Special thanks to the animator Kiko, who amuses guests year after year, a great guy! There is a children's club, a Russian-speaking girl is involved with the children. The hotel has very friendly staff who are always happy to help, a Russian-speaking guy Grigory works at the reception.
The room is spacious, bright, overlooking the sea, pleasant colors of the interior, the furniture is in good condition, the bathroom is clean, the room is also neat, cleaned daily.
It takes about 5 minutes to walk to the sea, the sea is very clean here, as there are practically no waves in this bay, so swimming is a pleasure.
Near the hotel is a network of five-star hotels, where world stars usually rest.
I really like the territory of the hotel, there are several swimming pools for adults and children, a children's playground, a tennis court, a volleyball court, parking for cars, a spa, a sauna, a gym.
The hotel operates on an all-inclusive basis, the food is good, there is a variety of dishes, the products are fresh, deliciously cooked.
Be sure to take an excursion to the island-fortress of Spinalonga, a beautiful place with its own history. We flew to the island of Santorini, we were also impressed, the most beautiful island, which is worth visiting in the first place while relaxing in Crete!
just returned, decided to write a review while fresh impressions!
I would like to immediately thank the hotel staff, especially Grigory at the reception and our separate guide Tatyana for such service, they were always ready to help, answer any questions.
We arrived early in the morning, despite the fact that check-in at the hotel at 14:00 our room was already ready. The room is small, clean, we had in the main building with a sea view, a safe in the room for an additional fee.
Separately, I would like to note the restaurant, a large selection of dishes, desserts, fruits, and everything was very tasty!
The hotel area is not large, very green, on the territory there is a chapel, several pools. Animation is provided for children. Once there was a Cretan evening, they learned to dance sirtaki, had fun to the glory.
As for the beach, there is a small lagoon with a sandy gentle entry into the sea, good for children, such a pool where there are no waves at all, and you can go down into the sea from a pontoon, there is a bar nearby where you can grab a bite to eat. We often walked to Elounda, there is a sandy beach with a good entry into the sea, a promenade where it is pleasant to take a walk in the evening, many taverns, mini markets. Be sure to go to the city of Agios Nikolaos, it is sooo beautiful there, especially the view of the city from the observation deck above the lake. We went there on an excursion to Spinalonga, an island that deserves
special attention, I advise everyone to visit it and it is with a guide, because the history of the island gives you goosebumps! With a child, we went to see the cave of Zeus and the Palace of Knossos, in general, we had a program
rich, because Greece needs to be seen, there are so many interesting things! I highly recommend the Elounda area for a comfortable, family vacation.
The room was nice, spacious and well furnished. Having settled in, we had time before lunch and we went to explore the territory. Although it turned out to be small, it was clean, well-groomed and green, with many palms and flowers. The lobby bar offers a gorgeous view of the sea, nearby islands and mountains.
The food throughout the rest was excellent: a large selection of appetizers, salads, hot dishes. Pleasantly pleased with the corner of traditional Greek dishes, where every day you could try something new.
Walk to the beach 7-10 minutes, sunbeds and towels are free. He was a little disappointed, as there was no smooth entrance to the sea, but just a concrete slab with stairs directly into the sea. But my husband liked it, he loves to dive, jump from the pier. But at the same time, I was very pleased with a small artificial pool with sand for children, surrounded on all sides by a concrete slab. There was no need to worry that the child would be carried away to the sea or that he would go to great depths.
There is a public sandy beach about 3 km from the hotel, where we went several times to get a little change of scenery. I also liked the animation in the hotel: not intrusive, but at the same time interesting. The child was especially pleased with the children's disco every day after dinner. Summing up, I can say that the rest went with a bang, the value for money is excellent and we have never regretted that we chose this hotel for our holidays.
The room was good: comfortable, bright and with everything you need. The only thing that is important is that the safe is paid - 3 € per day. You pay at the reception and immediately receive instructions on how to use it. We lived in a room in a bungalow overlooking the garden, but we also could see a piece of the sea - this could not but rejoice. There were practically no Russians in the hotel: mostly French, Germans, Poles. But for us it was more of a plus than a minus.
The food was tasty and plentiful: breakfast, brunch, lunch, then you could have a bite to eat at the snack bar by the pool or on the beach, and there you won’t have time to look back and dinner. The hotel has 3 swimming pools: 2 for adults and 1 for children. It is very convenient that 1 for adults is a little far away, so who wants to relax without children is what you need. Who wants to change the atmosphere of the hotel - 2.5 km from the center of Elounda, with a variety of cafes, restaurants and taverns for every taste and budget. You can either walk there or take a taxi (6-8€). In general, we liked everything very much, we would gladly come to rest in this hotel again.
