We visited the Hilton Plaza Hotel from 09 to 23 November 2005 together with our girlfriend. It was our first trip abroad.

Hotel

The hotel is located in the old city of Down Town, on foot you can reach any cafes and shops, on the bass - to the new city of Sakkala.

In our arrival at the Hilton Plaza, 3-4 couples from St. Petersburg arrived. They brought cold hibiscus.
There are three hours at the reception with time for Rome, Moscow and Hurghada. The clock was moved from St. Petersburg time to one hour ago.

The vast majority of the hotel staff speaks English, many - a few words in Russian. At the reception, a Russian girl Natalya, a Russian girl Yana was engaged in seating at meals. All employees are exceptionally polite, every time they greet customers. My girlfriend became interested in flowers, the gardener immediately cut a small bouquet and presented it to her.

Upon check-in, the hotel was offered superior rooms: 5th floor, free massage session, 2 hours of Internet, extra bathrobes and slippers in the room, a bottle of Egyptian wine and a fruit basket on the day of arrival, a large bottle of water every day, an electric kettle in the room, free use of the gym room, sauna. All this pleasure for an additional 15 Euros (plus another 12% tax) per day, which the receptionist kept silent about and reported only after persistent interrogation. One pair of our compatriots was tempted to additional service, but after half an hour they changed their mind and moved to the ordered and already paid standard rooms.

Several types of rooms - apartments on the 6th floor (I didn’t, I don’t know), front-beach (semi-detached one-story separate houses with a small terrace and rocking chairs in a green area ten meters from the beach), corner rooms on each floor (with an open terrace of order 20-30 sq. m. - very cool), basement floor (with a terrace area in the loggia and access directly to the path along the building - some people really don’t like it, but we thought it was very attractive - it would be possible to arrange evening gatherings right under the rose bush ! ).

The peculiarity of the hotel is that the reception is located on the level of the third floor. This is due to the fact that the building is built on a hill, very funny.

In the hall there are workplaces equipped with screens for representatives of excursion travel agencies (motor safari and submarine).
There are also several shops here, two of which are owned by David, an interesting young man who speaks a little Russian and has lived in several European countries. Nearby is a tiny branch of the bank - exchange and currency exchange. A significant part of the hall in its lower part is occupied by the dining room. A small part is dedicated to the bar.

Two transparent elevators, one of which plays music, are very leisurely.

We got used to the constant wind after a few days. On some days of strong wind, when the glass door of the room in the bathroom was open, the suspended aluminum ceiling was already lifted.

We were settled in number 414 on the fourth floor.
Quite spacious (about 6x4 meters). The door is equipped with a peephole and an internal mechanical lock.
From the room there is another double door to the next room (in case of settling a large family or company), which we had tightly closed.

The floor is paved with slabs of unknown origin, such as artificial marble or local decorative stone. Its coolness is very good in hot weather. There are two abstract paintings on the wall. Two wicker chairs and an ottoman (during the movement of which, in the upper room above us, the legs made an unpleasant loud rattle), a table made of metal and glass with two wine glasses. Large mirror with table. Large double bed, two bedside tables. Large type carpet and two small bedside rugs. Suitcase stand.
A bunch of information and promotional materials, including in Russian. Company matches.

The loggia (about 1x4 meters) is separated by a double-glazed window sliding from floor to ceiling. Two plastic chairs and a table. The floor is tiled. Beautiful view of the green and beach area, miniport and bay. Curtains - dense opaque, additional light opaque and transparent.
Central air conditioning, remote control located in the room. The ventilation is excellent.
The lighting is thoughtfully done, you can adjust the illumination with a special regulator and turn off the overhead light with an additional switch at the head of the bed.

Sockets (3 pieces) require an adapter for some of our plug types.
Phone (only called the reception). We used it only for a night wake-up call for an early departure for an excursion.

Grundig TV with a remote control, about 15-20 channels work (including one of our RTR Planet), one of them periodically plays a Hilton Worldwide resort commercial. Some additional service and information functions are provided (such as debt for the phone, etc. ) using the TV, which we did not even begin to understand.
The minibar was filled with a bunch of bottles, which we immediately asked to take away due to the discrepancy between the volume and quality of their cost. There were no problems with this, they were simply moved from the refrigerator compartment to another compartment of the same minibar, and on the eve of our departure they simply dropped in and checked, without any recalculation.

There is a small metal safe with an electronic lock in the wardrobe compartment. Quite convenient.

The bathroom is also finished with stone or its likeness. Full wall mirror. Large bathtub. Shower without hose, with handle regulator. Separate hose with faucet (instead of a bidet). Plug for a bathroom on a chain. Two glasses. Two large towels, two foot towels, two tiny cloth towels, a thick towel as a rug. Telephone. Ashtray. Flower vase. Hairdryer with American and European type sockets.

Cleaning was done daily with the change of all towels and bed linen. If we took one of the towels with us to the beach, the cleaner still left a new one. Baksheesh was left under an empty bottle of shampoo and the cleaner understood us correctly - we need a new full bottle. Mobile phones and cameras were quietly left in the room - the cleaner did not encroach.

Feeding

Meals were in the form of a buffet in the morning from 07.00 to 10.30 and in the evening from 19.00 to 22.30.
Arriving at a meal, a Russian girl Yana or an Arab Akhmet met, escorted to a table, seated. There were no queues. The waiters quickly and quickly cleaned dirty dishes and prepared tables.

No one would have survived dinner. Everything was varied and tasty.
Fried eggs were prepared as individual dishes, which the Arab Ali fried according to our desire from different components, deftly tossing and turning it in the air.

In the morning orange, mango, lemon juices, cold hibiscus tea. But in the evening - drinks on order from $ 2 (tea) and more. Fruits - bananas, melons, watermelons, oranges, grapefruits, peaches, ...Napkins, for some reason, at an additional request through the waiters.

While going down the elevator to the hall during breakfast or dinner, waiters bring new dishes along the transparent passage, greeting the passengers of the elevator with their hands and wide smiles.
I put on 6 weight and my girlfriend 2 kg.

Beach

At first glance from the loggia, the rooms seem small, but in fact it is quite sufficient and cozy. It starts work at 8 am, 10-15 minutes before which beach workers bring carts with clean towels and mattresses.
Cafe, bar, fungi, wooden or plastic deck chairs, two outdoor showers, dressing room, volleyball and football courts, three hammocks. Surfing center. On both sides - diving centers. Parking of sea boats.

We started our morning at 07.30-07.40 with morning splashing in the sea, studying fish resources. They occupied classic wooden deck chairs in the least populated part of the beach, brought mattresses, spread towels and hung swimming trunks to dry. After drying in the wind, we slowly followed for breakfast, since it lasted until 10.30.

The animators did not bother, the waiters of the beach cafe did not get persistent, the owner of the hookah bar only indicated his presence. The driver of the rented camel was unobtrusive.
