Getting a Thai Tourist Visa in Jakarta
When preparing the trip, we used reviews, unfortunately, some of the information turned out to be outdated. Briefly about my experience. February 2018.
From Pattaya (http://ge0. me/40h1nzM2fW/bus_to_Suvarnabhumi_Airport) we took a bus to Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK). Departure was from a / p Don Mueang (DMK). There is a free bus to Don Mueang on the 2nd floor of Suvarnabhumi Airport Exit 3, you must show your boarding pass or flight tickets from Don Mueang. Perhaps the travel time depends on the time of day. We drove in the evening. The bus was driving on a toll road, so there were no special traffic jams, and nevertheless, the travel time was almost an hour.
In the reviews it was that in Don Mueang, after passing through passport control, there are 7/11. Perhaps it used to be, but now it is gone, so don't count on buying cheap water, etc. There is a free cooler with hot and cold water. There are enough sockets.
We arrived in Jakarta at one in the morning, so we did not count on the bus. It was not possible to buy a local SIM card at the airport. Exchanger at the exit. The course is good. They don't take taxes like banks do. On the plane, instead of a migration card, they gave me some new form, where the main questions were about how much money and whether there were food. It was proposed to pass through the red corridor with one positive answer. Since they arrived at night, only he worked. Indeed, they let our hand luggage through the scanner. We had food with us in the form of chips, but we let it pass quietly, and the guy who was following us began to open his suitcase. We don’t know how it ended.
According to reviews, a taxi from the airport to the city center is 90-120 thousand Indonesian rupiah. Apparently this is from the ability to bargain. We managed to bring down from 350 only to 200. But the night is somehow not very conducive to haggling. Moreover, we drove back by uber during the day and the price was a little less than 180 thousand, although we actively used uber all week and the price tag was very pleasing. It was more profitable to ride it than by bus.
Takes mansion&hotel - it can't be worse. The only plus point is the location and the rooftop pool. Was chosen because of the promotion on Booking. com. For the deluxe they asked for 1700 rubles. Photos do not correspond to the word AT ALL! Declared room 25 sq. m. In reality 12-15! No refrigerator or wardrobe. But at 3 a. m. , they didn’t arrange a showdown. We recognize our....a strange act - they paid a rhinestone at night for the whole week. The next day after visiting the Thai consulate, they tried to take the money, but they began to offer other numbers, one worse than the other, citing that the money could not be returned because it was already "in the system. " After demanding to invite the manager, a normal, conditionally, number was found and we decided to stay.
An English-speaking woman approached the reception with the same problem, but she was convinced that she was given a room even better than she booked. Apparently, the local mentality worked, that in our case a man was talking to them, and she was alone. There is only one conclusion - this hotel is not worth the declared money. Although it is now surprising that out of 48 reviews about him, only one was conditionally bad. Now I have added one more, but already specifically negative. Changed 5 in 7 days! numbers. And not because they are capricious. It's just that instead of fixing the toilet, they just changed the room. The rooms were in the new building on the 5th floor and in the old 3.4, 5 floors.
The Thai Embassy is located at - http://ge0. me/4em9dHxc3T/Embassy_of_Thailand
When purchasing a ticket, keep in mind that they make a visa 3!!! ! working days. For the first time we encountered that the photo did not suit, although not old and of normal quality. Sent to the Ambassador shopping center (http://ge0. me/0em9dN7oDz/Mall_Ambasador), where they took an urgent photo for 500 thousand and gave a disk . We suspect that this is a baited place. Vouchers for the delivery of documents give up to 12, although they work until one. Ridiculously they find fault with every piece of paper. Together with us, a young couple came for the second time, as they demanded some additional copies. We were required to have a marriage certificate translated into Thai or English, as my husband wrote me a sponsorship letter. After explaining that any stranger can be a sponsor, the clerk called up the management 10 times, clarified everything. As a result, they simply changed the form of the sponsorship letter. In general, compared with Vietnam and Moscow, complete tin.
The money was well exchanged in the same Ambassador on the 2nd floor. Look for the "Money Changer" sign.
Exchange in the bank on the street killed!!! ! Unfortunate 200 bucks changed half an hour. Only tests and fingerprints were not taken. But they took the tax.
Alcohol can be bought in supermarkets located on floors 0-1 of expensive hotels. Local horror cigarettes and the price tag is not very humane.
An important addition. The reviews wrote that upon departure, you need to have 150 thousand rupees per person. Now it's gone. Everything is in the ticket price. Be very careful at the departure terminal. There are very large distances between them. We had 3 on the ticket, and when booking seats, 2 came out. Since the flight was a day flight, it was 30 kilometers from Jakarta to the airport, it took almost 2 hours. On the toll road. We left at terminal 2 and then trotted to the Sky train at 3.
I really liked the city itself, although we are not fans of megacities. Lots of skyscrapers. Clean on the main streets. The people are much friendlier than the Thais. Many speak English very well. Someone wrote that the city has chic 7/11. According to Google, they were closed forever.
About our favorite sightseeing tour. Fig us. There are only private guides with a horse price tag, which must be written off in advance. Street helpers who rub at interesting places are, as usual, just bred. So I advise you to make a route yourself and look with your eyes when you reach the ubere. We didn’t use the others, although they have a lot of Grab.
According to reviews, we visited a fish restaurant. Below is a quote from the review. Pondok Laguna. This is a super popular, always crowded Jakarta fish restaurant. Many consider it one of the best Indonesian restaurants in the capital. It has a capacity of at least 200 people, but at lunchtime people form queues to grab a free table and try the establishment's signature dish, fried gourami fish. In general, the institution specializes in seafood and traditional Indonesian dishes. The restaurant is not distinguished by the beauty of design, it is a classic Indonesian seafood restaurant. Opening hours: daily from 11:00 to 15:00 and from 17:30 to 22:00. Address: Jalan Batu Tulis Raya 45, Jakarta
At half past three, we reserved a table for 17:30. It was strange that they offered to place an order right away. There are only pictures on the menu. Prices on a separate leaflet, in which the waiter himself was poorly oriented. We ordered the vaunted gourami, lobster with cheese, some balls with shrimp and vegetables in the dough (it turned out to be the only tasty dish) and two local beers. They brought 2 lobsters, which made me nervous about the final bill. It's good that it turned out that the price was per kilogram, and since the lobsters were small, there were two of them. As for the gourami, of course, everyone has their own taste, but it was just some kind of mummified (highly fried) fish. It looked appetizing in the photo. The lobsters were also so dry that they were hard to bite. Only these balls and pleased. The bill is just over $60. Concerning the big loading of restaurant. Debatable. Although it is possible that later the people are added. At one time there were 10-15 people with us. The restaurant itself is pretty nice. But I would not recommend the fish.
Good luck to everyone!