TUI representatives organized a top-level meeting and transfer. While getting to the hotel, which is about 2 hours, we looked at the island and other hotels, there was no fatigue from the trip. Upon arrival at the hotel, at about 11 o'clock in the afternoon, the reception asked to wait, as the room was not ready. In general, the room was not ready for a few more hours, but during this time it was quite possible to go around the territory, change clothes, go to the beach and the nearest shop, which is a 2-minute walk down. Meals were breakfast/dinner. Which was enough to leave time to digest goodies or try something local. Those who usually complain about food in hotels. . . well then I don't know what to eat at home. Fruits, vegetables, meat, sauces, even according to our requests, soups, sweets, ice cream. . . it's all there. Continental breakfast, coffee, tea, juice (very diluted yuppies) for free, in the evening for a fee. You won't leave hungry, you'll have a delicious meal too.
Since the country is mountainous, the hotel buildings, and they are divided into sectors, the route for which you will be given immediately with information on the hotel, are located next to each other uphill. To the sea for 5-7 minutes at a normal pace. Again, a little uphill on the way back, but good for health) The beach is in the form of a ledge in the rock, where there is a place for a paddling pool, and for self-confident, there are steps to the depth. The water is clear, so even at great depths, you can see everything. Sunbeds and umbrellas for free. On city beaches 4 euros, but you can lie like that. Greece is a country of winds, even the Mirabello Bay, where the hotel is located, does not delay them much. This is the plus of the fact that the beaches are not sandy... it does not carry in the face and the legs are clean. Waves all the time but pleasant. Take a mask or goggles - the underwater world is beautiful. At the hotel in the sea you can swim without special shoes, if somewhere in other places or nearby, then you still need it, because the entry is heavy, rocky, there are hedgehogs.
In the evenings it can even be cool, even up to +40 during the day, so take a blouse. Insects in the form of mosquitoes or midges are also sometimes present, although I was lucky, I literally saw a couple of them all the time, but I took the fumigator)
The hotel on the first floors has tiled floors, air conditioning is free. The bathroom has a set of gel-shampoo and soap. Cleaned every day, towels changed too. By the way, blue towels are specially for the beach. Clean, comfortable. Sockets do not require adapters or adapters, the power supply is standard. If you need anything, ask at the reception, they help instantly. Greek people are very pleasant, smiling and sympathetic.
There is no animation in the hotel as such, but every evening the administration tries to arrange something like watching a movie, bingo, karaoke or a mini Cretan evening... in general, completely unobtrusively.
There is no family-type hotel, discos, parties and other things, so you are here if you want to relax your body and soul.
In the lobby you can drink delicious coffee or a cocktail, open until 01.00 at night.
Internet in the hotel is paid - 2 euros for 30 minutes, only in the main building.
There are 2 pools on the territory, one for children and parents with them, and a bar nearby for dads)) a little higher up the ladder, the second pool, deeper, you can see that it is covered for the winter.
If you leave the hotel and go down to the left, you will pass by a shop that has everything you need and at a price that is even lower than in other stores. If you go further without turning anywhere, then in 15-20 minutes you will reach the town of Elounda, where you can take a walk, sit in one of the taverns, drink Frappe and eat Moussaka. And if you wish, take a boat and swim to Spinalonga, round-trip - 10 euros + entrance ticket 2 euros, total - 12 euros, for guides who have the same trip costs 46 euros / person. In the same town you can buy souvenirs, the price does not differ from the same Ayios Nikolaos. Unless you go to Hersonissos, there, on average, 50 cents cheaper.
From Elounda there is a bus to Agios Nikolaos, every hour, cost 1.70, on the way, 20 minutes. This is also a beautiful Venetian town with a fresh lake in the center - Voulismeni. Walk, enjoy. You can completely bypass it in a few hours, then sit in a cafe and leave by bus. There is a separate bus from the hotel, but it runs twice a day, the schedule is given upon arrival, it's the same, just go to it less than to a regular stop.
If you rent a car, carefully study the insurance, chase for cheapness - you will lose in the event of an accident... often they save on insurance, so you only need full insurance! Greeks can do everything on the roads, tourists - only according to the rules! The roads are narrow, mountainous. . . not sure - forget your driving license at home and enjoy "route 11")
From the same town, A. Nikolaos, you can go to other towns, information can be found immediately at the final stop where your bus arrives, in the information center.
