Do I need to go to Centedre from Budapest? Day two of the Alpine Trio tourAfter a sightseeing tour of Budapest, we were offered an optional tour in Centedre. Even at home, I wondered if I should go there? But, being in Budapest for the fourth time, I have never been to this town. Therefore, I decided to fill this gap in the Hungarian program and signed up for an elective. Almost the whole group went there. Our guide in Budapest was the famous Anatoly. This man is in love with the history of Hungary, and he tries to convey this love to tourists. Anatoly took us to Centedra. While we were driving there, he did not stop talking for a minute, he kept talking about the history of the towns surrounding Budapest. Well, in the town of Centedre itself, he conducted a wonderful tour through the old streets of the city, then led us to the center to the marzipan museum. In the museum, we were treated to pieces of marzipan and let us walk around the small halls of the museum ourselves. We were given 30 minutes to visit the museum. The museum is small, and this was enough to see the best exhibits. Most of the people crowded around the marzipan Lady Diana, Michael Jackson and the Chocolate Girl. And in the back room, the master was already working on new figures of Batman and some new lady. At the exit, one could buy ordinary marzipans by weight and by the piece. After the museum, our leader took everyone to a local restaurant. Restaurant is too big a name for this cafe. The flavor of this restaurant was simpler than Paprika in Budapest. But their prices are comparable. For goulash soup, chicken breast baked in cheese, and a glass of white wine, they charged me 13 euros. But the portion of the main course was huge, and I had to ask to pack half of the portion with me. But now I was with dinner! While we were having lunch, I got to know some of my fellow travelers better. Then we stayed together for the whole tour. This was a married couple and my roommate. We spent many pleasant moments together. After a hearty lunch, slowly, along the street with souvenir shops, we return to the parking lot to the bus. The group shows their discipline and punctuality, and at the appointed time we return back to Budapest. I liked the tour in Centedra, the town is so nice and cozy. Yes, the excursion itself here is more of a recreational character than an educational one. And if you haven't been there yet, I advise you to go. Especially in good sunny weather, this town looks great. Yes, and buy souvenirs better there.
