Rested from 7 to 21 August 2011 Two adults and a teenage son. They met us at the airport, took us to the hotel by a wonderful bus in 40 minutes. It was posted there quickly.
We didn’t like the room, because, firstly, it overlooked the street with a balcony and it was noisy at night (cars, noisy drunken youth), and secondly, it was cramped and not very comfortable in the same room for the three of us. In the morning they asked to change the room, and without much persuasion they met us halfway. Maybe so lucky, but I'm sure that the number would have been changed in another case - with a certain persistence. (Free of charge. In general, no one extorted tips and did not wait - neither maids, nor loaders ... ). In the afternoon we moved to another room, in a quieter place, besides, it had another small room with a bunk (children's, but large, spacious and strong) bed with a ladder.
The rooms are of the same type: two twin beds, a space of 10 cm between the mattresses, two bedside tables, a dressing table, an ottoman, a couple of chairs, a TV with a mini-fridge, a built-in wardrobe. The bathroom has a wall-to-wall mirror, a toilet, a bathtub, and a shower in it. The floor is slippery (! ). There is a hair dryer, but it's cheap and worked "with reluctance" in both rooms. Balcony 1.5x2.5 m and without much fuss: two plastic chairs and a table. If someone likes to dry clothes on the balcony, bring your own ropes and clothespins. Safe is paid: 30 euros for 2 weeks, 15 for one (take it - your head will not hurt). The TV shows about 20 programs, of which two are Russian (first and RTR-Planet) and one Ukrainian - for some reason not the most popular Channel 5. The air conditioner worked properly.

The room was cleaned daily, towels changed every three days. Once, however, had to be reminded.
Sea and beach. Beach towels (blue) are all used to "book" sun loungers on the beach and around the pool.
We woke up in the morning, took our places wherever they wanted, and for breakfast. However, there was no “battle” for sun loungers and umbrellas. There was enough for everyone, and there were leftovers. You don't have to pay for sun loungers and umbrellas. Some of the sun loungers are on the grass between the palm trees. Chaise lounges are very comfortable, soft, do not break.
The beach is sandy, it is easy to build castles from sticky sand, etc.
You should not enter the sea (it is called Cretan) right in front of the restaurant - shallow water and sharp stones, you can hurt your legs. But you can carefully swim in this place with a mask and snorkel: look at sea urchins, striped fish (not the same, of course, as in Egypt, but still), beautiful stones. Once my son and I found a huge (it's like a fisherman. Well, okay, not huge, but just large, more than 10 cm) shell with a live mollusk. Photographed as material evidence and again released into the sea.
On another occasion, I was chasing some unidentified crustacean that looked like a large stretched shrimp. She ran away from me along the bottom, constantly looking over her “shoulder”.
In general, everyone bathes a little away from the hotel beach, on the left. You can also swim on the beach on the right along the coast, but go there a little further, not for the lazy (you need to get up from the sunbed, put on slippers and stomp as many as 80-100 meters along the coast, you will be tormented).

