Rats run around the territory, devour carob fruits and table garbage. They get into the rooms.
The canteen is a canteen, not a buffet restaurant. The choice is disgusting, everything is the same, and the quality is worse every day. Of course, if you like noodles, rice and stale croissant crackers, and hair in food does not bother you, then you will not stay hungry. Come to the opening to push everyone with your elbows, otherwise there will not be enough plates, cutlery and food for everyone.
There is no soap and shampoo, but you can go to the reception every time for a roll of toilet paper. Cleaning every three days - except the day your room is cleaned. Then, of course, the cleaning lady will come by 8 in the morning to quickly wipe off all the fingers before the police arrive. Dirty towels are changed upon special request. You can wash your own floor with them!
The room stinks of sewage. Water does not drain into the drain, you take a shower in an ankle-deep puddle. The shower cubicle is right in the room, there are no hooks inside either, the privacy for a triple room is cranks. The toilet door does not close - well, why, all of them!
Walk to the beach for 7-10 minutes, on a steep descent. The hotel pool is beautiful, but the water is not running, the pumps are never turned on, and the water has not been drained once in 10 days. Such a group bath.
The bartender yelled at us when we tried to get water from the drinking water fountain. We are supposed to pay for all inclusive, but do we have to go buy water? Even if the tap water is not potable.
The next day, the same bartender yelled at the guest who was smoking on the terrace near the bar, spilled his coffee, took his things, behaved completely boorishly, under the pretext that smoking was not allowed here. At the same time, there are no “no smoking” signs, and the bartender himself smokes there.
We arrived at about one in the morning, we were met by representatives of the Millennium, everything was clearly and quickly loading onto the bus and leaving for the hotel. It was business hours and we were at the hotel, and there....it was closed - calls, knocks and a few minutes later the legendary Miro appeared sleepy but very friendly a man, escorted to the room and said in his Russian-Greek "you got super for it", of course we grinned and did not believe it. We got villa 1 (Family room accommodation), brought our bags and went to bed. It turned out to be very handy, we didn’t consider anything and weren’t indignant.
The room turned out to be “somehow” a shabby mirror, the tiles were smeared with silicone in places, the cabinet doors had traces of soiling, there was no soap when checking in, I’m generally silent about shampoo, conditional cleaning, although bedding and towels were changed twice a week. But we did not pay attention to this at all.
But in the morning we began to notice all the charms around and there are really charms. This is probably the greenest and most colorful hotel in Bali, when there is more marble around than tiles and bushes, palm trees, trees, figurines around it is good and pleasant. We had a chic view from any side, you can see the sea, and the mountains are on the palm of your hand.
Food - everything is as they say, you won’t stay hungry, but without frills. The breakfast is light, and you can burst for dinner, but most importantly, everything is very well cooked. Once we observed how the hostess of the hotel (a Greek woman who does not understand a word of Russian) with her guests sat in the common room and ate everything that was served to vacationers. We had breakfast + dinner, I strongly recommend it to everyone, you are not tied to the time during the day and you will definitely try the local cuisine. The farther from the beach, the tastier and the larger portions.
The sea is super, the beach is clean, sunbeds are paid. For two sunbeds and an umbrella 6 euros per day, for an additional sunbed + 2 euros. You can step aside and spread the bedding, no one will say a word and sunbathe on the ball. There is no stress anywhere, neither in the sea, nor in cafes, nor on the streets, no one needs you and no one bothers you.
VERY many in the Bali Mare hotel with children, in general, the village of Bali leaves the impression of a place to relax with children, it’s quiet + very smooth entry into the sea and sand, although there are stones along the edges of the beach - take a mask and go ahead fish, sea urchins, some kind of carals and not a single jellyfish.
To get to know Bali, take a ride on a small train. A large circle from the entrance to Bali to the pier and back 4 euros per person and you will see all 4 bays and what is not visible from the central beach. For a general idea, it is interesting.
The hotel took a Hyundai Getz car for 3 days - 100 euros full insurance + no mileage limit. Elsewhere, one could take a fresh car for about the same money, but they took it at the hotel out of respect for Miro, it is clear that the person is trying and trying to help in everything, and he made a decent discount (in the price list 148 euros) scratches on The bumper is not fundamental to us, but it’s better to let Miro work. We went to Rethymnon (31km), Heraklion (54km), to a fresh mountain lake, to the ruins of the Knossos Palace, just rummaged through the neighborhood. Riding is not annoying, the navigator was not taken
we found everything ourselves, there are no problems with the language if there are not enough words, gestures are used and everything becomes clear.
