The biggest downside is the beach. All 11 days that we were in this hotel, we never removed algae, which are just heaps on the shore and two meters from the shore in the water. The algae on the shore smells strongly. Do not go to this hotel, this is the worst hotel I have visited in the Dominican Republic. We went to the nearby Arena Blanca beach, there is white sand and no algae. There are also not many algae on Bavaro and they are removed. Do not think that you will be lucky and you will see blue water and white sand, this will not happen. There will be heaps of smelly algae, which the hotel staff for some reason do not clean up.
There is no entertainment at the hotel, dance and karaoke lessons change in turn in the lobby of Punta Cana and Bavar. In the village every day only live music performed by a screaming singer.
They clean up very badly, the day before yesterday they cleaned up only at 18.20. I had to sit in the corridor and wait for them to clean up, instead of relaxing in the room before dinner. There were days when they didn't put water in the bar and stuff. Bed linen is dirty, not changed even once in 11 days. There is dust everywhere, because the cleaning is superficial.
Pools smell strongly of chlorine, dirty. They are not cleaned, only bleach is added. Swimming hair, worms. Hundreds of people sit in the pools from morning to evening without going to the toilet.
There are a lot of mosquitoes in the hotel, the bites of which are very itchy.
Everyone can enter Esmeralda, because there are no guards. You will not be able to enter Fantasia and the Barn. Esmeralda's bracelets don't give you any privileges, you can't even eat at other restaurants.
Think carefully before booking a tour to this hotel. The hotel is really 3 stars. One pathos, there is no service. Take a ticket better to Bavaro Princes, Majestic, Iberostar. These hotels clean the beaches and recruit positive staff. And better not go to Punta Cana, go to the Caribbean Sea, where there are no waves, algae, everything is cheaper. Do not spoil your vacation and do not lose a lot of money by buying a tour to this hotel.

We got our luggage without any problems, took a taxi and got to the hotel ($25 min. 40).
They settled us very quickly, the staff was friendly. The room smelled terribly of dichlorvos (cockroach repellent), we booked a room with a king size bed, but we were settled in a room with 2 separate beds (it is not possible to connect them), but we were very tired and postponed all the questions for tomorrow, and the time difference with our city (9 hours) makes itself felt...
The next day, all the "charms of the room" began to open, so:

The room is very dark, the brightest place is the bathroom.
Charging phones and other gadgets is not possible without turning off the lamps.
The furniture in the room is old, (wooden) there are smudges from the rain on the walls, the paint has peeled off in some places. There is a small TV with 3 Russian channels. The walls are very thin, you can hear absolutely everything that happens in the next room.
Bathroom: the shower is equipped with a standard watering can with a soft hose and a stationary upper "plate", if the shower works normally with a soft hose, then the stationary one is only for beauty, it does not perform the main function.
Also in the bathroom there are 2 sinks that are always clogged, you have to wash yourself in two at once, because the water leaves for a long time. The shower facilities have never been changed for us, this also applies to the bar. (If the staff is not reminded of all these benefits, you they won't bring anything). both in terms of age and quality. The presence of a huge window from the bedroom to the bathroom also aroused bewilderment, the essence of such a design decision remained incomprehensible to us, well, except maybe extra. light. . .

There are several restaurants on site: 1-main, where everyone has breakfast, lunch, dinner, 2-restaurant of Asian cuisine (Takara), 3-restaurant of Italian cuisine (Bella Italia), of those that worked.
After reading the reviews, we decided to go to an Asian restaurant, to say that it’s not tasty, to say nothing, these dishes are absolutely impossible to eat, they are simply not edible. The Italian one turned out to be a little better than the Asian one, what was our surprise when there was no traditional lasagna on the menu with minced meat. . .
The dishes in the main restaurant are quite decent, the assortment changes periodically, but most of the dishes remain unchanged. There are always freshly squeezed juices and fruits for breakfast. There are no complaints about either the quality or the assortment, the staff is very good. friendly, the only slight criticism may be the execution of the order by the waiters, if traditionally water is brought quickly, then for example the ordered juice is brought before leaving.
Beach: There are a lot of sunbeds, we didn’t have problems with a shortage. We were not lucky with the sea, the water was relatively clean only for the first 2 days, the rest of the time algae floated in the water. Shore personnel periodically buried algae in the sand with a bulldozer, from this we so we think there was an unpleasant smell on the beach. In general, the service on the beach is good, the staff is constantly interested in what to bring from drinks. Also on the beach there are the same "peddlers" as elsewhere who offer cigars, hats, baubles. also on the beach animators work.
Pool: Here is the most interesting)
The hotel has 3 swimming pools, but the most popular is the one closer to the sea.
Not once have we witnessed that the sunbeds closer to the pool near the "first line" are occupied, and as a rule, vacationers from other hotels, in general, the situation with belonging to a particular hotel was not clear to us, "strangers" are absolutely everywhere and in the restaurant and by the pool, there is often simply no place for our own, they themselves witnessed that the "parishioners" during our 40-minute absence for lunch threw our things off the sunbed, despite the fact that there were towels, personal items, baseball caps, glasses, cream and this did not stop them. All the more, it was not clear to us why the strangers were here, but they didn’t let us into the territory of the neighboring hotel. To make it clear, we need to clarify the following: Bahia Principe consists of several hotels, but for some reason most of the vacationers spend time in our hotel (Esmeralda).
Leisure: Various entertainment programs are held on the territory throughout the day, because. we went ourselves, bypassing the tour agency, then we had to organize leisure activities outside the hotel ourselves, if there are no problems with this in other places, especially in Thailand, then there is simply nowhere to go in the Dominican Republic. There are 2 shopping centers (20-30 min. ) "San Juan" ($20 one way trip) and "Blue Mall" ($30 one way trip) by and large there is nothing to do either there or there. The only thing you can buy with "San Juan" is alcohol. We they bought rum for friends, in the supermarket it cost $ 8, and in a specialized store where tourists are brought it costs $ 19. There are no problems with taxis, they are easy to recognize by bright T-shirts, fares are fixed, posters with prices are everywhere.
In general, the hotel, according to considerable travel experience, does not deserve more than 4 *, and even then with a stretch. For ourselves, we decided that we would not go to the Dominican Republic anymore.