Five of our 14 days was not a weak storm. Beautiful, of course, but dangerous. The outgoing wave with great force drags you into the sea, and the meter-long incoming one covers you with your head. An inexperienced swimmer may well choke once or twice and cough, go to visit Neptune. This almost happened to me on the first day of the storm. It would seem that you row with all your might, but ...you hang in place. Thanks to the ropes with buoys - I grabbed one of them and, moving my hands along it, simply pulled myself ashore.
But the feeling of how the sea literally pulls out a slippery cable from your hands, then did not pass for a long time. The next day, he helped a woman escape "from the hands" of the sea, whose eyes were already round with fear. A couple of days later I saw how the cables helped a man with a teenage daughter. So - do not joke with the sea!
After dinner, the pools are cleaned with a special “vacuum cleaner” (more precisely, a sand pump). The pools are for children, so the depth is 80-100 cm, in the deepest place 140 cm, you need to dive carefully. The jacuzzi is constantly working near the salt water pool (the one near the beach). There is a separate pool for very young children.
Near the beach and the pool - an outdoor shower with fresh water. There is also a toilet with changing rooms.
The hotel territory is slightly hilly and relatively large;
But at the same time compact: even from the most distant buildings (rooms) to the beach and restaurant 2 minutes walk. Everything is clean, the lawns are mowed, the territory is decorated with flowers, huge cacti and "ficuses", palm trees. It turns out that not only chernozems are fertile, but also red soils (and also yellow soils in the tropics). The chirping of grasshoppers is a little annoying ( some of them are unusually noisy; at the same time, one starts, others pick up - and off you go! ), but only at first; then they got used to them and [almost] did not notice them.
Vacationers. Mostly Slavic brothers rested in the hotel, as well as friendly non-Slavic peoples - Tatars, Chuvashs, Mordovians, etc. There are direct flights to Heraklion not only from Moscow and Kyiv, but also, for example, from Irkutsk and Kemerovo. There were Germans, French, Italians, and British (10-15% of the total number of tourists). As a rule, families with children or couples of newlyweds or those over 50.

Rarely - two girls, even less often - three or four guys. Few other than children actively socialized outside of their "family. " Maybe the fact is that many come only for 7 days, before you have time to get to know each other, it's time to say goodbye, besides, arrivals and departures are almost daily.
The staff is friendly and helpful, especially the waiters and bartenders. They greet, immediately blurt out the entire stock of Russian words (“Good afternoon, like dilya, harashyo”), smile. If you call, they run, they understand with one gesture whether you need a napkin or a fork. The waiters in the restaurant and on the beach are trying to quickly remove dirty plates and glasses from the tables, just in case, asking again: “Finish? » The maids are smiling and inconspicuous. The girls at the reception are attentive, but not so smiling. But the instructor in the gym/sauna is just mean: “It’s impossible without sports shoes! ”, “You need to bring your own towels”, “Children are not allowed! ", " You have half an hour. Time has passed ”(does this service remind you of anything? ).
It must be hard and boring for him to sit all day in a cool semi-basement hall, listen to music, sometimes "swing" on shells. "In the dungeon is damp ...a young eagle. " Gloomy and "persons keeping order near the pool and the beach. " But they are good at whistling the whistle and waving their arms.
They flew back with an 8-hour flight delay, instead of 17.20 at 1 am. Since it was necessary to vacate the room at 12.00, we handed over our things to the wardrobe, had lunch, then sunbathed and shopped, then had dinner, then at the reception they gave us the key to the duty room, where we could wash before leaving and put ourselves in order. The bus arrived at the appointed time and took us to the airport. Everything is well thought out and clear.
Of the Russian speakers at the reception, the sad girl Olya worked (in the past tense, because the work is seasonal, and the season is already ending), in a bar near the beach - Mark and Lydia. You can talk to them about local customs, climate and weather, etc.

