Unplanned Thassos
Good afternoon everyone. There are many reviews about Thassos, if you search, but it has not yet been mastered by our tourists. We didn’t plan this island either, we wanted to go to Zakynthos, but so far it’s a hassle to go to this island from Ukraine, and somehow it happened with Thassos. I was determined with the hotel only on 2 proposals, although you can find among a larger number. You just have to pay attention to how close it is to the sea. Because Since the island is very green, the trees grow very close to the sea, and it is difficult to find a hotel on the very shore. Chose between Makriamus and Mare Monte. In the end, I chose the second one. I did not regret it, because We have been to Makriamos many times. For me, its main drawback is that it is located apart, i. e. There is no village within walking distance. You either have to walk or have a car. Because we never rent a car, we would sit in this hotel all the time.
And now about our hotel. Nowhere in the reviews I read that the hotel is located on the mountain. And 500m to the sea did not bother me. Only on the spot we realized that these 500m up and down a rather steep road. There is another road, more gentle, but it is longer, so we used it very rarely. If this does not bother someone, then the rest is in order. So, there are only 6 rooms in the hotel: 2 rooms (the cheapest) on the first floor near the pool. And 2 more rooms on each floor, in the rooms, depending on the room, one or two balconies. I know that each room is decorated in its own way and has a name, but I saw the design of only 2 rooms on the ground floor. In one of them we lived-Honey room. And it lives up to its name. The room is large, tastefully furnished, everything is thought out for a relaxing holiday. The bathroom is not huge, but there is enough space and also well done. There is a fridge and hair dryer. But I want to talk about the safe separately: firstly, it is small with sections for rings, secondly, it is locked with a key, and thirdly, it is not fixed, i. e. pick up and carry. Because you can’t put money, documents, or a tablet there, then of course we didn’t use it. Everything was in the room. Once, the lock in the door of our room broke, so we only warned the hostess, left everything as before, and left. Nothing was missing, and we somehow did not take a steam bath about it. Our room was near the pool and I found it even more comfortable than the rooms above. In general, most of the rest we were in the hotel ourselves, and this is class !! ! Everything is at our disposal.
The hotel only provides breakfast, but it's not a buffet. The day before, you choose from the list what you would like for breakfast and indicate the time, and in the morning the hostess herself prepares it and sets the table. Breakfast is monotonous, all in a small amount, but it was enough for us. True, we asked to prepare coffee ourselves. She just showed me where to get it. Do not expect large portions, everything is very modest, but in beautiful dishes.
In general, I would like to tell you about the hostess separately. Her name is Fay, she combines southern expression and English aristocracy, probably because she has been living in London for half a year. We have a very good relationship with her. She said that she had never had such guests (in a good way), and it seems to her that she has known us for many years, and then she gave gifts and wrote us a letter as parting. You can only communicate with her in English or Greek. It wasn’t difficult for me, but my husband just smiled, nodded and said OK. Another hotel employee is the assistant hostess Maria from Bulgaria. She doesn’t know English, she only remembers “good morning” in Russian. But there are no big problems here In general, one must be prepared that Russians are a rarity on the island.
As a result, we were very pleased with the hotel and the rest there, but the road to the sea still strained.
The place where we rested is the Golden Beach - a long stretch. As we understood, into three villages - Chrissi Ammudya, where we lived, Potamia Rock, Ponagia Rock. One day we decided to go to the tavern Captain, which we were advised. Walked 45 minutes. but we liked the tavern. But this is not the end of our beach. In general, of the three beaches (Golden, Paradise, Marble) - only this one with hotels, you need to go to the rest by car, go down the road.
Thassos is a must see. For the first time, I regretted that we did not have a license and we could not take a car (it so happened that there was no car at home either and, accordingly, rights). There are not so many historical places here, so you can go without a guide, it is quite enough to prepare at home. We were on three excursions from Muzikov: jeep safari, beaches and fishing. I have complaints about the conduct of each excursion, but this is my opinion, so I won’t talk much, but I can answer questions.
Summing up, I will say that I fell in love with Greece again!! ! And for now, this is my paradise on Earth, but we have not yet seen a lot of things in the world, but I always remember this country with love and want to go there again!!
