Holidays in Greece on about. Crete (Kato Gouves)

We want to share our impressions about the trip to about. Crete to Greece (the town of Kato Gouves, near Heraklion).
On about. We were in Crete for the first time, we generally liked the rest very much, the only thing is that this part of the island where we were seemed to us not very green, we were still on about. Rhodes, where nature and architecture are much more beautiful
Air travel - "Aegean a / l" - they are all on top, no wonder they receive annual awards as "Best European Airline".
Hotel - "Maya Beach Hotel" 3* (in Kato Gouves), near Heraklion.
By location - it is convenient to get from Heraklion airport, not far - only 30 minutes. transfer.
It is also convenient to get to other places on the island (we went to Heraklion, Hersonissos, Agios Nikolaos) - there is a bus stop nearby, car rental is nearby - several companies, tour agencies, supermarkets, taverns are nearby. The hotel is located a bit on the outskirts of Gouves, but there is a promenade along which you can walk and the first line - which is a very big plus.
Beaches for every taste - in both directions - both sandy and pebbly - with and without waves, where there are breakwaters.
In terms of accommodation - a good 3* (but nothing more!! )
A small hotel, not a high building, several buildings, clean, simple, no frills, there is a swimming pool in the courtyard, few people, only 10% of Russians, not noisy, all the staff are very friendly.
The chef and the hotel administrator were always present at the dinners in person - i. e. the hotel looks after its reputation.
For a quiet, relaxing, inexpensive family vacation, without animation.
We had a room in the main building, on the 2nd floor, even a 2-room one, with air conditioning, 2 balconies.
The only negative is very hard mattresses!!!
In general, there are no complaints about the hotel.
In terms of nutrition - for level 3 * - very high quality food and all inclusive!
But, for all inclusive - there are very few drinks in the bar, there are no cocktails, although for a 3 * level it may be as it should be.
We liked everything, especially dinners - delicious cakes and pastries! It is evident that the chef is trying very hard!
There was always a variety - meat or fish, various side dishes, vegetables. Ice cream for lunch and dinner.
Fruit is not enough though, they are mostly chopped, but for a 3* it seems to be normal.
Breakfast is very poor, but probably like everywhere else in Europe.
If you wish, you can rent a car and drive around the island.
It depends on who is planning what kind of vacation - in any case, everyone will find something to do for themselves.
Nearby is the Cretan Aquarium - we highly recommend visiting, we liked it.
We had a good rest, we do not regret that we went, considering the weather in St. Petersburg this year!!!
