This year, my daughter and I decided to try to go on vacation to Halkidiki for the first time. Before that, they were always only in Pieria, so I am writing a review about the last hotel in which we rested in August 2016.
To begin with, we always choose vacation hotels with a convenient location. To be able to get out somewhere, do not go to the nearest city 50 km. Grand Platon in this regard is very conveniently located. Only 1.5 km to the villages of Olympic and Paralia Kamterini. We visited Paralia Katerinis almost every day, so more about it. The hotel booked a taxi for 5 euros one way, and usually walked back along the sea along the road. It took about 25 minutes. In the village itself, on the main street, there is a pharmacy, an ATM, an exchange office, a Lidl supermarket and a sea of taverns that go a couple more streets in their length. In general, everything that the soul desires.
We took a room with a view of Olympus. It's very beautiful, believe me. I can say that the room is quiet, no one bothered to sleep and there were no extraneous sounds at all. There is no hair dryer in the room, so think about it in advance. Or you can take it to the reception. But, you understand, this is not the most convenient option. Internet is everywhere and free of charge, but it is best caught at the reception. Apparently, there are routers installed somewhere. There is practically nothing for children in the hotel, so you will have to invent entertainment for them yourself. Fortunately, my child is already an adult, so our interests do not differ much. For the little ones, there is only a playground and a swimming pool. But for adults in Paralia Katerini there are a lot of nightclubs, bars and restaurants. I advise you to go to traditional Greek bars. There are bouzouki. This is something like a local disco with national music, dances and performances by artists. Very impressive.
Another point about the hotel. If you want the most modern renovation, then immediately order a superior room. They have been restored. The rest of the rooms are also good, but not as new as the ones mentioned above.

