Greetings to all who are planning their vacation for the summer! My wife and children rested in June in Alushta, in the Professor's corner, in the boarding house "Dubna". Reading the previous reviews, I am in shock. We did not see dirty dishes, slow waitresses and all that is described earlier. On the contrary, we really enjoyed it! Beautiful and well-groomed territory, good food and rooms, I liked the beach.

Beautiful and well-groomed territory, good food and rooms, I liked the beach. Of course, you need to go down to the beach, and then go up, but it didn’t tire us. The employees of the boarding house are polite and always helped and prompted if we needed it. In a word - rest in the boarding house "Dubna" corresponds to the cost.

this year (end of July - beginning of August) we were in Alushta, in the Professor's Corner, in the boarding house "Dubna". There are no complaints about the boarding house beach - clean, with sun loungers, with awnings, the bottom is good. 5 hryvnia per day - rental of a plastic sunbed or umbrella. Food is average.

this year (end of July - beginning of August) we were in Alushta, in the Professor's Corner, in the boarding house "Dubna".
There are no complaints about the boarding house beach - clean, with sun loungers, with awnings, the bottom is good. 5 hryvnia per day - rental of a plastic sunbed or umbrella.
Food is average. There is no custom menu, as it is written on the sites. Waiters in the dining room often have to wait 10 minutes until they take out the dishes, although they do a good job. A couple of times came across an unwashed plate and spoon. There seemed to be two cooks. One cooked well, very mediocre, the other - more varied and tasty. In the sanatorium "Gurzufsky" last year the feeding was much better, although here, too, they gave a little red caviar, with an egg.
Territory boarding house - well-groomed, flower beds, coniferous plants. There are benches, children's and sports grounds. Cinema room above the dining room. Excursions are organized.
Hot water - according to the schedule, and not as it is again painted on the sites that promised around the clock. The elevator in the high-rise building does not work from 15.00 to 17.00 (quiet hour). You are welcome on foot to the 8th floor. From the beach, climb 50 meters to the building, to the dining room even higher. While you rise, your eyes often pop out of their sockets. Luggage storage works only on weekdays and then at certain times.
The rooms are slightly smaller than in the "Gurzufsky", the furniture is also smaller. If you live in a high-rise building, where the rooms are with all amenities, then the windows face either towards Alushta, overlooking the sea, or towards the mountains and the nearby boarding house "More". From the side of the mountains - the constant buzz of the industrial ventilation of the dining room "Sea". My wife was hysterical when we heard it again after 2 years away from the area. We asked for a room on the other side, since it was empty. In the afternoon and in the morning - fine, the sun goes down - not hot, beautiful view. In a room on the other side, the sun would warm all day.
At night, from 21 o'clock, there comes a disco nightmare. All the cafes and discos along the coast try to outshout each other with the singing of their singers, idiotic karaoke and thumping speakers. And so hours until 3-4 nights... The disco, located 300 meters from the building - around the fountain, not far from the final stop of the minibus going to Simferopol, stood out in particular. The bang of this disco-cafe with powerful professional speakers for scoring large spaces carried, probably, a great distance. At least we could hear everything in our room. My wife had to get "ear plugs" in one of the pharmacies, and even close the door to the loggia. So their times-so! Goats!
After all, people come to take a break from the noise and din of cities, annoying neighbors behind the wall. And here on you - they fall into even more difficult conditions. I think that God forbid 5% of vacationers go to these discos at night. The remaining 95% are forced to endure all this noise and din. Can't Alushta city hall say its weighty NO to noise after 11 p. m. ? Let them be quiet afterwards. In the neighborhood of this boorish-impudent discotheque there is a rather cool hotel "Morskoy" - is it really that booze and music do not interfere with any of their guests?
In general, 2 years ago it was much quieter there. This infernal institution did not exist. We will never go there again. We will look for quieter and more peaceful places. In "Dubna" I recommend to rest only for absolutely calm people with a healthy psyche and not very picky.

I heard many times that the level of service in the Crimea is not high enough and was not going to go there, but my dear wife, feeling nostalgic about the happy days of rest in these places even before the collapse of the USSR, managed to convince me. I heard many times that the level of service in the Crimea is not high enough and was not going to go there, but my dear wife, feeling nostalgic about the happy days of rest in these places even before the collapse of the USSR, managed to convince me. The main arguments were: healthy air, a real sea smelling of iodine, the child's acquaintance with Russian history and the unique nature of Crimea. And the daughter was already everywhere, but she did not see the Crimea. Well, I thought, I’ll endure it somehow, bought tickets and went to the Dubna boarding house, Alushta. But what I saw there… In general, I wanted to share my impressions and warn fellow citizens against rash acts.
