A wonderful start to summer in May
Greece… Greece was for us a country that we wanted to visit without fail, but someday later. But lately, it has become a tradition for us to travel to completely different countries to which it was planned. It happened last year and it happened this year. So, quite unexpectedly for ourselves, we rested in Greece on the island of Rhodes.
The start of the trip is May 8th. The child is delighted, you can skip a few school days, and not just skip it, but relax by the sea!
And here comes the long-awaited May 8th. Last fees, transfer to Zaporozhye, check-in and departure exactly on schedule at 14-30. At 17-00 we were already in Rhodes.
When we stepped onto the ladder, there was a shock - a strong wind that simply knocked us off our feet and cloudy weather. We came to the sea to rest! As the guide told us later, it was on this day that the weather deteriorated. The weather on the island was changeable all 10 days of our vacation, the first couple of days were cloudy and rainy, then the weather improved, but there were very often clouds. Because Since our hotel was on the Aegean coast, the wind was constant.
Although Rhodes is the largest of the Dodecanese islands, it is only 78 kilometers long and 38 kilometers wide. You can drive around the island in one day. Rhodes is washed by two seas: the Mediterranean and the Aegean. You can write about the rich nature of Rhodes for a long time and beautifully. But even numerous photographs of the island cannot convey the beauty of the azure sea and secluded bays, sandy and pebble beaches, pine forests, olive groves, fields of grapes and flower carpets.
After waiting a few more people stuck at customs, we loaded onto the bus, and under the joyful greetings of our guide, we drove towards the hotel. Fortunately, the trip took only 15 minutes. And now we are already in our Electra Palace Resort 5 * hotel admiring the beautiful view of the pool, the village of Ialyssos and the mountains.
First of all, we run to the sea. I didn’t have to run far - the hotel is located on the seashore and it’s only 10 steps away. The Aegean Sea is stunningly beautiful. It was very pleasant to lie on the beach and admire its extraordinary turquoise. In addition, the rocky shores of Turkey were clearly visible opposite. The view is just amazing!!!
The hotel is the usual 5 *. I have a separate review about the hotel. Of course, if you set a goal, then flaws can be found everywhere, but we came to relax and enjoy nature and tranquility. Therefore, we really liked the hotel, and we would gladly go to it again.
We spent the first days on the beach, walking along the streets of Ialyssos and exploring the local shops.
After a little rest and tired of idleness, we wanted new experiences, and we suddenly decided that we needed a car and, of course, a convertible. The hotel guide helped us with this question, and after 30 minutes a freshly washed Peugeot was waiting for us at the entrance to the hotel.
We devoted this day to the island, traveled almost all of it. We visited both sides of the island, compared the Aegean and Mediterranean Seas and were convinced of the beauty of the Aegean once again. We visited the villages of Siano and Embonas, which produce excellent honey and wine, admired the medieval fortress of Monolithos, had a great time in Lindos and climbed the highest mountain, Filerimos, with a 17-meter cross on top.
It was obligatory to visit one of the days of the capital of the island - the city of Rhodes! A very beautiful city, especially its old part and Rodini Park. Each of these sights deserves a separate story, I hope to share my impressions about them in the near future.
On one of the sunniest days, it was decided to take the child to the promised water park. The water park is located in the Faliraki area on the Mediterranean Sea on the mountain. The territory is large and interesting, as if it is divided into three zones - children's, middle and extreme. The whole day flew by unnoticed, the child was wildly delighted and, of course, did not really want to leave.
10 days of rest flew by unnoticed and here again the plane, the “wonderful” airport of Zaporozhye and home, sweet home.
You want to return to Greece again and again, and if you once imbued it, you will be drawn back there again and again.