The Bali Mare hotel should appeal to those who do not pay attention to the number of stars and their correspondence, do not look for nit-picking, but enjoy the surroundings of mountains, the sea and the atmosphere that surrounds
The hotel itself is located on a small hill, walking up the stairs is sometimes tiring. Many different sculptures stuck indiscriminately, where necessary and not necessary, but the smell of flowering roses and pelargoniums overshadowed all the shortcomings.
The food made me happy. Breakfast - usual, as in all of Europe, no frills. You can drink coffee, teas to choose from. Eggs - only boiled (there was mistletoe twice), cheese, sausage. Cereal, milk, honey. But lunches and dinners made me happy. Meat - veal and lamb - just perfectly cooked both fried and stewed. There was also fish, but I didn't like it. Salads, herbs, sauces - perfectly cooked. The buffet is not very rich, but children and people on a diet and large men had something to offer. There was also dessert. Alcohol is served from 10.00 to 22.00. Wine, beer, brandy and ouzo - you can drink (and get drunk).
Beach. Go down a small slope - 200 meters. Shop on the way (cheapest in the village). They took: wine - 2.45 - 2.65 euros a liter, strawberries - 2.50 kg (in Kyiv at that time it cost 5.00 euros per kg), disposable glasses - 1.00 euros 50 pieces. Apples, pears, watermelons or stronger alcohol are also possible, the prices are moderate. Sun loungers on the beach - 5 euros. We took towels with us and sunbathed on the sand, deciding to spend the saved money on wine. The water is clear, the beach is clean. Lots of cafes for all tastes.
Cars for rent. The price depends on the power of the motor and the number of days for which you take the car. You can not bother and take a car at the hotel - the same money (verified). Example: Citroen, engine - 1.0, five days - 120 euros; engine 1.4, one day - 45 euros.
On the last day, we decided to celebrate our departure at the Gargona cafe, read the reviews and went. But we did not read carefully, but in vain. Warning - take one dish for two, because their portions are not even for miners, but for a blacksmith and a miner. If the soup is 2.00 liters, the same plate with salad and snails, the main dish was brought in oval plates (I put it in the same duck for Christmas). A serving of lamb consists of 8 pieces the size of a palm, french fries - at least 500 gr, vegetables, lemon. The appetizer was also brought in dinner plates and the size was huge. When you look at the menu, be aware that the scale is not sustained. After dinner (drunk and happy) they found in the room a stone of water, soaked bags with collected things and a leaking toilet bowl. Departure was at five in the morning. The hotel administration - Miro, aka Miron, shrugged and said - it happens. I had to clean everything ourselves, but this unfortunate fact did not overshadow the pleasure of the rest. Conclusion - I want to return to Crete.
The cleaners are impudent and also lazy (go into the room even if someone is in the shower and in the room).
In 10 days we cleaned only 2 times, shampoo and soap are not put in the room, towels are changed once in 10 days, we have already dumped garbage in another dump. You can ask for shampoo at the reception. There is WI-FI at the reception. To the beach 10 minutes walk. You can bring your own umbrellas and towels and not pay 6 euros for two for sunbeds. We went on the tour by bus (stop near the hotel). In Rethymno, Chania, Heraklion, Knossos you can get there without any questions. Bus tickets cost from 3.5 to 9.6 euros one way, depending on mileage.
We went to a three-ruble note and did not expect 5 stars. Therefore, they were very satisfied. The village itself is very calm and quiet, there is no evening entertainment, but we did not need this.
The staff is wonderful. Administrator Miro (Bulgarian speaking Russian) is a GREAT person!! ! Always ready to solve any problem. The waiters Sasha (from Latvia, Russian speaker) and Mario (Miro's son, also Russian speaker) are great guys. We also got acquainted with the owners (only English and Greek) and their grandchildren. Everyone is wonderful and accommodating. We chatted a lot with them, even exchanged Internet addresses to exchange joint photos. Everything is very democratic and homely.
Another bonus was that the hotel had free Wi-Fi (though only at the reception). It was convenient. They called via Skype to Russia and to home and cell phones (very cheap).
