Madrid... Hotel El Colosso
We stayed at this hotel on the way back from Tenerife to Kiev. It is located parallel to one of the central streets of the city of Gran Via, next to the metro station, st. Princess and on the route of the Madrid sightseeing bus. Room No. 121 is quite spacious, the windows overlook the inner courtyard with an area of about 9 square meters. m, i. e. the windows are opposite each other. Old building, there is a slight damp smell in the room. Small - ((double bed, next to the headboard - a door to a small bathroom (the audibility is excellent, you can hear the neighbors draining the water), you could hear the neighbors opposite having fun and singing songs -)) For a child (11 years old) a folding sofa. Plus - a large plasma (or liquid crystal? ) panel with Channel One, and free internet at the reception. My daughter forgot her Prada phone at the keyboard, we were very pleasantly surprised when the administrator returned it to us (of course, after the appropriate question). At breakfast, everything is at a minimum (probably, it seemed so after the "five" in Tenerife): sausages, sausage, ham, cheese, vegetables, fruits (2 types each), juice, jamon, eggs - boiled, fried, yogurt, cereal with milk , coffee from a coffee machine to choose from. The truth is, you won't go hungry. I will not return to this hotel for the second time. In Madrid, a hotel on a hotel!!!
Another point - do not order a transfer, an overpayment of 2 times. Transfer to our hotel back and forth was offered by the agency for 100 euros. We didn't take it. Right at the exit from the airport a line of taxis. We arrived at the hotel for 23 euros, back - 27 euros (back - caught a taxi at the hotel).
The Spaniards are very noisy when you go into a cafe - the hubbub is like a swarm of bees flying -)) They don't understand English AT ALL (or don't they want to? ). Drinks in the cafe expensive, about a third of the ordered dishes. Food - pizza, spaghetti, etc. - 10-15 euros per serving, meat - 14-20 and more per serving. Entrance tickets to the Prado Museum - 10 euros for everyone, to the Royal Palace (there are a lot of impressions, similar to Peterhof in St. Petersburg) about the same, up to 10 euros. I recommend a sightseeing tour of the city - 17 euros. ticket per person, 9 per child (for 1 day, for 2 days, respectively, 21 and 13 euros). They give out headphones and listen in your own language to a story about the places that you pass.
Have a nice holiday!! !
