It turned out that the city beach at the pier is located about 1200 meters from the hotel, you have to go down a steep mountain for a long time, and then climb up . . But you quickly got used to such exercises for your legs and heart.
Nice pool with sea water at the bar. Meals breakfast-dinner justifies itself in terms of day trips around the island and the absence of you at the hotel . . BUT the breakfasts are absolutely the same - eggs in different forms, tomatoes, cucumbers, pastries, puff pies on a baking sheet, cereal, raisins, etc. hot water machine and 3 types of coffee Dinner is more interesting - fish (mostly tilapia or pangasius! And this is in a village where they fish at sea !!! ), small mussels or shrimp, pork, beef, chicken, lamb, traditional vegetables, greens, fruit salad is not bad , sliced watermelon, biscuit cakes with chemical filling.
The room is cleaned every day, but without fanaticism, linen and towels are changed. I really liked the presence of a small kitchen with a sink, a stove, an ancient refrigerator, kitchen utensils - plates, spoons, a bread knife, cups, glasses and even a saucepan with a ladle. The neighbors even had a corkscrew! It was a pity there was no frying pan! The bathroom is decent, clean, but the water does not drain well. The air conditioner is old but works well. There is a TV with a Russian channel. There is also a small balcony with chairs, a table, a rope with clothespins for drying clothes. The bedroom is small with two beds, a wardrobe. Not all rooms have double-glazed windows.
The people rest different, a lot of Germans, British, French, Poles, Russians in the season, too many.
We rented a car in Elounda for 3 days -80 euros with full insurance, the Volz is small, the consumption is small and it goes well uphill. Gasoline from 1.62 to 1.9 euros per liter. Drove 500 km. On Friday mornings, there is an imported vegetable market in Elounda. You can stock up on fruits and vegetables at competitive prices. There are a lot of different fish restaurants in Elounda, the prices are not cheap, but delicious.
By the way, the cheapest Cretan olive oil in a tin (5l for 26s we bought home at the Halkiadakis supermarket in Agios Nikolaos. In the German Lidl supermarket you can buy 5l in plastic for 16s in general ! ! - in blown fries prices start at 8.3 euros per liter)
The beaches are free, but umbrellas and sunbeds from 2 to 9. The beaches along the coast are wonderful with clear turquoise blue water and pebble sand. We went to Vai beach with palm trees, Kolokita bay, Vulisma and Istro beach, in Chersonese a good beach.
In general, we had a good rest. There were a lot of positive impressions and pleasant memories.