The hotel is conveniently located in my opinion. It is not high, it is very easy to pass from the sea, there are no steep climbs (as in the middle of the village). In a 4-minute walk there are 3 supermarkets, a doctor, rental cars, and in the opposite direction - a bus stop on the national road (tickets are also sold there)
The hotel itself is nice, beautiful architecture, lots of trees. The pool is painted, but it does not overshadow. The nearest beaches are comfortable, sandy, a little to the right are more interesting rocky ones - you can swim with a mask. drive octopuses, crabs, etc. There are many nice taverns on the beach with comfortable sofas, Russian-speaking staff, free Wi-Fi and excellent cuisine (by the way, we didn’t like Gargona praised on the forum, it was much tastier on the beach)
Hotel.
Yes, there are several rooms (under the tennis court), roughly speaking not very much. Especially the very first one. At first, my husband and I were put there, and our friends got a good room (with a balcony, sea view, odorless toilet, etc. ) in the building opposite. We arrived late, so we didn't argue for a long time. The next day they began to ask to be relocated. They promised in a few days, but when they saw my tears, they took pity so much that they moved us to apartments (the studio was paid) WITHOUT additional payment! After the closet under the tennis court, I was completely delighted! nice bright two-room suite with a balcony and a good view. our friends lived behind the wall in a studio, also very wonderful. The difference was only in the absence of a second room, and also a nice bright room. The furniture is not new, but quite suitable, very good hard mattresses (those who have back problems are just a joy, since in hotels the mattresses are usually soft and sagging, but here they are super). We had linen, cleaning and towels on time. The only thing was that there was no hot water early in the morning (apparently because of the solar panels), but we swam in the evening or at night. You can hear the road, but not hard.
Food.
We liked it. I have a poor appetite, but here I ate to satiety and with pleasure.
For breakfast there was butter, margarine, ham (normal, not like in Turkey), cheese, oranges, boiled eggs (good, like homemade, with a yellow yolk, not blue like in Russia), yogurt (if you add jam to it - very tasty), fresh tomatoes and cucumbers, some pastries (sometimes cakes, sometimes pies with cheese), well, a bunch of some kind of cereal for breakfast cereal lovers, 2 types of jam, honey, chocolate paste. From drinking: 2 types of yupi, instant coffee (you make it yourself, so everyone can make it to your taste), tea (sometimes bad, sometimes lipton), and milk (apparently powdered - it doesn’t look very good, but I only needed it in coffee, so there are no complaints) For lovers of cereals and other dry rations, of course, no luck with milk, I think it's better to buy in a nearby supermarket or put them in yogurt. Yogurt is more interesting than ours... it is thicker and more tender.
For dinner there was some hot meat (there was always meat, usually 2 types, sometimes there was also fish - quite tasty). The side dishes were interesting, and once even buckwheat : ))) There were 2 times mashed potatoes: the first one was delicious, and the second time it was powdery. Different salads (cabbage, beans, rice, etc. ), obligatory dza-dzyki (to my joy, I really liked it), cucumbers, tomatoes, cheese and olives - always. For dessert every day watermelons, sometimes + melons, once there was ice cream. Drinks at dinner are paid, but if you have a watermelon, you can not drink.
I saw how our compatriots unceremoniously collected mountains of food on plates and dragged them to their room. like hamsters in a hole! The staff did not react, they only looked at them in surprise : ))) Well, cattle, there are cattle, let them chew. Only now, if you return to the hotel by the end of dinner, then you won’t always get fruit because of our shortage hamsters : )))
The food, of course, is not like in a tavern, but quite tasty.
The hotel has a rental car. For living large discounts (bargain). We ran around other rental cars and took them at the hotel. Prices from 30 euros, no extra charge for a second driver. Very comfortably. Only if you take a Jimik Kubrick, do not leave things in it when parking in cities. They are easy to uncover, our neighbors in Chania had all their belongings taken out. We didn't have any difficulties. We traveled a lot, we saw a lot. Excursions are expensive, you will see more by car and it will be cheaper (even despite gasoline at 1.7 euros). You can go to Rethymno by bus.
Rest were very satisfied.
Special thanks to Miro!!!
P. S. Somehow they were lying by the pool and an elderly couple came to the hotel to visit Miro. They sat next to each other at a table and we heard their conversation. This couple, it turns out, was vacationing in this hotel that year, but this year they did not have time to take a tour in the Marais. They said that they live somewhere in the neighborhood (it seems like some kind of Rose or something like that), they spat on their hotel and said that they would very much like to move to Miro. I don’t know where they settled there, but they praised our hotel very much and regretted that they could not get into it and even asked us in which month we booked the hotel. Well, that's right, by the way, that to each his own... well, whoever is lucky with the number. From our plane there were 4 couples in this hotel and everyone loved it. just don't expect anything supernatural for a small fee. The hotel is worth the money (in my opinion)