My remarks about the boarding house "Dubna" will most likely be of interest to those who are going to rest in the Crimea and for their hard-earned money expect to get maximum convenience and comfort during their vacation, but forgot or does not know that in the sanatoriums and boarding houses of Crimea the average price category there are no amenities or comforts or they are in their infancy. But among extreme people and those who do not know what a modern service is, this article may cause protest or disapproval.
Price
I think it is right, before criticizing the services provided, it is necessary to calculate the cost of these services. Is it possible to get similar services of better quality for the money spent elsewhere? For comparison, tours to Turkey and Egypt were taken.
Cost calculation for a family of three (2 adults + 1 child aged 10).
Travel (round trip):
- flight Moscow-Simferopol-Moscow (2 * 4884 rubles + 3394 rubles) * 2 = 26324 rubles. (children get a discount).
- a taxi with air conditioning (because transfers are not offered by travel agencies and the Dubna boarding house) Simferopol-Alushta, Alushta-Simferopol - 600 + 600 = 1200 rubles.
- payment for accommodation for 14 days.
per person $40 per day * 14 days * 25.50 rubles / $ = 14280 rubles.
for 2 adults and 1 child (20% discount for children) 14280*2+14280*0.8=39984 rub.
TOTAL: 26324 rubles. + 1200 rub. + 39984 rub. = 67508 rubles. = $2647
Not wanting to waste time on a deep analysis of how I could spend $ 2600 on vacation, I turned to the site of TEZTUR, a tour operator that does not have the worst reputation. I found out that for this money for the same period (14 days) with the same train (2 adults + 1 child) the same period (July-August 2007) with the same way of traveling to the place of rest (by plane) my the family could rest in a 5* hotel in Egypt or a 4* hotel in Turkey.
So, I will list what was not in the Dubna boarding house or was very bad (in comparison with hotels in Turkey and Egypt).
Number.
The rooms, in my opinion, in a boarding house are ugly. Since the boarding house was built 40 years ago, it seems that the rooms have not been renovated, the furniture has not changed. I can’t remember a single undamaged mirror in the boarding house. All were cloudy or with a peeling reflective layer. In my room, the wallpaper was peeling off, the windows were painted over with a thick layer of peeling paint. All the doors creaked terribly. Defects and imperfections were evident from any angle.
There are no air conditioners! At night, in 30-degree heat, it is problematic to sleep in them, and during the day, in 40-degree heat, it is generally life-threatening in a room.
Plumbing fixtures became obsolete even under Soviet rule. Room cleaning was done irregularly and poorly. Wet cleaning, it seems, was not carried out at all. Garbage is also not taken out regularly. Change of linen - once a week (in Turkey and Egypt, linen is changed daily, and the cleaners make the beds themselves).
There was no hair dryer, safe, shampoos, telephone, minibar in the room. Toilet paper, more like sandpaper, had to beg.
Hot water is supplied according to the schedule. Moreover, according to such a schedule, which is least suitable for vacationers: during breakfast and during dinner. This is probably done so that vacationers pour less water. The fact that the administration of the boarding house is looking for all sorts of ways to save on vacationers is striking already on the second day of the “rest”.
Territory
It cannot be said that the territory of the boarding house looks impeccably well-groomed. Someone abandoned the bottle lay on the bushes for five days. Some areas are littered. No one was going to wipe the stain on the steps from someone's spilled wine, they were probably waiting for rain. The fences made of reinforcement were very touching. Flower plantings in the flower beds did not please with variety: marigolds and petunias. For the Crimean climate, this is extremely scarce.
There is no pool! There is only one bar, but such that he went into it once, left and did not go into it again. Internet, hairdressing, dry cleaning, shops on the territory of the boarding house no. Sometimes the attitude of some employees towards vacationers is very surprising. They seem to fulfill their duties, but they are very afraid to recycle. In such situations, you feel like a burden to these people.
All animation comes down to karaoke nights and weekly dances. In the evenings people entertain themselves, often with alcohol, often until morning. Drunken screams at night, although annoying, quickly cease to amaze. No one cares about the safety of vacationers. Anyone can enter the territory of the boarding house and take out anything from this territory. The only way to prevent theft is to call on the administration of the boarding house to hand over valuables to the storage room. Accordingly, the administration is not responsible for things not handed over to the storage room.
