Traveling in Rhodes
We rested on about. Rhodes at the Mitsis Rhodes Maris Hotel. before that they were in Mitsis Blue Domains on about. Kos and Mitsis Lagoon in Crete. The current one is inferior to the two previous hotels and very much so. Maybe the crisis has taken its toll. but in the restaurant the fruit was cut into pieces. only cherries and apricots were not cut. The food is modest, no frills. The minibar was replenished every two days. There were three of us - two adults and a child of 15 years old, we were given 2 * 1.5 liters for 2 days. water + 2 * 0.2 l Pepsi + 2 * 0.2 l. soda. that's all. The most remarkable thing is the beach, i. e. the sea is clean and transparent, good entry into the sea, sand and small pebbles. But the sunbeds and umbrellas are old, shabby.
Traditionally, they took a car. We took a "marathon" company, which was at the hotel, then compared prices in other nearby companies, the difference of 5 euros is insignificant. We drove a Nissan Juke - 130 euros for 2 days. diesel. fuel price 1.2 euros per liter. The machine is cramped, but it pulls well in the mountains. Since they lived in the south of the island, the route was laid as follows. on the 1st day we went through the village of Archangelos, where we visited the temple of the Assumption of the Virgin. at 8.30 in the morning the caretaker had already opened the temple. we continued our way to the mountains to the monastery of Tari Michael the Archangel. After his visit, we crossed the island in the mountains and arrived at the village. Elounda, which is famous for its wineries. We visited wineries, tried everything, bought everything. really liked the white muscat. We continued our journey from there to the village. Siano, in the church of St. Panteleimon. They also bought olive oil and honey from the shop. The normal price of olive oil is 6-7 euros per liter, a large amount can also be taken at the airport, in duty free. The price of honey is approximately the same as in vil. Sian, in the church of St. Nectaria.
The first day's journey ended on the beaches of Prasonisi, the kiss of two seas.
The second day we traveled around the northern part of the island. We went to the temple of the Virgin Tsambika, from there through a visit to a ceramic factory in the Seven Streams Valley. We went through the tunnel. and not at all scary, as they wrote on the Internet. and the water is not knee-deep, but ankle-deep. water temperature +17, refreshing. Illuminated ahead with a cell phone and everything is fine. No claustrophobia. Then we went through the valley of butterflies (entrance 5 euros per person) to Rhodes. wandered around Rhodes, looked everywhere. Prices in the city are not at all terrible, even in places lower than near hotels. In taverns, too, everything is democratic. But it should be noted that compared to last year, prices have risen - a crisis. Took a tour of the Simi - 55 euros per person. You can go once. on the way back we stopped at the terms kalithea - 6 euros per person. The beaches of Faliraki are wonderful, albeit crowded. It is better to plan a trip for 3 days, so that one day in the morning can be devoted only to the city of Rhodes, so that it is not hot.
