but not cheap. The next evening was a day off and when we got there, almost everything was occupied by not very sober natives. There is nowhere to go - they returned to Javananda. Another alternative was the restaurant at the Dikwella Resort Hotel, 4 km away. and very expensive (I know from the experience of the last visit). So dinner for two: tomato puree soup, small shrimp with rice, Lion beer total $ 46.25 Everything except beer is tasteless!
If any of you, after reading my review, want to visit this guesthouse, it's up to you. But I STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND IT!
Remark.
There were not 10 rooms in the guesthouse, with balconies and a gorgeous view of the ocean. And only 4.4 more overlooking the ocean and the neighbors on the left. 2 more - with a micro-balcony and a side view. 2 more with a large balcony from which you can shake hands with a person on a balcony overlooking the ocean. ALL THE OTHER ARE ON THE ROAD. There are 27 rooms in total.
Who cares - there is no pool in the guesthouse.
Some prices: beach short, washed towels - $ 2 per day; beer "Lion" - $ 4 per bottle; complex dinner (in quality and variety it is quite similar to breakfast) - $ 12. Iron - free of charge.
Draw your own conclusions.
Have a nice holiday everyone.
