I rested with my wife at the Sunshine Vacation Clubs 4 * hotel from June 18 to June 29.2011. We booked a hotel in advance from the Pantheon tour operator. The host was the Fenix Group. When landing in the airport of Kerkyra, the landing gear of the aircraft seemed to touch the surface of the water. The runway is small (only three kilometers), and the airport itself is small, so small planes arrive.
They were taken to the hotels. Our hotel is located in the northeast of the island. And immediately settled in numbers. The reception spoke English, French, Greek. But there was also a Russian-speaking girl. There was a surprise waiting for us in the room. There was a full bowl of fruit on the coffee table, which was very touching and attentive from the hotel management. The room was cleaned every day. In the morning, when we rested at sea or went on excursions. Our number was 614. This means that the room is not on the sixth floor (out of 7 in total), but on the second. Floor numbering starts at the top, except for the reception. This is the ground floor. The room has central air conditioning, a refrigerator with a bar, a TV, among the programs there was only one Russian-language channel "Russia 1". From the room you could see a beautiful view of the sea, pools, hotel grounds. All rooms of the main 7-storey building of the hotel overlook the sea.
The location is excellent. Its majestic view is far visible from the Ionian Sea. The hotel is located in the Nissaki area, in the village of Garrnelatika. The hotel consists of a main building (as I wrote earlier) and a bungalow. Nature is simply amazing. Flowers grow everywhere, cacti, all kinds of climbing plants such as vines that adorn the facades of buildings. Especially, in the morning cockades chirp. The hotel has two outdoor swimming pools. Their water is highly chlorinated. Foreigners and elderly people sunbathe near the pools. There are two ways to go down to the sea. First; on stairs paved with natural stone, the second - on two elevators. One upper, the second lower, which often broke.

In addition to the main building, there are several more 2-storey bungalows. We got acquainted with one couple, which is just there and housed. Firstly, the smell from the sewerage in the room, secondly, it is full of flies and midges (it is simply impossible to sleep), thirdly, snakes used to crawl, either poisonous or not. It is incomprehensible, and most importantly unpleasant. We lived on the first floor of a bungalow. Don't leave the window wide open. We were afraid. Keep this in mind when choosing a room.
Beach. Small. Bulk. For a hotel, such a star is clearly not enough. But there is enough space for everyone. Personally, I took seats early in the morning. And so every day. No people except beach attendants. It's great to swim in the morning. The water is clear but not warm. The beach is pebbly. I advise you to swim in rubber slippers. there are sea urchins not far from the beach (near the pier). There were days when the sea was rough. You can’t swim, it can be carried far from the shore. All kinds of water attractions at sea. Banana type, boating, scooters (for a fee).
Animation. In the evening after dinner. There is practically nothing to do. There are two options for where to go. First. The performance was acted out by young guys and girls animators in French. Not far from the proscenium there is a bar where you can drink a glass of red or white wine, beer, ouzo (local vodka), cocktails. Why is it in French? Because this hotel was chosen by the French. And so they fit in. Although with us were not only the French. And also the British (very noisy, especially when they get drunk, worse than our Russians), the Germans (very calm, it’s nice to relax with them), the Italians (they are very noisy on the beach, as if it was in one place), the Russians, and also themselves Greeks are coming for the weekend. And the themed Greek evening was only once in 11 days. "Lit" two artists. They sang songs, played waltzes. Second option. Walk through the village. There are many taverns and cafes in the village where you can taste national Greek cuisine and local spirits. The village is small, 500 meters long. There is a payphone in the village, which is located opposite the post office and next to the church. Phone cards can be purchased at the hotel reception or in any shop in the village (it will be cheaper). You can buy almost everything in minimarkets. On the very first day of arrival, we got to the national holiday, which was held in the center of the village itself. They came from other nearby villages. Music played, Greek songs were sung, sirtaki danced. It was a lot of fun.
Excursions. We took two excursions. One - in the capital of Corfu - the city of Kerkyra. Everything showed up so fast. Like a gallop through Europe. After visiting the capital, they boarded a boat and sailed along the eastern and southeastern coasts. During the walk there was dinner with local wine, ouzo and light refreshments. We had two musicians with us who performed songs with a guitar. Our guide was Natalia. It was interesting to say everything. And the second tour of the island. We went to the Achilleion Museum, which is in the east of the island. Then we headed west to a beautiful area called Paleokastritsa. Ride, for a fee, on a boat in the grottoes. The beauty is indescribable. The cleanest sea is the Adriatic. We went along the serpentine to the observation deck at an altitude of 900 m. The area could be seen at a glance. And even part of the Italian coast was visible.

We traveled on our own to Kerkyra on a regular bus. The city is small. We visited the old fortress. We saw the monument to Admiral F. F. Ushakov. Royal residence. We walked around the center of the capital. We visited the Church of St. Spyridon. And just walked through the narrow streets of the city. At 2 pm, the Greeks begin their siesta. Almost all shops, banks and other institutions are closed. Greeks sit in cafes and drink coffee. Rest so to speak.
I almost forgot, in the capital there is a store called "Naomi", which sells leather and fur products. I recommend to go. Sellers will pick you up and tell you. They will even offer you a drink if you are not driving. The choice of fur coats and leather goods is wide. Immediately I say, bargain with the owner of the store. The discounts are not bad. A taxi is called free of charge from the hotel.
Briefly about car rental. I previously, literally on the third day of our stay on the island, booked a Volkswagen Polo car through a hotel guide. As a result, I receive a Saab car, an executive class, through a representative of the Gertsa transport company. I have no skills to drive on mountain roads in such a big car. Therefore, I refused. And my booked car was given to a German from another hotel. Yes, it's my own fault. Booked a car for the penultimate day of rest. There are car rental companies in the village. Cheaper than a hotel.
Let me tell you a little about nutrition. The hotel operates on the "Ultra All Inclusive" system. "Ultra All Inclusive" includes: food, local drinks, some sports entertainment, imported drinks and significantly expands the range of sports entertainment offered to tourists at no extra charge. The food was excellent. In the morning for breakfast there was always juice from fresh oranges, fruits, olives and black olives (there were always), scrambled eggs, bacon, tea, coffee, cocoa, yogurt, sour cream. There were several varieties of cheese, sausage, ham in the cut. The bread is very tasty. For lunch, salads, vegetables, soups (two types), meat and fish dishes. Greek national dishes. Wine white and red (local production), beer and artificial juices. For dinner, almost the same range of dishes as for lunch.
The hotel's main restaurant is Dionissos. Once a week, you can order a table in the Italian restaurant "Mama Mia" according to the "A la carte" system. And also in the Greek restaurant "Zorbas" book a table in advance. At least every evening.

In the end, the holiday was a success. The hotel is excellent. Except for one trouble, which was worth waiting for a flight home for about 6 hours. The strike that began in Athens and was supported in other regions of the country.
