Paris
I thought for a long time whether to write a review about Paris. How much has been written about him, films shot and where can I compete with this. But as an ordinary tourist, I decided to leave a few words. This trip was the second, and the gap is not large, from September to May. Well, it just so happened. Personally, I never aspired to Paris. Well, he did not attract me. But my companion has a birthday and he chooses. The first trip was a bus tour with three nights in Paris. Thanks to the good organization of the trip TO Algol, we were able to see all the main sights in a calm rhythm. The Louvre, a boat ride on the Seine, Notre Dame, the Eiffel Tower, Montmartre, etc. Enough time to walk on their own. st. Rivoli, Champs Elysees plus shopping. We walked around the Latin Quarter, and of course the Moulin Rouge. Already after the departure from Paris was Versailles. To say we were delighted is an understatement. Yes, it’s interesting, yes, everything is for the first time, but there was absolutely no disappointment from the fact that musketeers and Fanfan Tulip do not walk the streets, but a sufficient number of not even black Frenchmen, but simply a mass of Arabs, wanders around. After Paris there were still worthy cities. We returned home, talked about the trip, showed photos, but were not delighted. Out of stupid habit, they hung magnets on the refrigerator. And then two weeks after the trip began. And my companion and I, without saying a word, poked our eyes into these uncomplicated pictures, and something happened in our souls. After some time, it began to seem to me that just a piece of me remained there on the Seine embankment. And so when the question arose of where to buy an air tour, Paris was chosen without saying a word. The second date was more meaningful, without platitudes and unnecessary emotionality, and probably therefore brought much more pleasure. The hotel from the windows of which you can see the Moulin Rouge (Eurotel) is an unobtrusive guide and a lot of free time. This time we went to Dorse, the last time after the Louvre there was no desire. We tried to see as much as possible. The target was Edouard Monet. The breakfast is on the grass, so small and the Balcony is just charming. Passing from picture to picture, one could see firsthand how and from what impressionism was born. Simply stunning. Our other goal was the Opera Garnier. Prepared in advance, one morning we went to the opening, since the hotel is not far away. The weather is beautiful, the streets are still half empty and we are certainly not the first. Polite Chinese are already waiting for the opening. Well what to write. We have been to many opera houses (and in Vienna too, and at a performance), but this is simply unreal beauty. I really wanted to go there for a performance, to find myself in the power of anticipation of the upcoming action. Well, what will be for what to return. We left the theater, opposite the store with Swatch watches. Bought as a memento of visiting the opera (watches are my thing). I will describe one more place that I wanted to see in France, maybe even more than Mont Saint Michel (so far it remains a dream). This is Sainte Chapelle. We also saw a lot of Catholic churches, but this is not even a cathedral. Built in the middle of the 13th century to store a relic, it impresses with its simplicity and grandeur. In the upper chapel, it seems that the light passing through thousands of colored glasses creates some kind of parallel space. And if you also imagine that each stained glass window has a certain meaning, then it’s just fantastic. A lasting impression from Sainte-Madeleine. We also went there in the morning. There were no people at all and we sat in silence for a very long time. Then they sat side by side in a cafe for a long time. Almost all the scaffolding was removed from the Conciergerie, only it seemed to me that it was all covered with smooth plaster, but I thought it was stone. On one of the slightly rainy evenings we went to Montmartre. This time we took the funicular. Tert Square filled with people drinking beer and wine. It was very noisy and not very comfortable. After wandering around, we found a cafe and, waiting for the rain, watched the life of the evening Montmartre. In general, the goal was achieved. We got to know Paris more and really fell in love with it, although my heart has been given to Budapest for a long time. Now we will definitely return before Christmas, when Paris will shine with lights.
