Grand Oasis Hotel 5 years later
We already vacationed at Grand Oasis in 2019 when it just opened after renovation. In 2024, we were there again from October 6 to October 17, room 1344 on the 3rd floor of the left wing of the main building.
Unlike the previous trip, when we were kept at the reception for 4.5 hours, this time check-in happened quickly (in about 30 minutes), but we were given bracelets only at 10-30, so as not to miss breakfast.
On the way back, the bracelets were cut off at exactly 12:00, although many hotels do not cut them off at all.
Number
In quite good condition. The furniture is not new, but the bed is soft, hot water is always available. The air conditioner is central, without a remote control - inconvenient, the intensity of its operation was not regulated, despite the presence of 3 fan operating positions. TV – 32 inches Samsung with 2 Kyiv and 2 Moscow channels. The linen was fresh and without holes.

The bathroom has new: washbasin, foot bidet, compact. But the bathtub has a very uncomfortable, rigidly fixed shower. You can’t wash yourself without wetting your hair.
On the balcony there is a table and 2 chairs made of high-quality thick plastic (this was not available in 2019). There is also a dryer for swimming trunks.
There were no ants or mosquitoes in the room. Every day they bring 2 bottles of water of 0.5 liters to your room - this is not enough. You can get your own water in the main restaurant or near the lobby bar. In the main restaurant you can also take your own chemical juices. The grape-apple one is the most edible. In the lobby bar you can order quite decent juices from packages.
Hotel
Almost all the staff speaks Russian. At the reception you will be given a map of the hotel with a description of its services and restaurant opening hours. It’s convenient that if you didn’t make it to breakfast, you can get donuts and croissants from the window under the reception from 11 to 12 o’clock, and you can get pizza there from 15 to 17 o’clock. That is, you won’t remain hungry.
The hotel is built in such a way that from buildings 1 and 2 you can go to the restaurant without going outside - this is convenient in the heat during lunch.
The noise insulation from neighboring rooms is good, but on the beach you can hear planes at the airport, there is a mosque 150 meters from the hotel and at night you can hear it in the room.
Animators provided entertainment every evening - the fire show was okay, the rest were so-so. There is no amphitheater in the hotel - shows are held by the pool.
From the hotel to Soho Square from 20 to 23 hours every 30 minutes. there is a bus. However, the walk to Soho is only 5-6 minutes, and we did not use the bus.
Guests: many Russian and Ukrainian speakers. There are Germans, Italians, Kazakhs, Poles. There were only a few companies of Arabs. Guests are mostly 50 years old +. There are few young people, almost no children.
Nutrition
In the main restaurant there were no dirty dishes on the tables or problems finding places to serve. After cleaning dirty dishes, tables are disinfected with a special solution.

The food is very varied - every day for lunch and dinner there is chicken and beef (several types), as well as fish (1 or 2 types daily).
Several times there were crabs, shrimp, grilled turkey, and quail.
There are many different side dishes for every lunch and dinner. Dishes of Italian and Greek cuisine. Two types of soup, both for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Lots of stewed vegetables. Dietary dishes: soups, boiled vegetables, boiled rice. There were almost no lines except when they served turkey for dinner. I was surprised by the children's table: fried potatoes, croissants and sausages - somehow these dishes are not very suitable for children.
For breakfast: coffee (several types are made by the bartender, you can take instant coffee yourself), hot and cold milk, tea, hot water.
Fruits: orange, melon, dates, apples, pear, guava, grapefruits, bananas, persimmons, grapes (a different set every day). For some reason there were no watermelons.
The food is replenished all the time, so it’s not worth coming at the beginning of dinner or lunch. In 11 days we were not able to try even 1/3 of the dishes - their variety was too great.
It is difficult to single out anything from strong alcoholic drinks - they are all diluted (they are poured 40-60 ml into a glass). Wine, both tap and white, is not very good. Bartenders pour 2-4 glasses per hand, i. e. as much as you ask. The bad thing is that all drinks are poured into 150 ml disposable cups. – drinking a normal amount of beer is problematic.
There are two restaurants with a set menu: Italian (visit $5/person) fish (visit $10/person). If you want to dine in the main restaurant and one of the additional ones, you need to pay $18 per person.
Beach
4-level. The old wooden sun loungers are very crowded - this is not typical for Egypt. Many have torn mattresses. Due to the incomplete occupancy of the hotel, free sunbeds on the 1st level could be found even at 11 o’clock (in 2019, sunbeds had to be occupied before 7-00. Beach fights do their own small business - they occupy 2 sunbeds at a time with a towel, and then for money foreigners are accommodated there.

Small pesky flies were annoying on the beach - there are fewer of them on the Four Seasons side.
In 2019, the hotel had 3 water entrances from the shore where you can swim at high tide. Now there is only one left - the second was liquidated, and the third was declared a private territory with its own sun loungers. At the remaining entrance from the shore (to the left of the pontoon), 2-3 poisonous butterfly fish (lionfish) swim, as well as many aggressive surgeon fish that can cut your legs.
The pontoon is short, but there is a constant crowd around it and you can’t just calmly get in and out of the water. Upon arrival, the pontoon was in terrible condition - the platform at the end was skewed, and it was difficult to climb onto it from the water, especially on the left side. But 8.10. 24 this platform was replaced with a new one, but the area for access to it from the shore remained the same and on it you can easily fall with your foot between the floats.
The coral reef about 300 m from the pontoon in each direction is not very interesting.
Especially if you swim towards the boat pier. The fish are mostly small. In 11 days we managed to see a moray eel and three Napoleons: small, medium and large (about 1.2-1.5 m) even with sticky fish. Tourists fed Napoleon boiled eggs from the pontoon - this is very bad. I didn’t see any stingrays or turtles, which are mentioned in previous reviews.
In general, I liked the hotel for its very varied food and proximity to Soho Square.

Cons of the hotel
Actually they are unimportant. But if you find fault, you can note: small flies on the beach, a partially broken pontoon, hard shower in the bathroom, sunbeds are very crowded, alcoholic drinks from 11-00 (usually from 10-00), unregulated air conditioning fan.
