We rested in the middle of June. This was our 9th trip to Egypt. The sea water was very cold. Usually a wetsuit is not needed for summer trips - when you swim on the surface, it only gets in the way (overheats). During our last stay, we regretted not taking wetsuits.
Hotel for divers. We are not divers, but we love to snorkel several kilometers a day in pursuit of new underwater beauties.
The wind was always strong. The wind drives the wave. For 12 days there were no waves only once in the afternoon.

This is not to say that the waves do not interfere, but in principle you can swim with fins. The most beautiful corals are on the right (200 meters you have to swim) from the hotel's pontoon. Beauties begin opposite the neighboring Sea Sun Hotel and further towards Dahab. The reef goes down gradually, forming beautiful coral fields, 100% alive. There are absolutely no people in the water. Waves sway over all this splendor, a feeling of majestic spaciousness. But we must not forget that it is easy to swim to the right side, since the waves are in the back, and in order to swim back towards the waves, you will have to make some efforts.
If you swim to the left of the hotel, then the reef is quite lively, although it is sprinkled with brown sand in places. Directly near the pontoon, the water was almost always muddy. On the map there is a place near the hotel (400 meters), which is called "Canyon". This is a place for divers, since the canyon cannot be seen from the surface, but there is a gap between corals (where divers enter) with a depth of 2-3 meters and further sand at the bottom. Nice place for a change. You can swim to the right further towards the wave, as it will be easy to return. If you swim to the Blue Hall, the reef wall in some places comes close to the shore and the corals are more and more covered with sand. We did not swim to Blue Hall (cold and waves). I had to walk (the road is not very romantic, because it smells like camels). We walked for 40 minutes. We swam back in 1 hour and 20 minutes.
Living creatures and particular fish are much smaller than in Sharm. Schools of fish are few. There are no quarrels at all. The largest predator is telosur (some specimens), flute fish. Small coral fish are plentiful, with butterfly fish well represented. Fish the size of a hornbill fish (like the rhinoceros fish themselves) are found in single specimens.
There were large specimens of hedgehog fish (these are such cute fish with big heads). A couple of times a young Napoleon, an eagle ray, passed at a depth (far and deep). There are turtles (small).
In general, I liked the place, as it could well have been worse. Compared to previous trips, in Sharm opposite Melia Sinai and in the Garden Reef, the underwater world is richer, more interesting, there are no waves and the water is warm, but, unfortunately, I liked exactly those places in Sharm where the shark attacked people. So we went for a swim in Dahab.

About the hotel. The hotel is comfortable, compact and functional. Everything is close. During the day, we often went into the room, warmed ourselves in the shower (on the beach, the stream from the shower is blown away by the wind and it is quite difficult to wash under it), changed clothes. The hotel has several deciduous trees and palms, grass, flowering bushes. The food is tolerable, Pepsi-Cola is poured without restrictions. Good hotel.