As a travel agent who knows the standards of the hotel business and as a traveler who has visited more than a dozen hotels from 2 to 5 stars in different countries, I will try to write about all the nuances (personal opinions will be in brackets).
1. Location. Among the fields and reeds between the towns of Paralia 1 km and Olympic Beach "Olimbiaki-Akti" 1 km. Taxi to villages 5 euros, bus 2 euros. From the hotel 400-450 m to the beach. Walk for 7-10 minutes on an evenly paved roadway (through a wasteland with scorched grass, without the shade of trees, with uncollected garbage and excrement from sheep with the corresponding permanent aroma of animal husbandry). There is no shuttle to the beach. WiFi is free throughout the territory. There is no ATM.
2. The beach is across an active road, without pedestrian crossings and traffic lights, public sandy. Separate from the crowded areas of the beaches of neighboring towns. On the beach there are umbrellas and sunbeds without mattresses. For those who are not on the "all inclusive" system, a fee of 2 euros / sunbed. Sunbeds can be occupied not only by hotel guests. On weekends, the beach is filled with locals or tourists from neighboring countries in cars (they smoke next to vacationers, it’s impossible to breathe fresh air). Cigarette butts are mixed in the sand, nailed algae are drying on the shore. There are no stones either on the shore or when entering the water. There are no hedgehogs or other dangerous animals. Entry into the water is gradual, the depth increases gradually. The sea is transparent gray when calm, when rough, the color becomes cloudy swamp green. By noon, the transparency disappears and an oily film of unclean water appears (like the Sea of Azos). There are changing rooms on the beach, there is a shower, there is no toilet (children relieve themselves right at the sunbeds in the sand and in a big way too, mothers wash their children next to the bathers). From animation only volleyball. There is no water entertainment even for an additional fee. Beach bar across the active road towards the hotel. Next to the bar is a tavern with meals for an additional fee. On the beach you can buy donuts - 1 euro / piece. Beach towels on deposit - 10 euros.
3. Territory. The most compact, one three-story and several two-story buildings. Landscaping without design, but well maintained. (It feels like an "inn" for travelers to spend the night. Without comfort, without privacy zones, an area that is not conducive to relaxation. ) The children's "playground" consists of one swing and one ladder.
4. Number. 20-25 sq. m. Windows towards the sea with a partial view of the sea, half of the view is covered by trees. The furniture looks modern, without comfort items: armchairs, paintings, lamps, chandeliers - all this is not there. Plasma the size of a laptop at a distance of 4-5 meters from the bed. There are no Russian-language channels, there are no music or channels by nature either. There is no kettle or cups. There is no minibar (not even water). Safe and iron at reception free of charge. Refrigerator is noisy. It works only while you are in the room (when you leave the refrigerator turns off, and everything you store there will be at room temperature). Balcony without privacy - you can see everyone in the rooms on any floors and you can also be seen by everyone (smoke from smoking neighboring balconies will not let you breathe). There is an anti-mosquito net. The mattress is very hard, the pillows are of the minimum size (extremely uncomfortable bed, very sore neck and back). The bedspread was a careless blanket with circles of childish surprise. Bed linen with traces of washed stains and mold. No soundproofing, loud door knocks from other rooms both day and night. The plumbing is working, the shower is a tray with a curtain (the curtain is purely symbolic, the water from it flows directly onto the floor, which is why there is a flood in the bathroom after a shower). In the center of the bathroom there is a hole in the floor with a sewer (from which the expected smell of sewage oozes). A toilet without signs of cleanliness, a brush with dried perennial excrement. The hood works with the noise of a vacuum cleaner. The lighting is such that it will not even let you put on makeup. Towels are not changed daily, the cleaning is superficial, the bed is not changed. Dushgel and shampoo in one bottle + soap replenish when cleaning.
5. Nutrition. Dining room (not a restaurant), disposable tablecloths, self-service. Plates and cups come across chipped, sometimes poorly washed. The waiters only clean (during the meal they can drive up with a trash cart and put it near the table, throwing out the leftover food next to you). All inclusive from 10 am to 10 pm. Unlimited drinks in the dining room until 10 am: water, yuppies, 3 in 1 coffee drink, tea, beer, wine, chacha. After 22 - even water for an additional fee. From 15 to 18 - 2 types of ice cream (tasteless).
Main products and dishes:
breakfast: eggs, croissants, soy sausages, sour cream, beans, plastic tomatoes, cheese product, ham.
lunch: rice, pasta, beans, potatoes, feta, olives, shredded cabbage, plastic tomatoes, lettuce, peaches and melon, biscuit.
dinner: everything that was not eaten from lunch + a meat dish and a fish dish.
Rarely served: broccoli, tsv. cabbage, peppers and cucumbers.
The hotel does not have: natural coffee, the ability to get water (only 1 euro / liter), fresh juices, breakfast for early check-out before 7:30 in the morning, no choice of fruits.
6. Contingent. 70% Eastern Europeans (Greeks, Poles, Hungarians, Bulgarians) and 30% of the CIS, all tourists with children, whose education and upbringing allows them to come in swimming shorts for dinner, shout from the balcony to the whole territory, “Where is dad? ” (as they are used to in the countryside through vegetable gardens), smoking in public places, spitting and spitting on the beach, burying children's feces in the sand, etc.
General impression. The hotel is a kindergarten, not thought out in design, plants and buildings in a chaotic manner. Loud music keeps you awake until midnight. Ideal for autotourists, as well as for overnight stays for bus tours. The hotel hosts weddings and celebrations on weekends by local residents - the entrance is closed for tourists. Not intended for relaxation in the rooms (hard bed and thin pillows), contemplation of the sea view (the view is blocked by trees), relaxation near the pool (loud music and no privacy), enjoying the sea and the beach (Sea of Azov). The distance to the beach is unpleasant to overcome due to passing cars and open areas under the scorching sun. They didn’t experience the beauty of the view of Olympus - an ordinary, inconspicuous mountain. The nature of the area resembles the Crimean steppe. It can be considered for recreation only if it is the most economical accommodation in the region.

