Two days in Budapest with kids
We arrived in Budapest from Slovakia. Here we planned to stay for 3 days, but time constraints forced us to abandon one night in favor of more time at sea in the future.
We turned off the autobahn in the direction indicated by the navigator and soon arrived at the hotel. Palota City Hotel, small, cozy, with its own indoor pool. There is a small parking lot.
A big program is planned for the morning, to some extent even a very big one. Some of the planned events were not destined to be fulfilled.
After breakfast we go by car to Varosliget park. Here in the shade of trees there is always a place for free parking. Local "actors" enthusiastically show free parking spaces, their "work" is absolutely superfluous, since it's still early and there are a lot of places.
First of all, we go to the city zoo. We buy tickets, there are no forints, we pay by credit card. Wait, take a map of the zoo, you can see how big it is.
The park is divided into thematic zones: Australia, Savana, Japan, etc. Everywhere there are various signs that help you navigate easily.
Zoo
Moving along the route we get into the bansai zone. It feels like in a steam room, very humid. The heat outside adds to the discomfort. However, the organizers of the zoo came up with an interesting solution.
Shower
A refreshing outdoor shower allows you to cool down for a while. Many visitors queue up to cool off.
I was very impressed by the Australian territory, where kangaroos and small ostriches roam. A cave was also made here, in which bats and foxes live. But they do not sit in cages, but on the ground, trees and stones in the immediate vicinity of visitors. Such interactive communication is obtained.
Savannah
The zoo presents a huge variety of animals, birds and insects. There is also a performance of Korean seals, which attracts many visitors.
For young children, there is a playground with various attractions. We, like many visitors with children, used it to take a breath.
Playground
Three hours flew by at the zoo. We ate and went to the Szé chenyi Baths, which are located nearby. There are many thermal springs in Budapest.
Szechenyi Baths
They are known for their healing properties, which is what we need to recuperate after spending time on the road. Having stood in a rather impressive queue, we became the owners of a family ticket. It's like in a water park: a bracelet on your hand, you change clothes, things in a closet and to the water.
Szechenyi Baths
It was very hot, there were a lot of people who wanted to take a dip. At first, the impression was that the whole of Budapest came here to take water procedures. After some time, you get used to the crowd, and you just enjoy it.
It makes no sense to go into the history of these baths, there is a lot of necessary information on various sites. But it should be noted that the architectural design adds a sense of luxury and comfort. Outdoor and indoor swimming pools with different water temperatures and properties.
On the way from the Baths to Vajdahunyad Castle, we looked into the station of one of the oldest metro stations in the world, built in 1896. The tunnel is laid at a depth of no more than 5 meters.
Another one of the most beautiful places in Budapest is Vajdahunyad. There is a moat around the castle, like in a medieval fortress.
Entrance through a massive gate. Like many visitors to the castle, we do not bypass the sculpture of Ananimnus - an unknown chronicler who wrote "The Acts of the Hungarians" in the 12th century. According to legend, if you rub the pen in the hand of Ananimnus, then talent will descend on you. Here are the future geniuses and rubbed the pen to a shine.
We spent some more time on the castle grounds with pleasure, then took a walk in the park, and in the end, tired, we went to the hotel.
Budapest is literally woven from many beautiful buildings and iconic historical sites, and to appreciate all this magnificence, a week spent in the city will not be enough. Therefore, we left Budapest with a feeling of dissatisfaction, but with a great desire to return.
Have a nice trip everyone!