Buses are comfortable, they run, but if they are late for 10-15 minutes, this is the norm! In Greece, it is not customary to rush and be nervous; )
Even if you do not know English at all, no one has canceled the language of gestures and smiles. The Greeks try very hard to help, they speak English very well. But it's still better to learn at least something before the trip)
The hotel recommends booking a trip to the Cretan evening and Santorini. The first is for those who want to drive across the entire island to the mountains and enjoy at least a drop of color, the second is for those who want to see white houses, white ladders against the backdrop of the blue-blue sea. Both excursions are not easy in terms of distance, especially on Santorini, because if you suffer from seasickness, take pills, it takes 3 hours to sail there by ferry. Speaking of drugs. It is better to take the first necessary, such as anti-cold, from the ears, nose, head, etc. , with you, since in pharmacies everything is according to prescriptions. God willing, nothing bad will happen to you. From the sun and for sunburn, everything is sold on the spot, but you can take your own.
The island of Crete is beautiful, conducive to peace and relaxation. Do not be afraid to go, learn new things and most importantly - enjoy)
On the way back, we were also picked up by representatives of the tour operator, literally by the hand they brought us all to the check-in counter and passport control at the airport, and only then said goodbye.
In general, impressions and memories are only positive, pleasant and warm.
The hotel is located in the eastern part of Crete, about 70-80 km from Heraklion (the transfer takes about 2 hours, by car 40 minutes less).
I’ll make a reservation right away - the hotel is for those who are for a relaxing holiday, there is nothing for fans to hang out there, although the aniators try and offer something new every evening (there are no discos with dancing until the morning). The contingent is 80-90% pensioners from Germany and France. There are also vacationers from Russia, but much less. The staff mainly communicates in English or German, but they can also say a few words in Russian. Those. basic knowledge of English + Russian will be enough for you to solve minor issues. By the way, several representatives of travel agencies are on duty at the hotel (Mouzenidis, Tez-tour), they will also always help with language problems. We had a room overlooking the pool, the sea covers half of Kolokita, so the view is more of a bay than of the sea. The room is not very big, but always clean, tiles on the floor. I recommend to close the curtain from the sun in the morning, the sun is very burning. But at the same time, the wind constantly blows - in the morning from the sea, in the evening - from the mountains. The territory is very large, but always clean and well-groomed. There are 2 swimming pools - one below the main building, next to the bar. And there are more people around him. The second one is a little higher, there are fewer people, but you have to go down the stairs to the bar. The food is very good, everything is always fresh. If you are going to travel around Crete, HB will be enough for you, it is better to use the difference for other entertainment. But if you realize that this does not suit you, then the hotel offers a transition to FB or AI for quite reasonable money. The beach near the sea is small pebbles, but the depth is decent enough, especially for those who are not confident in their abilities, but for this there is a pool inside the pier. If there is a desire, there is the village of Elounda in the mines, there are several beaches with a flatter bottom, but there are sea urchins (the water is clear, they are very clearly visible - a black ball the size of a tennis ball), so especially with children you need to be careful.
Excursions in the hotel is better not to take (expensive). For example - from Elounda to the island of Spinalonga you can get for 10 euros, from Agios Nikolas a 4-hour boat trip with swimming in the open sea and entering the island - 15 euros. The hotel price is 40 euros (albeit with a barbecue). Elounda can be reached on foot, Agios Nikolaos is 15 minutes by normal bus for 1.7 euros per person. For children under 18 entrance tickets are free. You can rent a car - both near the hotel and in Elounda there are a lot of rental agencies. But if you are going to drive not only along the coast, you need to take a more powerful car, for a family of 3 people they took 1.4 liters of VW POLO - not a fountain, especially if you drive along mountain roads. Traffic is acceptable, but it's best not to exceed 90 km/h on the highway, in us. points - 50 km/h. Therefore, if you are aiming to visit as many local attractions as possible, it will be costly and inconvenient without a car. But gasoline is very expensive, about 1.75-1.80 euros / liter. It is better to look at souvenirs in Agios Nikolaos, in Elounda it is still more expensive. Yes, and the town itself is worth a look, it will take a little time, but there are a lot of impressions. Useful advice - if you arrive there by bus, immediately ahead 20 m and on the right there will be a municipal tour bureau, where there are free materials, including in Russian.
90% French families + 10% Italian families. We were the only ones there from Ukraine )) but by the end of our stay, I already saw several couples from Russia. We didn’t see a family-type hotel, we didn’t see discos with him, but if anyone needs it, then across the road in Elunda Aqua Beach (a hotel on the beach by the sea) there are discos and restaurants, guests from a neighboring hotel are accepted without problems.
