Below is a letter from my wife to Grecotel regarding the divorce that the Greeks arranged for us in the face of the host - be careful. My recommendations: better choose another island and another network.

From 20.06. 07 to 30.06. 07, we (2 adults + child 7 years old) were on vacation on the island of Corfu, at the Corfu Imperial 5 * hotel, which belongs to the Grecotel system.
In the travel agency "Pan Ukraine", whose regular customers we are, we were recommended a "superior bungalow" room as a "famous class" room, on the first line of the sea, with access to the "famous class" beach. At the same time, a catalog was shown, the furnishings of the room and a map of the hotel with the location of the bungalow in which they planned to accommodate us.


When we arrived at the hotel, we were placed in a room, which, according to the hotel map and the area of ​ ​ ​ ​ the room, belonged to the “standard bungalow” category.
We turned to the reception desk with a request to clarify this situation, since we paid for a higher class room, and the price difference between the "standard" and "superior" bungalows was about 2300 Eur.
At the reception, they explained to us that this year the hotel was renovated and some rooms upgraded their category, but the maps remained from last year. So, last year the room in which we were settled belonged to the category of "standard" bungalow, and this year it became a "superior" bungalow. At the same time, compared with the room that we purchased in "Pan Ukraine" and which was shown to us in the catalog, the difference was not only in the location of the bungalow, but also in the area and decor of the room.

Due to the fact that such changes took place close to the tourist season, the most important things that would confirm the inclusion of a bungalow in the category of a higher class and justify such a difference in price, unfortunately, were not done.
Namely, by the time of our stay, the condition of direct access to the beach was not met, that is, the descent to the sea from the “superior bungalow” was not equipped. It was possible to go down to the sea only from the side of the central building, to which it was necessary to walk about 200 meters. It turns out that having paid 2300 Eur more than everyone who stayed in a standard bungalow or a standard room in a building, we ended up in the most remote room from:
1) beach
2) main restaurant and bars
3) Basin

When we asked the meeting party - the Kanoulas Travel company - to explain to us what is the difference between the "standard" and "superior" bungalows, the director of the company said that in the "superior bungalow" the repair is a little better, but our request to show to us what a “standard” bungalow looks like inside, for some reason he did not comply.

We visited the room of our acquaintances of the "standard bungalow" category, who at the same time were resting in the hotel and were surprised to see the same furniture, the same renovation in the room. At the same time, when asking Mr. Nikos the Director of Kanoulas Travel that there is no difference between “superior” and “standard bungalow”, except for yellow towels, we received an answer that if we really want, they will give us a certificate that we live in "superior bungalow". Why the agency in Kyiv does not know about the change in the category of the bungalow, Mr. Nikos admitted that they did not have time to give information about this to the operators, but everything is on the site.
A few days before our departure, the hotel began to equip the beach near the "superior bungalow" and a nearby villa, which was undergoing renovation during our stay (photo attached).
We believe that in the future (perhaps even at the end of this season) the hotel planned to create a beach and provide a separate access to it directly from the superior bungalow room, as was done for all other famous class rooms (junior bungalow suite, etc. ) . But, unfortunately, we did not have time to use it. Therefore, in our case, the overpayment of 2300 Eur was unjustified.

In this case, we tend to regard this fact as misleading us and would like to get the difference between the cost of a "standard bungalow" and a "superior" bungalow back, since we could not take advantage of the rest in the room that was shown to us according to the catalog in the agency "Pan Ukraine".
If there is no response to our letter, we will be forced, first, to place it on sites dedicated to tourist travel, along with photos and comments, as a warning to other Russian-speaking tourists, and second, to contact the consumer rights protection society of Ukraine with a complaint against the Grecotel representative office in Ukraine.