We have been in Greece for 6 years now. There has never been anything that we did not like, although we choose different places and different hotels each time. The last time we rested in Pieria was at the Grand Platon Hotel. I have read many reviews on it. I can say that they are very contradictory. Many find fault with trifles, in my opinion. If we are going to rest, then paying attention to the fact that we were not shown to our rooms is simply stupid. Cons can be found even in the most expensive hotel with impeccable conditions and service. But something I digress. So, we arrived at the hotel around one o'clock in the afternoon. Many thanks to the reception for checking in immediately (apparently, the room was already ready). I know they don't usually check in before 2pm. Such rules, so we try to select flights in such a way that we always arrive after lunch, and not hang around on the street for half a day or pay extra money for this time. I will say that I really liked it at first: a nice beautiful green area. Our windows overlooked the courtyard. It's just fun to watch. For 10 days of rest, I never saw a yellow bush or "bald spot" in the grass. The territory is looked after for 5+. The restaurant is excellent. Starting from the arrangement of tables and snow-white tablecloths and ending with food. Of course, if you rest for a long time, then everything becomes boring and it seems that the dishes are not very diverse, but, in general, I thought so, at home we eat much more monotonous food. There is simply no time to cook something delicious. Therefore, as they say, it is a sin to complain. You have to walk a little to the beach. But the road is good and it does not create problems. But it is very wide and sandy, which is important. Umbrellas are free. You can rest easy for the whole day. There is a bar on the beach. The cocktails there are very tasty. It's true. I saw that many people play volleyball. Fortunately, the size of the beach allows it, and if you are lying near the sea itself, the likelihood that a ball will hit you is practically impossible. Our room was in a bungalow. Spacious, bright, overlooking the garden, as I said. The room has a table, bedside tables, wardrobe, TV, etc. in general, everything is standard. There are no frills, but everything you need is there. There are even 2 Russian channels on TV. I think that for a 4 * is quite a good hotel. We are satisfied, this year we are going to go to Greece again, but now to Crete. I hope it will be as cool as the previous ones.

In mid-September, I rested in the Pieria region, which is at the foot of Mount Olympus. A wonderful, quiet place, the most suitable for family and recreational holidays. The nature is amazing, the air is clean, and a light breeze makes it more pleasant to be in the sun. The sea is clean, although in the first days of my stay it was a little cloudy due to rain and wind, but then it cleared up and I just didn’t want to leave the beach.

I settled in the Grand Platon 4 * hotel, all inclusive. I occupied a double room in the main building, and there were also rooms in bungalows. I liked the room, spacious, with a comfortable bed, there was a dressing table, a mirror, an ottoman. The furniture, of course, is not very new, but quite normal. All in soft colors, pleasing to the eye. The bathroom is spacious enough, with a large window, which I personally really liked. And the view from the balcony was mesmerizing. It was possible to admire both Olympus and the Aegean Sea. The room was cleaned every day and it was done very conscientiously. By the way, if there is a wish to leave a tip to the maids, then do not leave it on the bedside table, they will not take it. Leave on the bed, so they understand that it is in gratitude to them. I liked the food: there was a variety, and it was cooked quite well - I didn’t get bored during the rest. Although, I heard that some complained. But I have no complaints. The confectioner at the hotel each time pampered us with sweets, so that I already recovered by 3 kg. I advise you to try the local draft beer. It has a milder taste, it is not bitter and is great to drink on a hot afternoon by the pool. And in the evening you can also drink wine there. The road to the sea at the beginning seemed to me far (about 300 meters), but then it turned out that it was very good that you could walk a little, especially after a hearty lunch. Near the hotel there is a sandy beach (sunbeds have to be paid); there were always enough sunbeds, but I would like better cleaning. The beach also has a bar, so if you want you can order fresh coffee or juice. There is also a restaurant Thalassa, which means the sea. I advise you to visit, you will not regret it. Fresh seafood, tasty cooked, large portions and not expensive. And all this with a sea view. The hotel was located between two villages: Paralia Katerin and Olympic Beach. Souvenirs could be bought there, there were a lot of shops, in the evenings all the streets, all cafes and taverns were filled. You can get to the villages both by buses that run every twenty minutes, and on foot - it takes about thirty minutes, along the embankment. I liked everything very much, rested, gained strength. I took with me a wonderful tan and a lot of pleasant impressions!
P. S. I want to thank all the staff of the Grand Platon Hotel, special thanks to Stefania, the girl at the reception, who was always happy to help in any matter!

