Impressions of Lanka, were the first time, March-April 2013
Good day to all!
We arrived in Sri Lanka on March 28 and departed on April 10.2013. There were many fears, our whole company was in India and everyone was afraid that Sri Lanka is the same India (not because India is bad, we just wanted something different), we were mistaken and realized this as soon as we entered the airport building. The airport has a wonderful duty free, cleanliness and coolness. The island itself is clean and the population is following the improvement. Everything is green and colorful, bright and beautiful. There were also concerns about the weather, since April is considered the end of the season, and on all weather sites, throughout our holiday, the forecast was not encouraging: thunderstorms, rain, hurricane winds. Fortunately for us, the forecast was not correct, it rained three times during the entire vacation and was purely symbolic, only on the day of our departure there was a thunderstorm.
We rested in CAMELOT BEACH 3 * hotels, located on Negombo beach. The hotel was chosen based on its proximity to the airport.
We flew from Samara, the flight was 4.30 to Dubai, 1.30 to Dubai between flights and 4.20 from Dubai to Colombo. The road is very tiring and I didn’t want to drive to the hotel for 3 hours at all, that’s why we chose CAMELOT BEACH 3 *, it takes 20-30 minutes from the airport. Arrived late at night and were seated right away. The hotel itself is located on the beach, which we really liked, there is also where to go out in the evening, many restaurants and shops. There are no complaints about the hotel, everything is great, and the location, and the staff, and the food. Cleaned every day, water in the room brought a bottle per person. The breakfasts are good, omelets, pancakes or pancakes, some kind of meat, fish, muffins, fruits and juices. Everything is fresh and tasty, we had enough. They only took breakfast.
The beach is yellow and black sand. In the morning it is cleaned by a special car and a hotel worker. They read that you can’t enter the water in Negombo, it’s not true! The waves, of course, are not small, but only if at the entrance they strain, moving a little further, they swam calmly!
The ocean is clean, warm and gentle, but the waves lift the sand, and when you exit the water, you still find yourself in it. But these are generally trifles.
And returned to Negombo, where the remaining days enjoyed the beach and the ocean. We ate at the Tuskin restaurant, I can make mistakes in spelling, but something like this, of all the restaurants near the hotel, the most, the food is fresh, tasty, the portions are large, the staff is courteous and friendly!
If you are going to Sri Lanka, do not be afraid of multi-day tours! Day trips will not give you an idea of this wonderful place. Be sure to take insect repellent, although they did not bother us much. And you need to take into account the long distances between beaches and attractions, for example, from Unawatuna to Negombo, it takes 4 to 6 hours to travel. All beaches are different and very beautiful. Colombo passed by, didn’t like it, terrible traffic jams, there’s nothing special to see, only if the center is with parliament.
We will be happy to return to Sri Lanka and see the remaining 2/3 of the island!
