Last July, my husband and I came to Crete almost by accident. The vacation was planned in Thailand in the winter, but my husband had to change his place of work, a gap formed just in two weeks, and we rushed to the Natalie tour, to see what was hot there. Italy was counted - it turned out a little expensive for us, but Crete came out just right. Since there was a complete time pressure, they did not have time to pre-buy a guidebook or read about the island on the Internet, therefore they relied only on the recommendations of a travel agency employee and prospectuses. In general, the result was as follows: eastern Crete, Mirabello Bay, Elounda Aqua Sol Resort, a four-star hotel near Elounda.

The hotel and grounds are very intimate. Without pathos, window dressing and gigantism. White, low, masterfully inscribed in the surrounding hills, built so as not to block or disturb the beauty of the landscape. The territory is small, well-groomed and cozy, with palm trees and pools, with stone paths.

Inside the hotel is very natural, the interior has a lot of wood, stone and white textured plaster traditional for this region.

They put us in a bungalow overlooking the mountains. The view of the sea is not important for us - the sound of the surf is heard anyway, and when we got to the room in the evenings, there was no time for contemplation, just to fall into bed. The double room is spacious, equipped with everything you need, everything functioned and had a decent view. Once the drain in the shower was clogged, in the morning they said at the reception, by the time we returned in the afternoon everything was done.

I won’t talk about food, it’s a sore spot) I thought about losing five kilos in the open air, the game ended in a draw. It's just very tasty when everything is fresh and natural, and not from the refrigerator in the supermarket. Moreover, it was not cooked by a machine, but by a good cook with his own hands.
(By the way, my husband changed his attitude to lamb, before it was too “fragrant” and fatty for him, but grilled ribs and stewed shoulder blade with eggplant easily broke this stereotype). The hotel staff is generally diligent, which pleasantly surprised me. Usually in warm countries, people are lazy, the climate takes its toll, but here they reacted very energetically to any request, plus the traditionally positive attitude of the Greeks towards Russians.

Beach - in the traditional sense of the word - the hotel does not. I'm used to the fact that the beach is part of the coast covered with sand or pebbles, and here instead of it there is a rocky ledge. The first day I was taken aback, and then I got used to it and liked it. First of all, it's always clean, you know that you don't stomp on buried scraps and cigarette butts. Secondly, I got out of the water, stomped to the sunbed, there was no need to shake off my legs. Thirdly, in the evening it is a very cool feeling when you walk barefoot on a stone heated during the day.

In addition, there is a saltwater pool in the center of the ledge. A couple of times the sea was stormy because of the wind, pecking at the shore - only splashes in different directions, and we sat side by side in a calm pool and admired.

We often remember these two Greek weeks. We really liked the hotel, although, of course, it is not good for everyone. There isn't much to do for a young tusnyak. But those who are tired of the metropolis, of the hustle and bustle, will find complete relaxation here. We only advise you not to sit in a hotel in Sydney, but to draw up a program of interesting places in advance and alternate between the sea and trips. Ideally, you need to rent a car - then the pleasure will be complete.
