My Madrid
Madrid is not washed by the sea and was not built by a worthy river, but with so many beautiful parks, it will give odds to many world capitals.
An elegant glass pavilion was built in Retiro Park (Parque del Retiro) (architect Ricardo Velazquez Bosco actually copied his creation from London's Crystal Palace, which burned down in 1936). The industrial-style pavilion, combined with a picturesque pond, a grotto with an artificial waterfall and black swans, creates a fabulous landscape that is very unusual for Madrid. Initially, the palace was conceived as an exhibition center and now continues to be used for the same purpose - for expositions of modern art and plants
Madrid's most party place is Fuencarral Street, stretching north from Gran Via towards Bilbao metro station, where up-and-coming designers and youth clubs are concentrated
The El Rastro flea market has existed since the 15th century and was awarded the status of cultural heritage in 2000. It is better to go around the giant flea market in the city center in the morning in order to move to picturesque local bars by noon.