In early September 2014, we rested in sunny Hellas with my husband and 14-year-old daughter. We chose for a long time where to go, and on the advice of a travel agent, from whom we have been traveling for more than a year, we booked the Grand Platon. We chose it because we wanted not only a beach holiday, but also to see the sights. Each member of our family is enough for a couple of days of lying on the beach, and then we want to have an active holiday.
It takes about an hour and twenty minutes to get to the hotel from the airport. The nearest villages are located one and a half kilometers from the hotel each. We always walked, usually the road took about 20 minutes along the beach. Paralia Katerinis is more interesting than Olympic Beach, the infrastructure is more developed there, although there are good taverns both there and there. By the way, near the hotel itself, near the beach, there is a good fish tavern "Talassa".
We booked a room of the superior category, the agency said that they were renovated, and they are. There is a free safe at the reception. Hairdryer and iron can also be borrowed there. The minus for us was that there were no tea and coffee sets, but we did not hope. We took a small "camping" teapot with us, and bought cups there, they will just have souvenirs; ) Wi-fi is available throughout the hotel, but it was best to catch it in the lobby and on the first floor.
The hotel has a swimming pool, it is clean, but we preferred the sea. I must say right away that beach towels must be taken with you or you can buy in the villages, at least 6 euros have been seen. Sandy beach across the road. Sea urchins were not seen. The beach is equipped, there are showers, toilets, changing rooms, and bins... But the use is paid, 3 euros per day. Although when we took a car, we drove and stopped on many more or less secluded and picturesque beaches, and we liked it more)) We went on excursions to Meteora, Olympus, the archaeological park of Dion, Vergina - a museum on a hill where Philip II was buried, we went to Athens, it was impossible not to visit, since we had already reached the mainland))) My daughter was all surprised how the guides could remember so much, how many years you need to study!
Greece is very interesting, the vacation was memorable and now we are planning to visit another island (we were in Crete), we choose between Corfu and Rhodes. By the number of attractions, the islands certainly lose to the mainland, but the beauty of nature, we are sure, will not leave us indifferent!

Rested last year with the whole family in Pieria - the Grand Platon hotel. Now I climbed the sites, it turns out that he is already a Bomo club. Friends said that this chain is very good. I don’t know, maybe we just didn’t notice this little note before. In general, it does not change the essence. We liked the hotel.

I don’t know, maybe we just didn’t notice this little note before. In general, it does not change the essence. We liked the hotel. The room had a mountain view. I didn’t even know that Olympus is not one mountain, but a huge ridge with several peaks. So, every day, when we woke up, we looked at the legendary Olympus, and, maybe, someone looked at us from there))). I want to note the cleanliness of the room. I am very meticulous in this matter. I don’t like it when the room, albeit temporary, where I live, is dirty or something is lying around. The rooms were cleaned well and every day. So, a big plus for the maids. Nutrition is also important. The food was very, very tasty. The breakfasts were especially enjoyable. Pastries and cakes - a fairy tale is simple. Unrealistically delicious. Yes, even sometimes the chef goes out to the restaurant. Always asks if everyone likes it, how is the food, etc. The beach is nice. It is also clean, plus there are changing rooms and toilets. Free sunbeds and umbrellas. I think that for those who are going to go to Pieria, this review will come in handy. We are going to Greece this year again, but already in Halkidiki. Let's choose a hotel. I've already read the reviews, so I decided to leave mine, suddenly, it will come in handy for someone.

