In the cold season we have a rest in Egypt in 4-5 * (sometimes 2-3 times a year), in the summer - in Europe, etc. We were in Naama Bay for the first time. Prior to that, they preferred beautiful reefs and entrance only from a pontoon, where you can swim with plenty of maca. The Gafi resort was chosen due to the shark danger because of the open and more or less safe beach.
Priorities when choosing a hotel:
1. Proximity to the sea. The closer, the better. Sea air is known to be very useful.
2. The opportunity to swim well.
3. Quality service.
4. Good food.
And the rest is not so important for us. Have been to Egypt many times. We have already gone on almost all excursions, and there are plenty of restaurants and parties at home.

PROS. Pretty good BEACH, which did not close, with a bottom cleared of corals and because of this, a sort of lagoon was formed. And in the depths of the sea there is a coral reef, though not very picturesque (although there are fish). Well, nothing, we have seen beautiful reefs and living creatures on them many times. Wide, comfortable sandy entrance to the sea, a little rocky in places, plenty of space and sunbeds. Shark safety at the hotel was ridiculously simple. At the end of the pontoons, on the sides of the beach - 60 meters deep, a rope with buoys was stretched, along which a lifeguard with a harpoon (maybe a toy, but psychologically we were under protection) was cruising from the sea on a pedalo catamaran. that the beach is located at the edge of the bay, and we swam in an artificial lagoon. A little deeper (70 meters) there was a reef, the water above it was knee-deep. Too small for a shark! We swam at high tide - about 2 meters, and at low tide 170 cm "And the beach is wide. So, we spent most of the time on the beach. We swam, swam and snorkeled, got a good tan. We were very pleased with the sea. We had a rest to the fullest! "
The presence of PROMENADA. Promenade (for those who do not know) is a path for walking through the territory of all the hotels of the first line of Naama Bay, separating the beaches from the hotels themselves, along which there are cafes, restaurants, shops, etc. You walk along the promenade through all the hotels. You can go to any restaurant of any hotel, sit, drink wine, listen to music (for money, of course). Or you can just take a walk. Breathe in the sea air. Especially expanse for young people! No need to sit in the restricted area of the hotel. In the evening, go wherever you want.
The FOOD was pretty tasty. The choice is not very large, but everything is very personal. There were fish and seafood, chicken, grilled meat, very tasty confectionery (I haven’t seen such in the top five). There were fruits too. Everything is clean: dishes and tablecloths and napkins. Drinks in the main restaurant - only in glass glasses. The waiters and staff are very friendly.
It should be noted the very good management in this hotel. Their main boss walks everywhere (you will immediately recognize him) and interferes in everything, checks everything personally.
ON THE AVERAGE RATE, you can rate the rooms. It must be said here that the hotel consists of old and new territories. OLD - the one in all the photos of tourist sites, consists of one-story bungalows around two pools towards the sea. Here the rooms are old and small (albeit clean), but with snow-white bedding and towels, with working plumbing, all sorts of things in the form of shampoo-gels and so on. and cleaning every day. We specifically requested a room in a one-story bungalow. We don’t really like to run around the floors, and the terrace among the flowers and greenery is very pleasing to the eye. On it, my friends and I sometimes drank dry wine in the fresh air in the evening. The beauty!

But the NEW territory, to the left of the reception, is attached - these are three-story new buildings, where everything is more chic and aesthetically pleasing. It would be possible to give five stars here, but the rooms are small there too.
MINUSES. The old territory, including the reception, let us down with aesthetics. Simple. But it didn’t bother us at all. I have already explained my priorities.
Despite the all inclusive, water is not provided in the room. Drinks only at lunchtime and in the evening. In the main restaurant, you need to go to the bartender for them yourself. There are no juices, only diluted and cola, sprite, etc. , and local white and red wine. Water only in glasses. We were told that on the way 2 bottles of water in the minibar for free, but nothing like that. It is, of course, a trifle, but it is somehow unpleasant that they took money for water. It is not money at all - about a dollar, I only handed out 40 dollars for tips, but the feeling that they were saving on trifles somehow blurred the impression. We bought water from a shop across the street. There were no problems with carrying water and food to the hotel.
"All inclusive" is weak. Only one bar on this system worked on the territory and one on the beach. Well, for 4 * stars, this is normal.

NEW YEAR 2011 met wonderfully!! ! The table was chosen by ourselves - in front of the stage. The dishes for Egypt were very tasty and varied. Last year in the five-star the choice was worse. Normal Egyptian New Year's show. As usual: dance with skirts, with candlesticks, belly dance, Egyptian oboe, etc. The only thing that could upset our tourists is that no alcohol in the New Year's dinner, although they paid $ 100 each, is not included it was, but you could come with your own by paying the so-called "Fine" - about 20 dollars. We took champagne and a couple of bottles of wine from them in the restaurant for the whole table (6 people). We've had enough! A little more puzzled by the fact that already at half past eleven they began to clear the tables. But we took fruit for a snack and it was very good with wine. Then we called the call "Russians go out and celebrate our Russian New Year on the street. It was at 23 o'clock Egyptian time. Who went out with their glasses, who ran to the room and brought his own. We watched Medvedev's television congratulations, everyone congratulated each other, sang the anthem! It was fun! And then they went to the Egyptian New Year (hour difference) to meet and met. Then the disco until one, and then went to the promenade and walked with other hotels until four in the morning. And everything was very sincere. Nobody was very drunk. Just funny!
As for the hotel as a whole, I can say that it’s not bad if you don’t look closely at minor flaws, but there are some. If you have only stayed in five stars before, then you may not like it. Everyone has their own priorities! And most importantly, the mood with which you are driving is important! For example, I knew that the hotel was not great (thanks for the truthful reviews to everyone), BUT I CHOSEN IT MYSELF and did not regret it! I went and knew what to expect! And in fact, it turned out to be very even nothing!
Have a good rest everyone.
