We rested in Golden Sun with my family in early August. Impressions are normal, good, but without puppy delight. This hotel and village (village) Kalamaki exclusively for a quiet family holiday!! ! Demanding, accustomed to pathos, large luxury hotels, evening dresses at dinner, extensive buffet tables, it is better not to go to Zakynthos!!!
There are no dances, feasts and parties in the hotel and in Kalamaki. In the evening, in a small hotel bar, the British and Germans and others drink very quietly in small quantities, the lights are put out at about 12 o'clock, everyone sleeps. There are practically no Russians in the hotel - one, two families, if you're lucky, the Russians drink quietly on the sunbeds by the pool.
Foreigners during the day stupidly sit by the pool, they rarely go to the sea.
There is no soul on the beach.
The beach is volcanic sand, not white. Greeks and Italians on the beach.

It is necessary to walk in the water for about 100 m so that the water reaches the chin, shallowly.
Children expanse, after dinner the water warms up about 29 degrees, not refreshing (((
At the entrance to the beach there is a Greenpeace booth, they politely try to slow everyone down, they ask if you are going to the beach for the first time, they hand you a brochure where it is written in English what is possible and what is not on the beach.
In Kalamaki in the evening, everything is calm - from 19 o'clock foreigners calmly drink in taverns, around 11 o'clock everyone calmly disperses, the taverns are empty. The situation with food in the hotel for Russians is different from the rest - all foreigners have gray bracelets on their hands (all inclusive, including a small pool bar), Russians (Muscovites) only have breakfast and dinner (without any drink). Tea, coffee, water at dinner for an additional fee - about 2 Euro per glass. The food at the hotel is a solid three with a plus, there are few dishes.
The hotel allows dinner to be moved to lunch. This is very convenient when in the morning we drove around the island by car and returned for dinner.
Taverns on the main street of Kalamaki are about the same in terms of quality of food and price. Everything is quite edible, sometimes even tasty, but without frills - a decent, strong public catering. Children took nuggets, ribs, pancakes, ice cream, etc. We ate almost every day in different taverns, about 50-55 euros (3 adults and 2 days). The portions are usually large, one for two can be served. Very rarely they bring small portions, for example, the Olive Tree tavern.
It is very difficult to see turtles on your own, almost impossible.

Excursions and where to go it is better to think, choose for yourself, especially if you have children. If you go by car to Navaya and the blue caves, the best and most inexpensive way is to get to Cape Skinari itself (a couple of km after the port of St. Nicholas there is a turn), there a good office rolls personally in both directions in detail and slowly shows everything, everywhere swim, and costs only 15 euros per adult, I recommend.
Zoo, sulfur springs beach, beautiful beaches of Vasilikos, etc. , take your pick.
We were on Banana Beach, the children liked it very much - a free water children's town - slides, trampolines, etc.
We were in Aquapakra right in Kalamaki, at the Carriage Hotel, 15 Euro per adult, for the whole day. We went in the morning, from 10.30, dined at our hotel, then returned again.
If you hang out, then in 10 minutes. by car Laganas or walk along the beach for about 25 minutes. There are McDonald's, Sushi, Burger King, Subway, etc. In the evening, the main street of Laganas is something!! ! Solid drunken companies of young English guys and emo girls with terribly made up. It is difficult to convey in words, Thailand is resting, - half-naked bodies are all around, pulsing with lust and debauchery. The guys sniff laughing gas from balloons and... have fun jumping on sightseeing buses, sometimes)))
In general, the children and we liked it, but on the ninth day we were already tired of the sea.
