It took 1 hour and 30 minutes to get to the village of Elounda from Heraklion airport (tour operator "Mouzenidis"), the hotel is located in the center of the village, in Mirabello Bay, beautiful landscapes, next to a beautiful church with a bell tower.

1. Location.
It took 1 hour and 30 minutes to get to the village of Elounda from Heraklion airport (tour operator "Mouzenidis"), the hotel is located in the center of the village, in Mirabello Bay, beautiful landscapes, next to a beautiful church with a bell tower. There is no one at the reception, so go to the hotel restaurant and the hostess Maria or Elenia will give you the key. Very pleasant and friendly staff!
2. Food.
The hotel has a restaurant "ELO", 10% discount for hotel residents. Breakfasts are the same: scrambled eggs, croutons, tomatoes, cucumbers, cheese, sausage, eggs, muesli and cupcake.
We sometimes dined at the restaurant, the portions are large, everything is fresh, tasty and the price is normal compared to other establishments. 1 meat or fish dish + salad from 12-15 €, together for about 30 €. They cook very tasty!
There are supermarkets, you definitely won’t stay hungry, it makes no sense to buy dinners right away with a ticket, it’s good when you can try everything in different taverns.
3. Sea.
250 meters from the sea, sand and pebble beach (first small pebbles knee-deep, then large, there are good places to enter), the water is clear, warm, there are many mothers with children from 1 year old, but they sunbathe on the sidelines, where only sand. Sunbeds from 3 to 7 €, we did not take, in the morning after breakfast we took a place under the palm trees with a shade and sunbathed on our towels. There are showers and changing rooms. Many swim with masks, the water is clear (23-26 °), there are no waves, because it is a bay, the air is warm, in the evening up to 29 °, there are no mosquitoes. It is very slippery on the piers, it is better not to step. Take sunscreen 30 or 50 spf (15€ there). Around the mountains, nature and beautiful views.
4. Number.
Small, for the unpretentious, like at 2 *, there is a balcony (water the flowers! : ), a table and 2 chairs, plumbing is a bit old, a hairdryer, a shower room with a curtain 1 * 1 sq. m, the water is warm, sometimes hot, but so hot that cool was also normal. Linen is white, changed every 3 days, cleaning every day. There was a safe, but we didn't use it.
Road on both sides. We lived in room 202 on the 2nd floor. (there is an elevator), the windows overlook the mountains and the roofs of other houses, it's noisy, so it's better to pay for air conditioning and close the door. In the very heat, we if fruits (bought in an inconspicuous vegetable shop at the back of the hotel, it's cheaper there).
5. Excursions.
We rented a car from Mouzenidis for 2 days, a small brand new Nissan (approx. 60 € per day, 2.3 days cheaper) and traveled all over the southern part of the island on Maps. me. See where you want to go on the map or ask your guide. The roads are perfect, the traffic is not crazy, don't forget to take your driver's license! Very cool beaches, views of the mountains and bays are just incredible!!!
We walked 4.5 km to the town of Plaka along the beautiful promenade, where we boarded a boat for 10 €, sailed to about. Spinalonga (entrance to the island 8 €). I recommend visiting and reading the history of the island! Walked up and swam back to Elounda (this ticket is both ways, one office). There was no time limit.
You can sail directly from Elounda for 12 € and return at a convenient time, most importantly before 17.30. There is also a train to Plaka on the road.
On our own (by car) we went to about. Chrissi through the city of Ierapetra, the boat sails at 10.20 and back at 15.40 (25 € in both directions), but the price with the tour operator is almost the same. The island is incredible, the photos are fabulous, it's worth it! This is Heaven on earth! Take hats, water and food with you.
Santorini is a beautiful snow-white fairy tale, the views and photos are amazing, you need to go if you have finances and patience for the whole day (11 hours on the road and 6 hours on the island), a lot of people, it's hot, but very beautiful!
On the ship they give dry rolls, not food, take it better with you. I read that someone flew a plane from Heraklion, it's cool, save time on the road.
We went to Agios Nikolas by public transport, there are large green buses with a conder, you can find out the schedule at the bus stop (2 € one way 20 minutes), back stop in the same place where they landed.
A very beautiful town with a seaport, well worth the trip.
6. Entertainment.
The village of Elounda is calm, there are no parties and karaoke around the villa of millionaires (they are in Malia), cafes are open from 11 to 23, after sunset everyone walks along the promenade and eats in restaurants.
On Fri in the morning there is a bazaar near the beach (you can buy everything cheaper and fruits and clothes), on Sat there is a disco with a DJ on the beach (10 €) from 22.00 until the morning, you won’t fall asleep for sure. Basically it is a beautiful and peaceful holiday. Many Ukrainians, Russians, Germans, Englishmen, Poles and Greeks of different ages.
We really liked the Elounda place, we will be happy to come again!
