Great holiday in Crete
This year we went on a trip to the island of Crete, Greece. We went on a ready-made tour, the hotel was in the town of Malia, in the old city. The old town of Malia is beautiful and picturesque, with narrow streets and colorful flowers. The modern part of Malia is a completely party place. The main street - only bars, clubs and cafes, life is in full swing there all night.
However, our vacation was not limited to Malia alone. We rented a car and visited many beautiful places. It turns out much cheaper than excursions, and more impressions. The first route included the city of Agios Nikolaos, the villages of Elounda and Plaka, very beautiful and picturesque places. On the second day we visited Heraklion and went to the Libyan Sea, to the hippie village of Matala. A very cozy and beautiful town, with bright graffiti and caves where hippies used to live. On days 3 and 4 we had the longest - two-day route to the west of the island. There are a lot of interesting places in the west of Crete, so I had to choose. As a result, we got the following route: Rethymno (the old fortress of Fortecia), freshwater lake Kournas, Devil's Bay, Elafonisi (we arrived there by sunset, stayed at a local hotel for the night and met the dawn there), Balos, Chania. Remembering this whole busy route, I would not remove anything from there, each place is beautiful and interesting in its own way.
In general, the rest in Crete was very eventful and could not but be enjoyed. Separately, it should be noted that the Greeks live there a very calm and measured life and are very happy with tourists.