The drop turned out to be a hit! Oh, how I want to go back... As soon as I got on the plane, I immediately began to miss our favorite hotel. Both me and my son Tolik liked the hotel very much. Arriving here, we expected much less, to be honest, than we received. Before that, we went to Greece in Pieria in C grades, and somehow we got used to small hotels, the lack of service.

We are not very fastidious, for us the main thing is the sea and the sun. My Tolik is still a lover of sunbathing.
Walk to the beach about 300 meters, not too far, but not too close. They take you to the sea on a shuttle - on request. So we went to the beach 2 times a day - after breakfast and after dinner. There are a lot of loungers. We have never seen anyone missing. It was very good that all inclusive they also work on the beach. No need to buy any water or juice separately - ordered and immediately brought. The entry into the sea is calm, not sharp. The children bathe themselves.
A lot of Russian-speaking staff - the girl at the reception - Natalia, Karolina at the pool bar, the hotel guide Nastya, and even one waiter. I felt comfortable, as if I had never left home.
The food was really delicious - especially when oatmeal porridge appeared for breakfast! Meat for lunch and dinner is always 2 types. I really liked the pork chop. The meat is juicy and not greasy.
We lived in room 225, in the main building on the 1st floor. Every day, waking up in the morning, admired Olympus. The birds were listening. Separate question massage in the hotel. I have had pain in my legs for a very long time, since my student days as a waitress. So, the improvement was already from 1 session. It is clear that one session is not enough, I went 3 more times later. It got much better. Of course, it will still be necessary to walk at home, but to be honest, I didn’t think that something would help me, I somehow reconciled, but here it turned out. In Plato, by the way, a Russian girl, Yulia, also works in the massage parlor.
Tolik and I also went on an excursion to Oridea and Edessa. We bathed in the source (by the way, it is very refreshing) and made a wish in the oak. We drove only two and a half hours there and the same time back.
In a word, the holiday was a success. I really liked everything, somehow I even got attached to this place with my soul. I will miss you, we will definitely be back.

Overall ok but expected more. There are almost no people at the end of the season. There is also no buffet, what they give is difficult to call this word. Breakfast - eggs, sausages, cheese, sausage, rolls, butter, jam, cereal and milk, everything. To the sea 300 meters (who wrote about 25 let him not lie).

To the sea 300 meters (who wrote about 25 let him not lie). It's annoying to go to Paralia, especially after excursions, tired, and there is nothing to do in the hotel - 1-2 km to go to shops and bars. The sea is good and clean, sand. Bars near the pool and on the beach do not work, the train runs rarely. I recommend it to those who want peace and solitude.

We rested in Pieria at the Platon Hotel. Great family vacation. Impressions are the best, literally 25 meters from the sea, clean beach, azure warm sea. We are very grateful to all the staff of the hotel for their responsiveness and friendly attitude. I was surprised by the cleanliness of the rooms, excellent food - just like home, tasty and varied, everything is fresh.

I liked the region itself, and the sea is excellent and the mountains are nearby. We went on an excursion to Olympus, the trip is interesting and, most importantly, not tiring.
In general, the rest was a success, we will recommend to friends and acquaintances.

Guys, I will not come to the Grand Platon! If you tell everything - there is not enough space ((I am writing from the phone, I am sitting at the reception. Firstly, the hotel does not pull even for a deuce (for those who are seduced by the pool - it is paid, in the bar you need to make an order for 6 euros to swim, with the sea too, unless you can use the municipal beach (about 1 km to it).

The nearest town is 2 km, the bus goes only there, getting back is a problem, ordering lunch boxes a day in advance!!! The hotel, in my opinion, is 25 years old ! I never write reviews, but here is a nightmare! The last straw - I sit with wet hair at the reception (they have a rule of 12 to evict everyone ((( and the bus (transfer) to the airport at 18 o'clock, so 6 hours of vacation down the drain (we were in almost all European countries (well aware of 12:00), we did not see such horror (