The food is very tasty and varied. It is incomparable with Turkey and Egypt. Nearby there is a tavern where you can also dine with all sorts of goodies that the hotel does not offer, king prawns, for example. Near the hotel there is a kind of supermarket, where for a price with a "fat" of 1-2 euros you can buy drinks, food, souvenirs . . It's not far to go to the sea. On the beach, sunbeds and umbrellas are free, there is a vending machine where you can buy drinks and snacks. On the beach you can swim both in the open sea (entry, or rather jump from the ladder, because the coast is steep) and you won’t need 100% slippers from hedgehogs, or in an artificially made harbor (like an appendix) - it’s shallow and there are no high waves .
In general, I liked swimming on the beach more than in the pool at the hotel.
There are 2 swimming pools on site. They differ in their depth. Therefore, at one pool, animation entertains children and their parents, and at the second pool, no one - those who have no desire to be in the center of the hype swim there. Animation in French, but speak English too.
The hotel has a sauna and a gym - it's free. You just need to ask for the keys at the counter in the lobby.
The rooms are in a standard design overlooking the pool and there are also, as it were, bungalows, but I can’t call them that - it’s just a house for 4 families on 2 floors. The standing bathroom is made under the shower. Towels and linen are changed daily. You need to pay extra for the safe (week 13 euros of which 10 are returned as a deposit)
This hotel is encouraged to take all inclusive, and for those who do not have everything, the hotel offers a loyalty program in the transition from 1 boarding house to the second.
Excursions are cheaper to take in the city in agencies. There are plenty of them. There is a bus to Sant Nikolaus and Heraklion. If desired and possible, you can not rent a car, but drive on your own. Also, in 30 minutes of quiet walking (or for 1.60 euros with a half-hour waiting for the bus at the bus stop, which is 200 meters down the street from the hotel, so as not to walk a lot) you can reach the city center. At the central pier, every 30 minutes a boat goes to the island of Spina Lunga. You can stay on the island for almost a whole day and enjoy swimming in the sea, because. on the way back from the island you are not asked for a ticket and you can thus sail for 10 euros on one ship and sail for free on another. There is a fortress on Spina Lunga, however, you can find out about it in general sources. In the city, prices for items on the menu are 2-3 times more expensive than in a tavern near the hotel.
We also rented a car. She was new in mileage and in words too, although then she let us down a lot. They did not use the headlights and radio, and the car refused to start at all. With God's help, we got back to the hotel)))
The hotel and grounds are very intimate. Without pathos, window dressing and gigantism. White, low, masterfully inscribed in the surrounding hills, built so as not to block or disturb the beauty of the landscape. The territory is small, well-groomed and cozy, with palm trees and pools, with stone paths.
Inside the hotel is very natural, the interior has a lot of wood, stone and white textured plaster traditional for this region.
They put us in a bungalow overlooking the mountains. The view of the sea is not important for us - the sound of the surf is heard anyway, and when we got to the room in the evenings, there was no time for contemplation, just to fall into bed. The double room is spacious, equipped with everything you need, everything functioned and had a decent view. Once the drain in the shower was clogged, in the morning they said at the reception, by the time we returned in the afternoon everything was done.
I won’t talk about food, it’s a sore spot) I thought about losing five kilos in the open air, the game ended in a draw. It's just very tasty when everything is fresh and natural, and not from the refrigerator in the supermarket. Moreover, it was not cooked by a machine, but by a good cook with his own hands.
(By the way, my husband changed his attitude to lamb, before it was too “fragrant” and fatty for him, but grilled ribs and stewed shoulder blade with eggplant easily broke this stereotype). The hotel staff is generally diligent, which pleasantly surprised me. Usually in warm countries, people are lazy, the climate takes its toll, but here they reacted very energetically to any request, plus the traditionally positive attitude of the Greeks towards Russians.
Beach - in the traditional sense of the word - the hotel does not. I'm used to the fact that the beach is part of the coast covered with sand or pebbles, and here instead of it there is a rocky ledge. The first day I was taken aback, and then I got used to it and liked it. First of all, it's always clean, you know that you don't stomp on buried scraps and cigarette butts. Secondly, I got out of the water, stomped to the sunbed, there was no need to shake off my legs. Thirdly, in the evening it is a very cool feeling when you walk barefoot on a stone heated during the day.
In addition, there is a saltwater pool in the center of the ledge. A couple of times the sea was stormy because of the wind, pecking at the shore - only splashes in different directions, and we sat side by side in a calm pool and admired.
We often remember these two Greek weeks. We really liked the hotel, although, of course, it is not good for everyone. There isn't much to do for a young tusnyak. But those who are tired of the metropolis, of the hustle and bustle, will find complete relaxation here. We only advise you not to sit in a hotel in Sydney, but to draw up a program of interesting places in advance and alternate between the sea and trips. Ideally, you need to rent a car - then the pleasure will be complete.
