Paradise vacation on Lanochka
So, let's start in order. After reading a lot of reviews about Sri Lanka, how, where, when, they chose Hikkaduwa. There were criteria - proximity to the ocean (the most that neither is), a boring place and, if you're lucky, coral reefs. All this and even more is in Hikkaduwa. The flight is long, but this is nonsense compared to those we went to the hotel! )) We drove 6 hours! ) Instead of 4.5, when we were already driving back (after resting at the airport). Disembarkation, boarding of passengers, but we drove back along the toll road and very quickly. In general, having abandoned all the vacationers in hotels along the way, we and 12 people with us on the bus unloaded at the Hikkaduwa Beach hotel. (read about it in the hotels section). We were immediately presented with juice and wet smelling towels, although we all wanted to eat one thing !! )) We settled in two minutes, the request with an ocean view was practically satisfied, it was visible, but obliquely)) As it turned out in the rooms with a direct view the Germans were already living on the ocean, but they arrived earlier. I already decided by a sinful deed that, as always, an advantage for the Germans and the British, but I was mistaken, after three days they left and our Ukrainians lived in their place. So no discrimination. Sri Lanochka is a country of smiling people, the ocean, fruits. seafood, surfing, elephants, turtles and a carefree life. . . this is how I saw this island. The ocean is near our hotel-lagoon, where everyone swims, from locals to vacationers from neighboring hotels "China Trans", "Coral Lanka" and "Citrus". Since there is no beach there. To the left of the hotel along the beach, near the China Trans hotel, turtles swim into the lagoon. Go there in the morning from 7-8 hours, they are already there. There are 4 of them in total, you can feed and enjoy their grace). In the lagoon on the beach, the fish are right on the shore. fed them with bread, a tube mask or just glasses, and you are in the underwater world of the Indian Ocean. There are hedgehogs, but not near the shore, be careful. By the way, they are not only black, but also pink came across. There is no beach near the hotel. since the hotel fence is right by the water, you can also swim there, but the ocean is more powerful there, for those. who likes to jump on the waves. The town itself (or rather the village) is small, but cozy, cheerful with its nightlife. Lots of cafes and restaurants where you can eat tasty and cheap. We ate at Tigri and Red Lobster - they are opposite each other. if you leave the hotel, narpavo, on the left side of the road - Red Lobster - opposite Tigri, walk for about 7 minutes. You can also walk along the beach in Tigri, which we did). The portions are huge everywhere, even for men)). so before ordering, ask, otherwise I somehow didn’t master the Thai seafood dish, but at my request they packed it with me. There is a waiter in Red Lobster, I don’t remember the name, he speaks excellent Russian and even knows a few Ukrainian phrases). Yes, a very convenient menu in English and Russian. All for the people. Try the lassi, as the same waiter explained to us - it's fresh yoghurt. Yummy! . They also ate lobster, as without it). Souvenirs. In Hikkaduwa you can buy everything, well, or almost everything that is in Sri Lanka. Walk along Galle Road and bargain, bargain, sometimes the prices are unreasonably high. Fruit and fish market, if you leave the hotel, to the left, you will see something painted with blue paint under a canopy - this is the market. Fruits are cheap and varied. I liked mangosteen, rambutan, tried adoba (so-so). . and of course pineapples, papaya, bananas and coconuts. how without them. bought home pineapples, I regret that I took only two, they cost 140 rupees, it seems, a little more than a dollar. Juicy, so take it - you can bring fruits as much as you want. We went on excursions with a local guide, Saman, his name is. A very decent person. to the lagoon, spice garden, a small hut called "tsunami museum", a mine where moonstone is mined, a turtle farm, in the lagoon until sunset, eating pineapples and mangoes in the mangroves and all this for 20 shares. from a person! We left at 1pm and returned at 7pm! It was unforgettable! We were in Kandy, if not for the youth, we would also go with Saman, but there were not enough of us, in general we went with a guide from Kazakhstan! The trip is awesome! Cheerful, very good Russian-speaking guide, everything is great! . But on our hotel guide, who went, complained, in a hurry, flew, did not feed. there quickly, we didn’t stop in some places, in general, at a gallop. We also traveled on our own in Galle, near the hotel there is a bus stop to Galle - about 36 rupees, 40 minutes and you are in the city with amazing views! The town is reminiscent of Europe. Be sure to go, there is something to see and souvenirs to buy. there is also a Catholic temple, the temple of Shiva. We were 8 days, it's not enough of course. . so there is always a reason to return to this wonderful country again! . And we will definitely be back! ! Ask, write, I will be glad to help in any way I can.
