We rested together with a 9-year-old son in August-September 2010. Pegas Touristik, departure from Chelyabinsk. There are no complaints about the tour operator, everything is fine. In general, the impressions from the rest are wonderful, I recommend it to everyone, especially to restless travel lovers, like us. For the location of the hotel is very convenient for travel. The hotel consists of several 2-storey buildings, on a separate street leading to the sea. Three private pools. The Russians are accommodated in the “Stethali” building, a wonderful woman Maria works at the reception, she is from Western Ukraine, respectively, she speaks Russian like we are with you, she will explain everything, help. The experience of the hotel is amazing. They took HB and did not regret it, because they were on excursions almost daily, and when they stayed at the hotel, they ate either in the room or in cafes, which are apparently invisible around. Breakfast was at the hotel restaurant, dinner at the restaurant opposite, Kellary. Breakfast is delicious, not very numerous dishes, but we are not bored.
Besides, there was always enough. My son also liked it, although he is a picky one. The food is European, not spicy, not sweet, in short, normal tasty food. Pleasantly pleased daily freshly squeezed orange juice. I also liked sour yogurt with honey, croissants with all sorts of jams and chocolate, omelettes, fried eggs. From vegetables - tomato-cucumbers, from cold appetizers - cheese, sausage, more muesli. Drinks - milk (undiluted), tea, coffee, cocoa, everything is good. Dinners at a nearby restaurant were ordered from the menu. Dinner from 18.30 to midnight, very convenient. Waiters - Super, funny, friendly, speaking a little Russian, ordering without problems, the menu is in Russian, and if you talk more, then in English. In general, they speak little Russian here, I explain myself a little, not much, but it was enough for me. What else is good - we lived in a studio, this is one room combined with a kitchen.
The kitchen has everything from spoons and forks to appliances (refrigerator, microwave, kettle). But we hardly used the kitchen, so if you heat something up. There are a lot of supermarkets around, that is, there is no problem to buy something to eat for lunch. Three-course dinner, cold appetizers / salads, hot appetizers (rich, good choice of meat), dessert (your choice of ice cream, fruit or yoghurt with honey). Since we regularly ate yogurt with honey for breakfast, we took ice cream or fruit for dinner. Drinks are paid. My son ordered juice (fresh 2.2 euros), I ordered wine (about 2 euros), I paid 5 along with a tip. Leftovers can be packaged. We went on excursions - Yellow train (I recommend it to everyone! ). Beautiful, relaxed, comfortable, not for long - for half a day. These are open yellow trains. You can buy at local travel agencies. We went to Mili and to the monastery of Arkadi. I recommend Arkady to those traveling with small children.

In general, it is better to take excursions from the locals, in Pegasus they are twice as expensive (except for Santorini, where prices are the same). But Pegasus does not offer Yellow train. It's cheap for them - 25 euros for two. Were in Santorini, a beautiful place, 125 euros per person, children under 12 years old 50% discount, i. e. 200 euros for two. A ferry ride, 4-4.5 hours one way, if the children can hardly endure the road, then think, mine is very tired. True, all the hardships of the journey are justified by the beauty of the island. Somewhere in fact next to it is the sunken Atlantis. On the island, houses are like swallows' nests - white and blue, located high above the sea, cute donkeys and black and black sand. We were on the island for 4 hours, I would like to stay longer. If you like sweet wine, be sure to take VinSanto there, the guide will tell you the production technology, it will take a long time to describe.
We also went to Heraklion to the Palace of Knossos on an excursion, not to say that the super and the labyrinth of the Minotaur are not there, in general, skillfully restored ruins, it seemed to me; After the palace, we were brought to Heraklion for an independent walk, and we almost got lost there. We were terribly scared, but now it's funny, there is something to remember; We went on our own to nearby Rethymnon, to Chania, where there are lovely Venetian streets in the old town near the waterfront. We were also on Elafonissi, also took an excursion, a mountain road, the ride takes about 4 hours. It was hard for the child, he felt sick, but this is our problem - he gets sick, and the buses themselves are good, with Conder. And the guide is funny, joking all the time. Elafonissi himself is great! Be sure to visit! The cleanest Aegean Sea, beautiful views and most importantly - pink sands! True, pink. Not as "radically" pink as the black sands of Santorini, but really pink ...You can get there by car on your own.
In general, there are a lot of car rental points, 60 euros per day plus bonuses. It was more profitable for us to take excursions because of the discounts for the child. If you are a company of adults, it would be better to take a car. But you understand, a car is a car, there is a lot of information that you yourself will look for, and you can simply not notice half of the interesting places. In general, I am for excursions.
What else? We took 1.100 euros with us for 12 nights and almost 14 days, of which 500 were spent on excursions, 300 for food and all sorts of entertainment, 300 for souvenirs. Normally met, it seems to me that's how it should be - at the rate of 500 euros per person, no less. Ask Maria where to buy good olive oil and honey. She will advise. We bought 1.5 homemade butter and 1 kg of mountain honey, and now we are terribly sorry that it is not enough; I also recommend buying tablecloths with national color in Rethymno near Fortezza in a shop. We took 2 for 22 euros, and everywhere they are 15 and even 18 each. Local wine must be tasted before taking home.

One day the temperature dropped to 28 and it was cool by the sea. Therefore, I do not know how hot it will be here, for example, in October. Although the season here is from May to October.
Summing up, I can safely say that the level of the hotel is clearly above three stars, the attitude of the staff is very friendly. A big shout out to Maria and Steve our waiter friends from Kellari! Relax and enjoy Crete. There is where to relax and there is something to see. It is truly the cradle of civilization.