Food cannot be called varied, but it cannot be called monotonous either. Here is such a paradox. Like this? Come and see for yourself. I will try to explain just some of the features. So, dinner is the most diverse. As a rule, really good dishes, tasty and a lot of everything. Breakfast and lunch are the same every day. Breakfast: boiled eggs, fried eggs, pasta, french fries, 4 types of cheese, 4 types of sausage (it is better not to eat it), stewed vegetables, fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, onions and shredded cabbage, some other “grass”, gravy , sauces, rolls, shortbreads, 3-5 types of "oriental sweets" or hard kissels, peaches, melon, apples, watermelon - all cut into slices. Lunch: everything is the same, but no eggs, instead of them something meaty (chops or skewers, or meat pieces, or chicken pieces, or just chicken wings ... ) or fried fish. It seems to be not enough. But when you see it in the morning on the eighth, ninth, etc.
once - it becomes uncomfortable.
Twice there was a "special" restaurant: Chinese and fish restaurants. It's in a tavern near the pool. It’s stupid to come there in an evening dress: after all, the same “buffet”. In general, everything is like at a regular dinner - the same wines, the same snacks, but a little more solemnly, the tables are a little larger, the tablecloths are whiter, the main dishes are more exotic.
Once the restaurant arranged a barbecue dinner for everyone. Everything was like a regular dinner, but all the dishes were put out on the street, near the pool, and several corresponding meat dishes were cooked on the coals.
Alas, with all this, it was not possible not to recover by a couple of kg. You should be more restrained, especially in relation to sweet and starchy foods.
Alcohol. Beer (one variety) and dry wine (red, rose and yellow) flow from the taps of the barrels in the restaurant (in fact, the barrel is just for show, camouflage, wine in 20-liter bags is hidden in the nightstand and is served under pressure). Drink - how much you drink.
The wine is good, you can easily drink 400–500 ml, half an hour after that you will be “sweet”, then your head does not hurt, nor does your allergy torment you. In the bar on the beach until night you can drink beer, wine, brandy (to taste - pure beet moonshine), ouzo (I do not recommend it, a disgusting drink, with the taste of some kind of children's medicine), brandy (for those who do not know - this is what we usually call cognac, although it is accepted all over the world that cognac is brandy produced in the city of Cognac and its environs (Charente department, France)). Brandy, let's say, not very good, comparable to our best "cognacs" like "Zakarpatsky".
Sauna or Turkish bath - once per tour, half an hour. Nothing special. In Turkey, this is much more interesting.
The animators were, it seems, from Hungary. One is older, a born artist, the rest are young people without special talents. One girl is Russian.

In the evenings, they held mini-discos and concerts for children, and in the morning, without much enthusiasm and without success, they tried to lure at least someone to play volleyball or shoot from a bow. I have never seen such lazy people anywhere else. The fact is that on the volleyball court and on the shooting range it was necessary to go up from the sea, to the other end of the territory. But the animators did not convince persistently.
Another thing is girls and women. The music turned on and right there, in the pool near the sea, to the delight of everyone, under the guidance of an animator, they clapped and stomped for half an hour a day.
Tours. Initially, they did not intend to go anywhere. But lying on the beach for two weeks - what kind of willpower do you need to have? ! !
Therefore, we went on an excursion to the mountains, to a nunnery, passing through a plateau to a cave where Zeus was allegedly born (by the way, it does not resemble a maternity hospital in any way), to a pottery workshop and to a “wine and oil” factory, and also went several times to Malia - shopping, etc. We regretted that we did not take a driver's license. Huge selection of cars for rent. 100 euros rental (for a couple of days), about 2 euros per liter of the 95th (i. e. 100 euros for 50 liters) and in a couple of days you can drive 500-600 km - almost all the main attractions of the island (minimum 5-6 excursions ). Be very careful on mountain serpentines. But the beauty in the mountains (sorry for the cliché ) is indescribable! Therefore, I will not describe. At the same time, one "organized" excursion - 50 euros per person from a travel agent and a third less - in the city agency of Malia.
Quad bike, moped, bike rental - it's not a problem at all.
Young people, in appearance, judging by the tattoos, English, German, French, in flocks (herds, packs) ride quad bikes around the clock.
Shopping. Rags are immensely expensive and do not represent anything special, glasses, toys - Chinese rubbish. You can buy purely Greek souvenirs (wooden or clay, very beautiful photo calendars), as well as olive oil (no more than 0.8 percent, and preferably up to 0.3), olive soap, wine. I will not write anything about fur coats from male solidarity.

There were no cases of thefts / fights / quarrels, no one in the hotel spoke obscenities. What a Greek policeman / traffic cop looks like, I did not find out for 2 weeks of vacation in Greece.
The hotel fully corresponds to its 4 stars. The rest is almost comparable to the rest in a 5-star hotel in Turkey. "Almost" refers primarily to the size and general quality of the rooms, the number and size of the pools, the presence / absence of children's slides.
The undoubted advantage of this hotel is a beautiful beach and a pool near the beach.