And one more small touch. When I had to ask the attendants (each time different employees) three times within half an hour not to stone my child, I had the idea that people in these places were starting to mutate. I can't even imagine that in Turkey or Egypt the hotel staff can sit next to me, let alone smoke on a child!!!
Nutrition
In my opinion, the complex lunches, breakfasts and dinners offered at the Dubna boarding house are worse than the all-inclusive buffet meals in Turkey and Egypt. What they fed in a boarding house cannot be poisoned, but the food was more like that offered in mediocre canteens. Nothing fancy. But the menu is unusual: how do you like the combination of "fried fish", "milk semolina" and "smoked sausage"? There is no air conditioning in the dining room, and the increased humidity, stuffiness and heat do not add appetite. There is a disgusting moment: the dishes are washed badly. So bad that many of my interlocutors in the boarding house believed that the dining room of the boarding house is the source of the spread of infection among vacationers. According to my estimates, every third person in the boarding house had a sore throat or caught a cold infection during the rest period. Caught up to the most severe purulent tonsillitis with a temperature of 38. Cough is heard so often that you think you got to the tuberculosis dispensary. My wife still cannot get rid of the stomatitis picked up there.
Embankment, beach
The sea is close to the boarding house, only 150 meters. Down! And another 300 meters along the promenade to the beach. Jumping up and down the stairs, you quickly begin to feel like a mountain goat. For some, this is a plus: a good way to lose weight. I probably would have thought the same if I didn't have to jump in 40-degree heat.
Special complaints about the embankment: walking along it is a constant risk of getting hit by a car. There are no sidewalks. In the evenings, it is especially densely filled with people, cars, cycle rickshaws. You feel like a Papuan in the country of the Papuans. Often some kind of ". . . " beeps in the back. Even intelligent people remember many interesting words in such a situation. They went to the embankment as a last resort: to buy medicine, a mobile phone recharge card, fruit, something for tea. The state of the embankment is not the merit of the "boarding house", but it adds to the impressions of a "pleasant" vacation.
There is a crush on the beach, there are not enough sunbeds, because of this, misunderstandings occur between vacationers. The density is such that getting to the sea without stepping on someone requires virtuoso flexibility. Sunbeds must be borrowed a week in advance. Mattresses, umbrellas, civilian plastic sunbeds - for a separate additional fee. Free beach towels are a bourgeois luxury. For a modest 5 hryvnia (25 rubles), anyone is allowed on the beach. So worry about your safety and the safety of your belongings, fellow vacationers, yourself.
The offered trestle beds should have been thrown away ten years ago. Not only are they obsolete. Many of them are broken or hastily patched. These beds are not safe to use. Nails come out of dried wood.
They get pedlars on the beach. Long after leaving Alushta, their unpretentious calls to buy something rang like hallucinations in my ears. And the constant stench of the smoked fish they offer. There are no showers or toilets on the beach. It is terrible to think that the sea serves as a toilet for numerous vacationers. I tried to smell iodine, but sea smells were more associated with the smell of urine.
Tours
There are no air-conditioned buses. It's not hard to imagine what you experience in a bus when it's +40 outside. On the way back, the bus does not always take tourists to their destination; The principle “From where they got it, they should be brought there” does not always work.
Sea trips are also not safe. On steamboats, all places are different. There are on the open deck, there are on the closed one. Tickets, of course, without specifying a seat. Imagine how our people, stupefied by the heat (a crowd of 150 people) behave when boarding such a ship. The assault on suburban electric trains during rush hour will seem like just a light warm-up. If you love children, then you will get the worst places. After such excursions, you begin to think: “What am I doing there? ” or “Why do I need all this? ”
It's hot in the room, it's disgusting on the beach, it's dangerous on the promenade, it's disgusting on excursions - there is nowhere to go. Turn on the countdown and wait for the day of departure.
Finally, I would like to note that the boarding house "Dubna" was the best hotel in Alushta in 2001 and, according to some nomination, the best hotel in the Crimea. It is difficult to imagine the level of service in other boarding houses that are not "best". Maybe it's enough for us to play the role of suckers and make the owners of Crimea treat us more kindly for our money. There is such a way: do not pay. Those. no need to go to rest in the Crimea! If I helped at least one person with my article, then it was not in vain that I was there.
